You have to forgive him instantly, before the smoke has even exited the barrel, when he shoots you. Twice. It sounded magnanimous even before you added 'twice.' Now i'm thinking Sainthood. ...he has no job. Except to be your little brother. Forever. I just love that line! ...but because his heart leapt at it, signed him on for life. That is the true reason Dean Winchester does the big brother thing like no one else.

Wow, I loved this!! It was incredible. You did so much with one little word. I love stories that reference Dean acting as sort of a surrogate parent for Sam, and where Sam realizes all Dean does for him. This was a great one. I especially liked this: "You have to be completely bamboozled when your brother says that it's his job to look out for you as well. Because as far as you're concerned he has no job. Except to be your little brother. Forever." Cuz I know that's just how Dean feels. Nicely done. I'm adding this to my favorites.

Wow, this little piece of reflection was amazing. I love it so much! Cause, in my family, I am the oldest of six and I like to consider myself the big sister. It sometimes feels like I could never connect to my younger siblings like Dean does his, but you writing this really helps me even think of what it means to be a big sibling. That was amazing. You nailed the aspects of their relationship so perfectly I could just picture this realisation coming to Sam. You are absolutely right about all of those moments from S1 & S2 and how Dean sees them, and I think you really 'got' how Sam saw the situation at the end of AHBL2 as well. That is possibly my favourite SN scene ever, the total feeling Sam puts into that declaration, and you just made it even better which I wouldn't have thought possible! Awesome! :)

Another beautiful story. You are so right. That line at the end of AHBL really got to me too. I really believe that Sam has come to a realization about his "big" brother this past year. It will have a profound effect on him. I can't wait to see how all this plays out in Season 3. Can't wait to read your next story.

This is such an incredible, amazing piece!!!! It touched me in so many ways, bringing tears to my eyes. My two favorite parts are: "not because it was his responsibility... but because his heart leapt at it" and when Sam's eyes are opened and he says, "you're my big brother, and there is nothing I wouldn't do for you." I look forward to reading more from you in the future!!

I have to say that I found the last exchange between Sam and Dean a little too brief. I've heard that Kripke's original script was a mini-series so they had to chop a lot. It's nice to have this to fill that scene out a little more. Looking forward as always to your next story too....

This was so good, ciel! Very wonderful and insightful work here. Who knew that word could have such meaning. And I guess everyday, those of us with older siblings kind of take that for granted.
