Wow. What a cool twist to have Sam be Wrath when Dean's the more "obvious" choice. And what better way to enrage Sam than to hurt Dean the way Bob did? Perfect. You two have written one hell of a story here. I've been intrigued by the whole idea of what faith means to the boys, especially after HOTH, and you did a beatiful job of delving into that topic while keeping the boys true to character and keeping the reader engaged. Well done, both of you!
Author's Response: Aww, lady, THANK YOU for doing this. We both so appreciate that you are reading. So hope you like the wrap-up. Much cake to you, my friend. GS (and SJ)

What can I say...! Plot is bubbling away and starting to steam nicely, descriptions are beautifully lyrical and the dialogue is spot on and funny as hell in places... ...but what struck me the hardest was the opener. As if Sam's dream wasn't powerful and painful enough...to punish Dean with waking nightmares of the worst and most traumatic events of his life, was one of the most dominant and poignant things I've ever read on this site. Beautifully written and very believable, I was right there with Sam all the way, and even shed a tear myself - and I don't do chickflick... ...I also don't usually do deathfic but have read one or two, and Sam's dream sequence was up there with the best of them. Another awesom job...roll on tomorrow!
Author's Response: Louy -- thanks so much! I, personally, and so glad you connected with Dean's waking nightmare... that's one thing I used to have to handle with my younger brother, and I thought it might really fit what Dean was going through. So, thanks for that. We're both so happy you're reading and leaving comments. Makes me so happy. :) Hee. Gaelic (and SJ)

Thank you both, very much for a truly thought provoking story..... Really and truly enjoyed EVERY bit of it.......looking forward to your additional bit of upcoming closure... :0) Jude

Second chapter as good as the first, and the plot thickens. I always know it's going to be good when there are dead clergy about...lol I'm really enjoying the way you continually refer back to the deal, and other events from the show. That always makes for a solid and believable tale. And one that could easily be an episode in it's own right. There is some of the finest 'sarcastic snark' especially from Dean in this chapter and I could spend another hour quoting lines that by rights should become legendary Winchesterisms... ...and any story that quotes Zeppelin is OK by me... A great painter once wrote that every color in the spectrum could be seen in every glance, if you just know how to look...and that must be what's happening with Dean's eyes...lol...hazel to green and back...I obviously haven't been staring into Dean's eyes anywhere near enough - must rectify that! Great work, both of you!
Author's Response: *laugh!* Dead clergy... hee. SO glad you're still reading and enjoying how the story is unraveling. The dialog and references to the deal were some of our favorite parts to write. As for the eye color... *cough*... I'm just gonna say that with eyes like Dean's, you can never look enough, and with two people writing, sometimes hazel is green and sometimes green is hazel. Either way, they are heavenly... Thanks so much for reading and we hope you continue to enjoy! GS and SJ

Hi ladies! I've been counting the days to your return, so my list starts off with: 1. Forty seven.... twenty three....twelve times a minute...... The numbers really resonated with me. 2. Dean wondered if his father had known about the deal. I love it when writers read my mind and express things I've wondered about too! 3. Dean wanted to wake him and tell him to look at their father with him… That line is so beautiful. Just....guh. 4. God he hated this… hated waiting for Heaven to finally step in, and for Hell to collect… Guh. Again. 5. I love the encounter with Fr Sterling, even though you didn't describe it. The way Dean reported it to Sam made me smile. 6. “Yeah, but,” Sam protested, “I talked to you… I talked to you all the time back then, and I guess I… just never stopped to think that you weren’t talking back.” Okay. I'm more than a little weepy for Dean right now. That is EXACTLY how I picture his childhood. 7. "You knew what Bob was doing. You knew how to get rid of him." I love smart!Dean. "Guess blood loss isn't..." Dean swallowed, blinking, working to focus his eyes. "Isn't covered in the Heavenly Healthcare Plan." And funny!Dean. 8. Fabulous update, worth every second of the wait.(Besides, a wedding is an excellent excuse. Hope you're enjoying married life sojourner!) Excellent plotting...the idea of the fallen angel was pure genius, but it wouldn't have been enough to carry the story on its own.The twists and turns in the story fleshed it out so well. And I loved the way Sam was wrath.....because he loves his brother and couldn't stand to see him tortured. *sniff* I'm SO glad there's more to come. See you both soon!
Author's Response: Ciel! I was so excited to see your list!! Ahem: 1. As that was SJ's genious, I am going to have to agree with you. When she completed that first part, I read it going "Yes. Absolutely. I can see that. I've *done* that." 2. Y'know, I gotta think that somehow... on some level... John knows. Or, knew. Something about the way he looked at Dean at the end of AHBL2... 3. I think your hero is your hero no matter what, yeah? And John certainly is Dean's hero. That line was the magic of SJ. :) 4. For some reason saying a battle between Heaven and Hell felt bigger to us than a battle between good and evil... *shrug* 5. Dean is a classic. He really is. The combination of Kripke's genious and Jensen's acting as etched a character in our heads that I don't think will wane for a long time to come. 6. With you there. I read somewhere once that it's those who do the protecting that are the most fragile. For me, that's Dean. 7. *grins* 8. Thank you so much, Ciel. Reviews like yours have given us something to look forward to each time we post. And we're both so glad you liked the twists and turns in this story that lead us on the winding path toward the defeat of a fallen angel. We hope you like the epilogue! Best always, GS and SJ

Gaelic and SJ, I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to both of you. This chapter was just beautiful. I felt the brother's pain and their love for eachother. I had huge tears just coursing down my cheeks when I read. Yes, I'm a sap! I can't help it. These boys just break my heart every time. The power of Faith is amazing. I felt it was so fitting that Dean's faith in Sam was what pulled Sam back from the darkness. Dean may question God but he never falters when it comes to Sam. There is an amazing balace between these two. They are eachother's streangth. When one seems to falter, the other provides the will or way to go on. It's a relationship born out of something so tragic yet it's beautiful to behold. Wonderful job ladies. I'm rivited! Can't wait for the epilogue Love, Brit
Author's Response: Believe me, Brit, we're sappy right there with you. We were both moved to tears as we wrote our respective parts of this chapter. Thanks so much for commenting on the power of Faith. We agree with you! And the balance between the brothers... so fantastic. I think you gotta believe in *something*... be that a higher power or your baby brother, belief will get you through the dark times. Thanks again! GS and SJ

Wow, just wow. To quote Demon!John in “Devil’s Trap”, now this was worth waiting for – what a spectacular final battle. Loved the serene quiet in the opening scene, Dean watching his brother in his fretful sleep, afraid to look away for fear of losing him. Counting things, keeping track - a reflection of Dean counting down his own time, perhaps? Silent memories of his father niggling at the back of his mind. And then we see Sam’s silent struggle, wrestling with his lost faith – in himself, in God, trying to steel himself for battle against this fallen angel, against losing his brother to damnation. Those quiet scenes are truly the calm before the storm. Brilliant. I thought that the way Sam solved the riddle was very clever – cemeteries are where people go to forgive. That is Sam’s reality; Dean’s is that he needs to stay away from the reality that death is final, that he will no longer be able to be with his loved one. And, oh, how it tugged at my heart when Dean admits to Sam that he needed him and Sam tells him that he’s always needed him. “Dean stared at him for a moment, letting those words spill over him and fill him. He’d needed to hear that. Probably more than Sam would ever understand” Oh Dean. The final battle in the mausoleum was absolutely breath-stealing, just phenomenal. Literally good versus evil, love versus hate, faith versus doubt, rage versus control. Such powerful emotions so perfectly played out in a battle of wills with Dean’s life as the “prize”. Man, you put Dean through the wringer and then wrung him out some more! Thank God Dean was able to get through to Sam before he became the victim of “Wrath” - “Sam, I need you to believe” and “Sam, you’re my faith”. My heart broke for Sam when he held his dying brother in his arms after defeating the fallen angel: “I prayed every day, and I’m still going to lose you” All’s well that ends well. I have to admit that the whole “white light” healing thing was a bit out there (Mulder alert!), but since I didn’t want Dean to die, I’ll take it on faith ;). Fabulous, amazing chapter – definitely one for the annuls. You ladies seriously rock. Looking forward to the epilogue as this story draws to a close. I, for one, will be so sorry to see it end. This has been the best kickass story I’ve read in a long time. Until next time…
Author's Response: Oh, Irish, thank you so much for this detailed review! I simply loved your interpretation of the emotions and discussions we wove through the chapter. So glad you enjoyed the final battle. When we were plotting this out, it was never a question in our minds that Sam would be Wrath, but we knew we had to be careful to balance what we know of Dean and what we know of Sam to what the situation was going to push both of them toward. And I'll take a faith-based outlook on the white-light healing any day. Loved the Mulder reference -- ha! We know how easy it is to write darkness and how hard it is to believe in light. We wanted them to actually have a miracle, just this one time. Thanks so much for the kickass comment! That made me laugh out loud. We so appreciate your reading and your faithful feedback. Hope you enjoy the epilogue! Slainte, Gaelic and SJ

Only just started reading this, and I have to say...I'm so very pleased I did. Took a while to get up the courage to tackle the long chapters but they are so easy to read they don't feel anywhere near as long as they actually are. As for the story, the plot got me hooked straight away...it's a great mix of emotion and action woven together with mystery and suspense. I'm actually regreting limiting myself to only one chapter a day! All this and written in a fluid and descriptive way. I couldn't tell where you went from one author to the other as it's been put together so very well . Enjoying this hugely!! - will move on tomorrow!
Author's Response: Louy -- SO happy to see you reading this! We both hope you continue to enjoy the story as the days progress... Hopefully the long chapters won't scare you off. I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks again for starting! Gaelic (and SJ)

Hey :) Finally got through the chapter and let me just say straight up that it was well worth the wait! I love it! The whole scene in the motel room was great with Dean not sleeping ... he needs a slap sometimes i swear. Sam's almost breakdown in the bathroom ... and then the showdown. AWESOME!!! It was such a different way to hurt them that I have seen anyways and I loved that!! Sam's rage was great coz you could really feel it. The whole healing thing was handled terrific and Im glad that even tho he was healed he still had to battle with bloodloss and lack of sleep no doubt :P lmao Glad to see this updated and Fantastic job :)!!! Tara x0x
Author's Response: Tara -- thanks so much for the multiple reviews. :) And I'm so glad you liked the re-opening of old wounds. Seemed like a fitting thing for an angel to be able to do when they have "absolute power." And yeah, can't heal our boy COMPLETELY now can we? That would be too kind... Thanks again! Gaelic and SJ

But, I cried! When Sam was holding Dean and he though he was dying in his arms I sat at my computer and sobbed. Fantastic writing & imagery.
Now I'm going to go eat some chocolate to cheer myself up!

In fact, I'm eating some now... *pauses to savor* Don't think me evil, but I am glad we made you cry. :) Being told that a reader is physically affected by something you've written is the highest compliment you could give a writer. :) Thank you so much for reading. I love you guys...no really I love you both to bits! I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this story and this last chapter was (to use a Christmas analogy, tis the season after all) the shining star on top of the tree! Usually I like to review right after I've read something, but I was so utterly wrecked by the time I finished that I needed to just walk away for a while and collect myself...seriously I had to get some kleenex! The confrontation with the angel was some of the most beautiful, powerful, soul crushing writing I have ever read. I think you both have nailed the incredibly deep bond between Sam and Dean....it's a thing of indescribable beauty. I think the image of Dean lying in Sam's lap, bleeding to death, and Sam screaming to the heavens has been seared into my brain. I really love the bond of faith that exists between these two men...Sam's faith in a higher power...Dean's faith in Sam, which sort of gives him a vicarious faith in something bigger than himself...and then when they were healed at the end...had me smiling through my tears :-) I'm really sad to see this one end...although I am looking forward to the epilogue and the gift....
Author's Response: Phoenix! We're so glad you enjoyed this. And I loved knowing that you had to walk away for a bit before reviewing. SJ and I both were affected as we wrote our respective sections and hoped that some of the emotion we poured into our words would leak out and touch some readers. Thanks for validating us! *ducks* Please don't hit me for not getting on here sooner and leaving you guys a review! Truth is, I read it as soon as you posted it but then school projects got in the way and they wouldn't let me get on...grrrr. Enough complaining, though! Yes, this incredible chapter was totally worth the long wait. I was so ecited when I saw it up that I believe I resorted to my teen years and began squealing like a fangirl. I have absolutely loved the way you two have built the suspense, mystery, and angst throughout this entire story and this chapter did not disappoint! I love that we now know for sure what we're dealing with...(an avenging angel named Bob...best thing ever). This angel is seriously off his rocker though but a tiny part of me sees why he's doing the things he's doing. He really thinks he's justified in carrying out these punishments to the people he feels deserves them, albeit he is taking it to the extremes. I'm happy the boys figured out where he was going to strike next but Bob was ready for them and certainly put a whooping on our brothers. Sam going into the hay hooks...made my stomach go up into so many knots...yech. And this angel certainly seems to have a beef with Sam (but maybe I'm imagining it, too...who knows). I loved the emotion at the end of the chapter...so powerful and really made my heart ache for the brothers. I am so ready for the next chapter so bring it on when you can!
Author's Response: Anytime you review is a good time, SNSam. :) We love hearing what you think -- especially when your reviews are like this! So glad you enjoyed "Envy" and we really hope you'll like Sunday's chapter. An avenging angel was something we'd had planned from the beginning, so it was great to see the response to Bob... This story is so enthralling. A pissed off angel? Great! As if there wasn't enough evil to fight, now we've got arsey angels too. It's sooo sad that sam's lost his faith and that part about having to take care of himself after dean's gone really brought tears to my eyes. I can't wait for the 'bloody Sunday' and epilogue, but that will mean its finished. At least I can print it all out and read it whenever I like. Gaelic & So, I'm starting to feel like an alligator waiting for food to fall into the swamp! I surf and surf the "JUST ADDED" list until ... the alligator finds the food --- Chapter 6 of Sunday Bloody Sunday! You two made my weekend. There's sooo much going on within this chapter. The message will stick with me just as "Houses of the Holy" did with the dissection of Sam's belief then disbelief and with Dean's disbelief then belief. For some reason, I find comfort with that episode just as I know comfort will come to both boys in your coming chapter. Again the writing excels -- I lose myself within the images your writing conjure, I lose myself in the dialog between the boys, but mostly I lose myself within the subtext always expertly weaved into your words. Both of you did not let the reader down. Within the story, it seems Dean has accepted his destiny with hell from the moment the deal was made but it doesn't mean it isn't constantly, incessently clawing at his brain - his claustrophobia in his room (hell), the fire and his physical burning (hell). I find it interesting how Sam sees the deal materializing, growing ever more real, tangilble -- seeing Dean hanging above the fire (hell), watching his father's body burning (hell) and the realization that one deal will take Dean, his hero, his protector, from him. Take him to hell just as the fallen angel has stripped Sam's belief from him. But the question remains: as Dean sees Sam's last defense from evil, something he needs so desparately when Sam is on his own, alone torn from him -- will Dean pull Sam from the "fire" or will Sam pull Dean. Who will be whose angel? I can't help but see the parallels between the fallen angel and Sam. The fallen angel lost his "faith" as he watched, protected, fought for the ever failing mankind yet never received accolades and praise. This parallels with Sam who questions with all the good they have done in his and Dean's lives, all the evil they have destroyed, all the prayers Sam has prayed but has received no thanks, no saving Dean from his deal, no saving Mom, Jess and Dad. Dean, the so-called non-believer, realizes we all fall even God's messengers - be it angelic or human. He realizes that with intervention from God, belief in God, the power of God must be held on to for Sam's sake, it for nothing else, belief in something as simple as blessed water can battle evil - can save - and something a simple as a human can be a saving angel. Carry on oh so talented authors! Pook ***Favorite phrase of the chapter**** "wireless pirate whore"
Author's Response: Hiya Pook! First, your favorite phrase? The magic of SJ's subtle humor. :) She's awesome at that. This review blew me away. The layers that you dig out from our planning and our thought processes... it's as if you've been watching the plot development all this time! I read this with chills -- literal chills. As for the question of who will be whose angel? For SJ and I, that answer was clear from the moment we began our outline. We hope the end result works for you because it was very fitting for us. My favorite thing you've said is about Dean, our resident "non-believer," believing in the power of his brother's faith. That was the one thing I held on to while writing my parts of this chapter. When it comes to "faith"... I personally think there are all kinds and even those who claim that they don't -- or can't -- believe in God, believe in something. They have to in order to survive. ::steps off soapbox:: Thanks so much, again, for your thoughtful review. We truly hope that Sunday's chapter entertains you. Slainte, Gaelic (and SJ)

Oh gosh, you guys, I'm sooo sorry I haven't reviewed yet, I read this sometime Sunday, but was so intent on laying down that I told myself I'd leave a review later. Honestly, I've felt like crap for almost two weeks and it just left me exhausted this week...so forgive me? *grins* OF COURSE, it was another awesome chapter filled with intrigue and action in equal doses. I admit that I was a little sad that the evil thing turned out to be an angel (I have a soft spot for angels), but I kinda suspected as much after the last chapter.
Anyway, you guys are amazing as ever and I look forward to the next one!
Take care,

Author's Response: Aww... I'm sorry we made you sad. I know what you mean about soft spots for angels, but, at least for me, it's sometimes a fitting reminder to see that in one way or another, everyone is human to an extent.
