I love the wasy the brothers get to one another with just little words and expressions! Sam's words to Dean in the hotel room perfectly illustrated their relationship. Wonderful job!
Author's Response: Thanks loads for reading. I'm glad you like it. I love exploring Sam and Dean's relationship throughout stories, they're such great characters. Thanks again!

RAE, I'M BACK AGAIN. ANOTHER GREAT CHAPTER. SOMETIMES THE "QUIET" CHAPTERS ARE THE MOST TELLING. THIS ONE CERTAINLY WAS. I LIKE THE COMPARISON BETWEEN JOHN'S UNTRUTHFULNESS/VAGUENESS WITH THE 18 YEAR OLD DEAN REGARDING THE DEATH OF THE "MONSTER" AND WITH DEAN'S TRUTHFULNESS WITH STUART REAGRDING THE SAME MATTER. COMPLETE OPENESS VS VEILED LIES. THIS CHAPTER AGAIN PEEKS AT DEAN'S LACK OF SELF WORTH IN SO MANY SUBTLE WORDS: "IT'S NOT LIKE I NEED IT", "YEAH WELL, BETTER ME", "WAS DAD REALLY THAT DISAPPOINTED IN ME". GREAT CHAPTER. CARRY ON, POOK
Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it. It is strange how different Dean and John are even though there's so many similarities between them. And then Dean's low self worth... poor guy. Thank you so much for reading!

Yer, good chapter. I am enjoying the story. Only by the time we get an update I have forgotten the story. Still it is a really good story and I know it takes time to write. So dont mean to moan. Please keep the story going and thank you.
Author's Response: Thanks so much for reading. I know what you mean about the updates and I'm sorry. I'll try and get some more up soon though. :)

Rae, This story is truly coming together as your finest work yet. All your stories faithfully incorporate the same smart-ass dialog between Dean and Sam that we all love so much (Nurse Nightmare LOL) but this time you managed to take the reader to an insight of John Winchester that we haven't been exposed to prior --- John's facade of strength giving way to the realization of the reality of having been close to losing his eldest. "The Dean" in the story is spot on as usual -- ever the unwavering guardian of all innocents -- willing to put himself in harms way for the benefit of a child. What a man! *sighs* The story keeps on giving, aside from the supernatural being's battle with Dean, you opened the door to the amulets's backstory and a new little tesser - the Harvelle incident. You are quickly emerging as one of the truly gifted authors of this site. Carry on, Pook
Author's Response: Thank you so much! It's always great to hear from you. This particularly story is probably one of my more thought out ones and switching between timelines allows for slightly lengthier chapters, so in a way I'm cheating >:) As for the dialogue, I really enjoy writing it... I enjoy writing it all, he he, but particularly the dialogue. I also like the opportunitu to include John and show others that I don't think he was all that bad. :) Thank you sooo much for your kind words and encouragement. They really do mean so much to me. -Rae!

I loved this part: " He loved his brother, how couldn't he? But he was so frustrating. Always playing the hero... always playing the martyr. "I don't even wanna move from this spot." Dean moaned, rolling his shoulders against the reasonably soft duvet and closing his eyes. "Well, that's your choice." Always your choice... no matter what I say. "Saaam..." Dean pleaded, understanding the underlying message. " Sometimes it must be hard to be Dean's little brother. But Sam is doing pretty good job, isn't he? And about your writing... I love it how you always capture their wonderful relationship so naturally.
Author's Response: Heya! Thanks so much for reading! :) I'm glad you liked that part... :D It must be pretty damn hard to be Sam like you said... And thanks! I'm really pleased you like my writing of the relationship - I put it down to Kripke and Co for creating such wonderful 3D characters that you can really love and get involved with. So thank you!

Terrific chapter Rae. Dean doesn't have his amulet to protect him, if the beast goes after him. I hate Halloway, the guy is heartless. Captivating story, can't wait to know what'll happen next.
Author's Response: Thanks! Halloway is definately a heartless b... Ok, I'll stop myself there... I'm glad you hate him! :D

Great update, Rae. Now Dean's more vulnerable than ever. I just love it when Sam gets so mad and frustrated with Dean--all out of love, of course. When he gets so angry and angsty ((sigh)). Can't wait for more.
Author's Response: Heya! Thanks so much for reading. I'm really glad you're liking it. I felt like I'd been abandoning Sam in previous chapters so I decided he needed to page time :D Being all mad and angry at Dean. Thanks again!

Good blend of past and present & both stories had me wanting more. Good conversations b/w the brothers and good story idea. Can’t wait to see more! Nice descriptive paragraph (one of many): He twisted his neck around, checking the direction he’d just come from before continuing on his search. Shadows, caused by the streetlights outside, danced across the dusty floor and each time he saw one move his heart hammered a little harder.
Author's Response: Heya! Thanks so much for reading! I'm glad that you're enjoying so far and thanks for your compliments! It's always great when people pick out certain parts of your story and say nice things about them so thank you! Hope you keep enjoying!

Oohh, great update. Uh oh--Dean's gonna give up his amulet. This is gonna be bad. :-) But in a good way, of course.
Author's Response: Thanks! And yeah, Dean giving up his amulet is gonna be baaaad on sooo many levels.

GIVE HIM THE AMULET are you crazy?????? Okay, so, I'm still loving this story - especially the flashbacks and I trust you enough to know you can write in a plot like this and get yourself out of it in style... Great work Rae
Author's Response: Maybe a little bit... I do have most of the next part of the story mapped out in my head but I'm not sure how everyone's gonna like it 'cause it's gonna be pretty cruel. I hope you'll enjoy reading it though. :)
Thank you!

The amulet protected Dean and he's going to give it to Stuart so he'll be vulnerable when the beast'll go after him. Great chapter Rae, it's getting better and better, can't wait for more.
Author's Response: He he, that's the plan... but the best laid plans of mice and men... Let's jsut say it's not gonna go all too smoothly. Thanks for reading!

Give away his amulet?! He can't do that! This just keeps getting better.
Author's Response: I have a plan! :) It's a very cruel plan but I think I'll be sticking to it, I just hope that you'll enjoy it. Thanks for reading!

Awesome, awesome job!! "Driving not only its nails but its fingers into his chest." That's just gross! This Halloway guy is starting to piss me off. John should kick his ass :D Can't wait to see what's gonna happen next. I admire you Rae.
Author's Response: Again - thank you loads! Definately wanted to go for the gross factor, he he. And I'm glad Halloway is pissing you off... there's more of him to come. THANK YOU! :D

Creepy and exciting! I loved Sam's line: "Yeah, well your choices suck." And this: "Hell or life without Sam? But to Dean, life without Sam was Hell." So very true, Rae. Now I'll go to read the next chapter... -->
Author's Response: heya!! Thank you loads for reading :) I'm glad you liked them lines, so thank you!

RAE, IT'S HARD TO IMAGINE IN A MIND'S EYE THAT DEAN WINCHESTER, A MAN'S MAN, WAS ONCE A YOUNG FUMBLING HUNTER! OOH...LOVE THE LITTLE LINE "STILL CAN'T TOUCH ME, CAN YOU?" THAT HUNT FROM DAYS GONE BY ISN'T NEARLY OVER YET IS IT? I SO MUCH PREFER OUR COMPETENT, SEASONED, BUT ALWAYS EVER COCKY, DEAN. CARRY ON TALENTED AUTHOR! POOK
Author's Response: Heya! Lol - I know what you mean about the young fumbling hunter, bless him, he's just nervous. And I agree, I love competent and cocky Dean, there's a special place in my heart (with candy) for him. And yips, the hunt from before - definately not over. >:) Thank you loads!!!

Author's Response: Lol - dark places eh? Same here... we should start carrying holy water and silver bullets around with us... Thank you loads!! The creature is definately one I really wouldn't like to meet alone on a dark night.

That was an intense and suspenseful chapter. That creature gave me the creeps. Halloway was so obsessed that he didn't care about Dean. Terrific work Rae. I'm at the edge of my seat waiting for more.
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm glad you liked it :) And I'm glad the creatures creeps you out too, he he >:) And yeah, Halloway is definately obsessive... and it's gonna get worse :D
