Reviews For No Black Altars

Ah, nice, especially in light of all the things Sam did do to try and save Dean over this past summer. I have no doubt that if binding a reaper would've helped, he'd have attempted it. Nice touch that he'd memorized the ritual already. I thought he was being awfully easy-going about the whole thing.

Author's Response:

Hi Beth,

Thanks for the review. Faith is one of my favorite episodes bec it shows that the relationship between the brothers is a two-way street and Sam will do anything for Dean, as well as vice versa.

Ooooh, very nice. i love the cribbage scene with the incredibles playing cards. and a fantastic ending. sly, conniving sam. you rarely see that side of him!~

Author's Response:

Hi C,

Glad you liked the cribbage scene. I found the Incredibles playing cards on a road trip and just had to use them in a story.  Sam can be conniving when he wants to be; he's both an intellectual and a Winchester - a potent combination.

Awesome job. I can see why Dean burned those pages and why Sam memorized them. Great ending!

Excellent story, this is very good and you focus well on the last few lines. The possibility will always be open and Sam had to make sure of it. Very good!

Author's Response:

Thanks. I actually had the last scene worked out first, and plotted it in reverse to get to that point. Plus, I thought No Black Altars was an awesome title, and once I have a plot idea titled, it usually gets written, eventually.

Nice to see you here, Sue.  I really enjoyed this tag to Faith.

Author's Response:

Thanks, Vanessa. Faith is one of my favorite first season episodes, so it seemed a good place to start.

Okay, now I'm curious.  Why would Sam make a black altar?  Hmmm?

Author's Response: Sue Ann made that black altar and turned to the dark arts to save her husband from dying. Dean is afraid that Sam would do the same and sacrifice another person, in order to keep Dean alive, the next time Dean comes close to dying. So, Dean extracts a promise from Sam: no black altars. Sam tells Dean what he needs to hear, but in his heart of hearts, he's not ruling out any way that would save Dean, so he's lying.

Sweeet. What an awesome idea! Such an ominous ending, but I could totally see Dean wanting to destroy the book for that exact reason and Sam memorizing the pages. Wow! I can't believe this was your first story! Thanks for the great read and definitely keep 'em coming!

Author's Response:

Thank you. I'm glad you found the boys' actions to be in character, believability is high on my list of what should be included in fanfic writing.
