This is the first story I have read that you have written. I really enjoyed it and plan to read more of your work. I hope you will continue to write and post Supernatural stories here.
Author's Response: Thank you so much for this! I'm pleased that you've enjoyed it, and I appreciate you taking time to offer me your review! I hope that you enjoy any of the other stories I've posted here. Due to some creative differences, I stopped posting my stories on UnGen in 2008, but I haven't stopped writing. All stories are posted on ff.net (under my same name) or on my LiveJournal. Thank you for spending time with me! Gaelic

He wanted to reach out, touch her hair, feel her hand against his cheek. He wanted to tell her that he'd missed her, that he thought of her every day, that he'd fight to protect the baby she had given her life for. You're killing me here. Once again a great story.
Author's Response: Oh, yay! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. It was hard for me to write within the word limit for the contest, but I'm very pleased that it won. AND that you liked it. Thanks again for taking time to comment!! Best, Gaelic

Beautiful, moving exploration of that episode and of Dean's commitment to protecting Sam. I love that you drew a parallel between the sacrifice Mary made and the ones Dean makes for Sam. Well done, you.
Author's Response: Thanks, lady. I appreciate you taking time to review -- your comments are better than cake. :) GS

congratulations, never apologize for being wordy, wordy is good. Had lump in my throat, while reading. Quite sad Dean realizing he will still bear his burden even in death. Brilliant as always. Many thanks Lorraine
Author's Response: Thanks for the "wordy is good" comment. It's hard, though, when there are word limits in certain contests -- which is why I usually shy away from such things. But... it was a convention in my hometown and I was compelled... I'm am so glad you enjoyed this and that it entertained you. Best always, GS

Ya know, no disrespect to the others that entered, but there is a reason this piece won....it is simply gut wrenchingly consuming in the love that poors from it, and the level of emotion that most of us have experienced towards someone or something in our lives....you are just the master at puting it into words. Thank you for sharing your gift, and for giving us all a sense of Hope, that no matter how bleak the present may seem, the future truely is bright. BGBSBY R
Author's Response: Aww, thanks. :) I am happy you had a chance to read it -- and always, always love it when you review. Take care of you -- GS

A deserving winner...congratulations! "Home" was such an emotional episode, and you've written about the undercurrents so well here. It broke me up that Sam noticed that Dean looks like their mom. *sniff* Just lovely!
Author's Response: Thank you, ciel. That means a lot to me. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your comments. Best, GS

>>Aw, God… Something inside of him broke at the sound of her voice.Shaking, he tried to force something, anything out between his trembling lips, but there was nothing left inside to carry the sounds his heart out into the world. His eyes and body followed her as she stepped past him and approached Sam. >>But with one last sacrifice, his mother had settled the weight back where it belonged, and Dean was dizzy from an odd mixture of relief and fear. >>Dean looked at his brother. Hell no, I'm not okay. We're here, Dad's not… Mom's spirit… Christ, Sam, Mom's spirit saved you… How can I ever do less? And then that ending...how Sam says he looks like her...how Dean knows even in death he needs to protect Sam...cause his mom did...Guh. *removes knife from chest* Well, I'll never look at that scene the same way again... -SJ
Author's Response: *blushes furiously* Thanks for that, my friend. I'm flattered that you said you'll look at the scene differently now... wow. :) I always love your reviews. Sorry about the knife, though. That could leave a mark... GS

Wonderful! Thanks you so much for this beautiful story. Home was an amazing episode and I remember so many things about it. It was so touching seeing Dean desperately trying to call his Dad and his reaction to Mary's spirit. You did a great job showing the emotions of both boys. Well done!
Author's Response: Thanks! I agree wholeheartedly about that episode. I was almost unable to write anything about it because the emotion conveyed in the actual episode was so amazing -- but since the con was held in Lawrence, it was only fitting that *that* was the episode chosen to write about. :) I appreciate your reading and taking time to review. Best, GS

So glad you won, Gaelic ...you so deserved it...!!!!!!!!
Author's Response: Thank you, Jude. It was so fantastic to meet you -- and I hope to see your one-shot posted soon! (unless it is already, in which case I'll head over and review now...) I really enjoyed reading it. Looking forward to the next part of Mezmerized. GS

Imagine my surprise when I saw the word count..... And yet - it's still brilliant! I love the way you interpret the episode as a catalyst for Dean rededicating himself to Sam. It just feels sooo right. Loved Sam's "You look like her" - gah. Just in case Dean didn't feel responsible enough for his bro... Definitely prize worthy - but then I think everything your write is prize worthy - and don't let anyone pick on you for being "wordy" - since when is more not better????
Author's Response: Aw, lam... you are so sweet. I could hug you right now. *HUGS* The word count was indeed a challenge for me. I almost didn't enter because of that -- I was convinced that there was no way I could write anything worth reading in less than 2000 words. There are some absolutely AMAZING writers out there that can pack a powerful emotional punch inside a few well-chosen words -- Gumnut being one of them. But, I do not place myself in that category. However, because I was so daunted, I found myself compelled to try. And this is the result. SO, that said, I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it -- and that you got my idea about this being the pivotal moment for Dean's *purpose* in life. Before this episode, I saw Dean moving in the steps he'd always taken to watch out for and protect Sam, but after this episode, I saw Dean really *feeling* it. He had a mission again. Could be just the filter that I watch the show through -- my background and whatnot, but that's what I saw. Sheesh -- see? Even review replies are wordy. I should just say: thank you for reading and I appreciate the review. Slainte -- GS

Awesome missing scene! It's was nice to see Sammy being there for Dean as he was getting over the shock of seeing their mother again!
Author's Response: Thanks, Sammygirl -- I'm glad you liked it. I always thought Dean was a bit too shaken up after that moment to just... go about... business as usual. And these boys know how to take care of each other in a very unique way. GS

Oh wow! The emotions were very thick (in a good way) and I could actually feel what Dean was feeling...this is very, very powerful...gorgeous work.
Author's Response: *grin* Thanks, Shiny. That was a lovely compliment -- for a reader to feel what the character is feeling is a writer's wish every time. At least... for this writer. :) Best -- GS

Ah, I loved this! Home is my favorite episode from the first season. I know Jensen has always said that Dead in the Water was the episode in which he started to really learn about Dean, but for me it was always Home. Seeing him on the phone on the verge of tears begging John for help...and then his reaction to seeing Mary...it was like his soul was laid wide open...and I just realized how deep this guy was. This tag made me feel all that all over again...thanks for posting it!
Author's Response: I'm right there with you. I loved the scene in DITW where he opens up a bit to Lucas and Sam sees -- but it's the moment on the phone when his voice cracks with the "I don't know what to do" that, guh, just got me. Right in the gut. It so foreshadowed AHBL 2 with his "what am I supposed to do" plea. *whimpers* I'm glad that this tag brought that feeling back again. I find myself watching vids and reading fics just to get that kick before the next season starts. I am pleased this did that in a little way for you. Thanks again for spending time with me -- I always enjoy hearing from you. GS

(((HUGS))) Another job well-done! A prize-winner for sure. I'm so glad I finally got a chance to read it. Again, loved the part where Sam tells Dean he looks like Mary. I love connecting Mary and Dean in any way possible. Be proud, it's a great piece. Congrats! Nicole
Author's Response: Thanks, Nicole. *hugs back* I appreciate the multiple site reviews -- A LOT -- and I'm glad you enjoyed this. I'm with you - connecting Dean to Mary really, really works for me. :) Always enjoy hearing from you -- GS
