Oh, how wonderfully heartbreaking!  Dean leaving Sam because he feels it's what his little brother truly wants was such a beautiful sacrifice.

And the surprise guest was John all along.  He, too, was looking out for his boys.  The importance of the scar in John's life as well as in the story was genius! 

Thanks for sharing this amazing story!

Oooh!  Love the little clue you leave at the end.  Now we know that someone was trying to keep the supernatural at bay.

Dean dropping the bomb about their childhood to Jess was pleasantly unexpected.  Even more so was her reply that it must have been his childhood too.  She's a quick one!

Oh. My. Gosh! This is the most meaningful chapter I've ever read in the history of Supernatural fanfic. This is absolutely an amazing story, you had me completely hooked from the title. Somehow just reading the title, I just knew something horrible was gonna happen to Sammy. My heart was racing when I read the end of this chapter where Sam got shot. 

Way to hold an audience captive Angela!

I read the whole thing in 4 hours and i got to say this is a magnificent piece of work.i will be putting my jess story up but it will in no way imaginable beat this artwork. You've nailed it on the head in one go. By the way, are you a medico of sorts? :-)

Wonderful story! Love the idea of Jessica and Dean having met before, and the story fits so well with what we know about the boys - of course Dean would come running once he knew Sam had been hurt! And of course he would be the one able to calm Sam down when he woke up and started fighting the tube.

 Also love how John went there too and killed the guy before Dean could - and how you tie that in with his first experience of killing a human being. Makes total sense that he would try to protect his boys from that - and that idea is a little heartbreaking, knowing how many people Dean (and Sam) have had to kill later on.

 I'll be sure to read more of your stuff soon!

I really like this one and it makes me wonder how Dean dealt with Jessica's death.  I especially liked the chapter where Dean is driving to California and is remembering little moments he had with his brother.

Nice story.  I liked how Dean left before Sam woke up, it was very Dean (and very the show too).  Good writing, pretty strong and clear.

Thank you for a very entertaining read. It was very edge of the seat stuff, it tugged at the heartstrings, and it gave a happy ending..of sorts - lol. I was happy to read it all in one sitting. Very well done.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reviewing this kindly, I tried to respond to the chapter reviews with a quick blurb before I got to this last one.  I wanted it to be a bit of heartstrings piece as I'm working on a few that aren't.  Ending on this is a bit wistful for me, a what-might-have-been-romantic sigh.  I'm a sucker for fairy tales at heart. That was so sad - Sam really needs his brother. And that must have taken a lot for Dean to just walk away, knowing that Sam wasn't going to remember that he'd even been there. Moving on....Jules

Author's Response: Tried to get through in this that each of them needs the other,but manages to think the opposite isn't true.  Dean thinks he protecting Sam - again - by leaving.

That was heartbreaking - so many memories to refute that one tiny little sentence - that one sentence not meant to hurt, but said out of lack of knowledge of the true family dynamic. And now big brother has arrived. I loved the peeks into their childhood, and I loved that little thought of Dean's - Sammy's mine now. So true, so very true. Sam was always Dean's kid more than John's. Dean was the real parent. Loved that immensely...Jules
