Great update Kel...Poor Sam and Dean always trying to come up with a believable story...Can't wait for the wrap up...I totally understand the whole trying to wrap things up and finding it's gonna take longer than you expected. ;oP

Think Caroline and Beth just got a crash course in exactly what sort of "investigator" John and the boys might be! I like the pace, rollicking action tales are fun, but if every story was like that, it would get dull too. This is a bit different and I think allows for more character development. Eager for more - and it is cute that you said it's not action packed and still managed to slide a cliffe in there - lol. - Angela

Author's Response: Reading in on go huh, wow, thanks what a compliment. Glad it's kept your attention and trust me nothing's gonna be slow in the next chapter. We're down to it now, I hope to update this weekend, thanks for reading and reviewing - Kel

If Dean and Sam weren't hunters they could be actors, lol. How Dean and Sam'll find the book and destroy it with Caroline and Beth in the house. Great chapter Kel, can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Glad you liked Oceane...I'll try and update soon. - Kel

great update Kel! I loved this line, "For a moment they stood, gazes locked. Each one communicating all that needed to be said in one long glance. Sam's eyes radiated his worry and in return Dean's gaze commanded him to be cool and all would be well." And like a said before, the whole Granny moment cracked me up. And i also loved Caroline's thoughts about Beth. Can't wait to see how they gonna explain their presence at the house...
Author's Response: Yeah well how often have we seen them exchange one of those looks, As for how they're going to explain being at the house??? Not quite sure, but I promise you'll be the first to know. - Kel

Great update. Loved how Dean managed to get him and Sam out of school thanks to Sam's acting talents... I liked how you described Caroline's feelings for Beth. I'm really hoping the boys can help her in time. Looking forward to more. Thanks.
Author's Response: Glad you liked Dagmar, I expected the boys to get much farther in this chapter but the school scene kinda took on a life of it's own...lol. Thanks as always for reading- Kel

Kel, this really gives me a taste of how hard Dean's life was. How much worry he carried around with him all the time. Excellent job! You've taken something we all knew and made it real.
Author's Response: Wow, what a compliment, thanks Shannon I appreciate it. I really tried hard to convey just what their lives might have been like and what helped to make Dean the man he is. :) Thanks for reading - K

What a marvelous line to part with---"taking care of people is what Dean did best." Too bad Dean never sees himself through Sam's eyes. Well, maybe that's a good thing. There'd be no living with him if he did.
Author's Response: Too true...lol. Thanks for the R&R - K

You hit the nail on the head with Dean's anger and worry about Sam and later his stash. Now he knows every parent's nightmare---a missing child. Love that Caro questioned Beth about meeting Dean! She's a smart auntie. Probably snuck out a time or two herself.
Author's Response: So glad you liked this one Shannon, it's hard to convey just how rough things could have been for the boys without going too far overboard. Thanks for reading - K

"Knock on the door and politely tell them they have a haunted book" --- Hey who knows, could work! lol- might work better than falling on their nose when Caroline opened the door - too funny. Nightmares being back can't be good and I love that uneasy feeling of Caroline's that maybe there's more connection between the dreams and what happened last year with Beth than she wants to think. Thanks for the update looking forward to the next part. And by the way - yeah I'm still having the same editing trouble after posting as you. -- Angela
Author's Response: Hey you never know I know if Dean (no matter the age) showed up at my door to tell me about a haunted book I'd have to at least consider it...lol Thanks as always for the support - Kel

Still building that tension! LOL loved the Ferris Bueller reference one of my fave movies! I really feel for Caroline and acutally understand the gratitude she had about having the responsibility of taking care of Beth being thrust on her...my daughter was born a week before my Dad died and I am convinced that she is the reason my family was able to handle the loss better than I ever thought possible... Loved that Dean and Sam got caught in their not-so-stealthy break into Beth's house! Can't wait to see how this one ends!
Author's Response: Yeah can't mention skipping school without a nod to Ferris...lol. So glad you liked the update and I promise we really are at the end...lol.

Loved the ending of that chapter. Nice to see that the boys weren't always perfect. Can't wait to see what happens in the confrontation with the book.
Author's Response: lol, no not perfect by a long shot. Glad you enjoyed and I'll try to update this one again this week - Thanks for reading - Kel

Very interesting update Kel! So now we find out a bit more about this demon/ghost that has been plaguing poor Beth. Poor Sam all worried about Dean...and Dean filled with so much pride over being able to provide for his brother! Can't wait to see how the boys resolve this one!
Author's Response: I can't either Gen...lol. Glad you enjoyed the update and I think we're down to the home stretch now, Thanks as always for reading - K

Great, DEan came back with money and little bruised, he's so proud of himself, now he can take care of Sammy without worrying about money but Sam was right, it's their dad's responsability to take care of him and Dean. Awww...Dean and Sam cuddling, how sweet. Poor Beth, I feel so much for her, it's heartwrenching. Not much action but very emotional chapter, awesome work kel, can't wait for more.
Author's Response: So glad you dug it Oceane, Sam and Dean always seem to have conflicting view points on thier life, I just hope I properly captured it. Thanks as always for reading - K

I really liked this chapter. I loved Dean's realization that he could take care of everything now and wouldn't have to worry about him and Sam being hungry again. I liked the way you wrote Sam's fear of the situation. Well done. I can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Thanks much it was an emotional scene and I'm just glad that everyone thought I did it justice. It's always nerve-wracking to write the boys differing opinions of the same situation. Glad you liked - Kel

So, no action in this one, huh? Well, who needs salt and burns and guns blastiing when there is so much brother love and concern to write about and you did this once again in a catching and heartwarming way: At the sudden warm glow every last trace of fear disappeared. Some people would have assumed it was the light that eased Sam's panic. In reality, he knew it was his big brother who had dispelled his fears. For Sam, Dean was the light in the dark, he always had been. Loved every line of it. So, just a girl to save and then we are on the home stretch? Ok, I'm still along for the ride :)
Author's Response: Yeah just a girl to save, the boys are on their way there now, though I'm still not quite sure how they're gonna manage it...lol. Thanks as always for the support Dagmar

Dean as Alice is a fun little image, isn't it? Sign of too much TV in my childhood perhaps. He really has always been Sam's light, although I expect Sam's far more aware of that than he is. Even "approaching adulthood" it's still a shame that Dean can only find peace in not needing John ot provide for them, boing assured he can do it himself if he has to. So, off to save the girl... Nice chapter, Kel, I like this one a lot --- Angela
Author's Response: So glad you're enjoying Angela, yeah it just seems to me that Dean would find relief in being able to provide for Sam without needing lean on John. And yeah can't live without the pulp culture refrences...lol.

"For Sam, Dean was the light in the dark, he always had been." How heartwrenching is that now... Well, very very heartwrenching... So, great update, i'm glad Beth finally gave up and went to Caroline. I think that's gonna mean save the girlS before ride off into the sunset...
Author's Response: Man you're up awfully early. Glad you enjoyed the update and yeah I have no doubt the boys will save the girl, it's why we love them after all. Thanks as always - Kel

I just started this story and have read all 12 chapters. I like your portrayal of Dean and Sam in their younger days. Sam especially. He may be young, but he smart and he's showing his protectiveness of Dean despite that. Great job. I look forward to the next chapter. Make it soon.
Author's Response: WOW, all 12 at once well thanks for that..lol. so glad you like my version of the boys. Especially my Sam.. I'm not a Sam girl so I always worry I'm not doing him justice. Thanks for reading and updates on its way - K

Great update Kel! Loved the walk down memory lane with Sam as he looked through Dean's wallet. Poor Dean all ythis responsibility falling on his shoulders...not wanting to bring John down by reminding him of his...so very Deanlike. Loved that he kept that part of the xmas pageant program with Sam's name on it! Always the proud big brother! Really building the tension for this hunt...finding that book is really gonna be like finding a needle in a haystack! Great work can't wait for the next update!
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed the memories Gen, and as for protecting John, that's just such a dean thing. Tension building is just about over, it's gonna be but kicking time soon... Thanks for reading - k

However, if by the time school was over and his brother was still missing that meant run. Run far, run fast, and run smart. Run far meant Pastor Jim's place in Blue Earth. Run fast meant, gather up only the essentials and head out right away. Run smart meant spend as little time as possible in the apartment. If Dean had been picked up by the police or worse it would take little time for someone from child services to decide that Sam also needed to be checked on. that's just terrible. i mean, in a good way of course, but terrible for an eleven year old kid. Loved it Kel!
Author's Response: Terrible in a good way, huh? Well I'll take that. So glad you enjoyed the update Fredo, and I finally seem to be getting back into the swing of things so I'll update soon - K
