Nice work ladies.  As usual, so descriptive that I could picture everything perfectly in my head.  Sams confusion about Dean and his attitude towards the deal.  Dean, as ever, appearing on the outside as the strong one, hiding his own thoughts, fears, & pain deep inside.  I loved the whole chapter, but here are a few bits that really stood out for me. “…all Dean had to do was smile at her…”  Of course!!  If he smiled at me, I’d be busy for the next several hours too!!   I particularly liked the moment Sam realises that Dean felt him die, and what that must have been like for him.  Although you didn’t dwell on it too much, that simple paragraph really moved me. “He didn’t need an external countdown to his final moments”.   Exactly-  back off Sam, help Dean instead of reminding him of the death sentence hanging over him.  Dean sacrificing himself for Sam, putting his brother through exactly the same thing his Dad did to him, expecting Sam to be able to live with the knowledge that Dean will go to hell for saving him. “I plan on getting as much as I can of the things I like” ….. After reading the description of Dean eating his dinner, I’m wondering – is Dean a candidate for gluttony??!! Dean going completely still.  I can totally see that. “If God were listening we might actually be able to take a break once in awhile.”  Reminded me of HOTH, where Dean was adamant that angels didn’t exist.  I’m with Sam on that one, there has to be some good somewhere to balance out the evil that they fight. I’m intrigued as to why Dean is resisting the idea of this being the work of a demon. Thanks again for your hard work, have a great weekend.  As ever, I am looking forward to the next post – you always leave me wanting more.  Although, I guess they say patience is a virtue!!

Author's Response:

I adore that you pull out lines that you like in your review -- it means a lot to writers when they're told was really works for them. :)

I'm glad you felt it was descriptive and that you enjoyed it. And honestly? Dean's a candidate for almost every sin if you think about it... hee.

So glad you're left wanting more -- and though virtuous, we won't make you wait too long...

Oh my god you guys this is fantastic! You know those speculations I made after the last chapter? Well they've grown into a full blown theory (complete with research a la Sam) and now with this chapter I think I'm on the right track. I love it!

I'm really looking forward to Wednesday. The punishment for the sin I'm thinking it's going to be is interesting to say the least. It'll be fun to see how you work that one out.

Still don't know what's killing these people though...Dean's instincts about these things are usually right...so I'm not entirely convinced it's a demon...still working on that piece of the puzzle!

Author's Response:

Hee. I love that your mind is working through this, Phoenix. If all goes well, Wednesday will be posted at the end of next week -- one chapter a week is the plan.

And... you *may* be surprised by Wednesday's sin... but each day has a punishment that's been twisted to suit our purposes, so we hope you enjoy. :)

Thanks as always for reading and taking time to review.

I know I was supposed to be tying up loose ends and reading that outline but I saw this had posted and I HAD to read it.  This is beautifully descriptive, and it keeps everything moving while still forming those lovely pictures in your mind. Really well done guys. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much, T!! I love that you reviewed!! I don't even mind having to wait on your response to the outline. :)

It's so good to get your take on this -- if you can see it in your head, then we've done a decent job. And just wait... there's more to come. And Friday is just a few chapters away... ;)

Whoa! Awesome chapter, guys...my favorite part was when Dean says, "Wait. The Ring girl did this?"...ha ha ha...okay, maybe it's not that funny, but still...great job, can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Shiny. Each chapter is its own challange and its own reward for us. This was a necessary one to move the plot of the murders along, and we had some fun writing the boys sneaking into the church, their back and forth with the issues that they just can't lay to rest, and most of all, Dean's snark.

And seriousl? The Ring was probably the creepiest movie I've ever seen. Like... ever. :)

So glad you enjoyed -- hope to see you soon and often!

Oh another great adventure begins and what a whumping little start that was.  And I loved the little chat on the end of the pier that was special.

Hearing Dean's hesitancy is making goosebumps and my mouth is watering with anticipating of all the good stuff to come.

Dean and his doily was very funny, I can just picture his face.

I wonder what the bible, letter and chain all have in common. Come on, Sam put the pieces together, this girl is dying to know.

Feed the reader, pls she's hungry!

Author's Response:

*grin* Thanks so much, Jane! We're so pleased that you enjoyed this first chapter!! Sam will start putting the pieces together soon -- but that's just the tip of the iceberg for the boys on this hunt.

Much angst and some considerable whumpage ahead in the chapters to come. Hope to see you soon and often!

Great start! Threw us right into the action feet first again :)  And some action it is - Dean is getting pounded to smitereens. Just LOVE Hurt!Dean and all his snarky comments that make things worse for him. I feel a bit sorry for Sam who blames himself for all the loose demons, thinking that if he had killed Jake sooner, none of this (or his brother's deal) would have happened. That's a lot of baggage. Poor Sam.

The hunt intrigues me. It's Monday and there is a killing and a message about pride. Methinks we're dealing with the seven deadly sins here, so all hell is gonna break loose, isn't it? :)  Culminating with Sunday perhaps...

The boys' banter is so much fun to read. Their conversations are so spot on. Just loving the story. It's going to be another helluva ride, I'm sure. Looking forward to where you ladies are taking it. Until next time...

Author's Response:

Glee! It's you! So happy to see you here. Thanks for reading and for the review.

I enjoy reading action-packed beginings (and watching them in the movies, too) so it feels write when stories I'm working on begin that way... then they can back off a bit for perspective before WHAMO! The action grabs you once more.

At least... that's our plan. ;)

And you're right -- Sam's carrying around a lot of weight right now, and it's only going to get heavier...

You're onto something there, sister, with your musings about the hunt. Hopefully you'll hang with us until the end 'cause if we do it right, Sunday will certainly be bloody...

Thanks for the kudos on the dialog and banter. :) We "heard" it while writing, so it's gratifying to know it worked for you, too.

So, I'm going to state the obvious....you two have done it again!!!  I love it!!  There are some personal things in here, that I must thank GS for...just our history.  It's nice to NOT be able to pick out where one of you starts and the other leaves off...you are very in sync with eachother.

I love the "boy banter".  They make me smile, and we all know that ain't easy.  They are just so real.  I feel like I'm watching a movie or an episode (Kripke's gang should take the hint, they need your talen). Entertaining doesn't even begin to cover it.  The talent oozes from you both.  Give yourselves the proverbial pat, and be proud.  Another job well done.  Update soon.  I'm send'en the love....

Author's Response:

Thanks, woman! I'm so happy to see you review! *does dance* Thanks for the compliments -- they are much appreciated by both.

Hope to keep you hooked and keep you coming back!

Wow guys, great start!  Looking forward to reading the rest.

It’s not the years…. it’s the mileage” – Indiana Jones, great reference.  I can totally see Dean saying something like that….. volunteers to take care of Dean!!

I like the way this follows from AHBL, with both Sam and Dean trying to deal with the events of that time.  Sams dogged determination that he is going to save Dean this time, and why do I think that Dean will never give up trying to save Sam from anything and everything until the bitter end!

Hhhmm, I’m interested to see where the next part of this story is going to take us, and the boys, Mercy definitely seems like a creepy town.

Can’t wait for your next post….more please!

Author's Response:

*CLAPS*

You're the first person to catch that reference! Or... at least the first to comment on it. Heh! Thanks so much -- I love Indy and we couldn't help but reference another tough hero in Dean's voice.

Glad you're having fun reading -- hope to have the next part up later this week, if all goes well.

I think you've done a great job of addressing the aftermath of the deal and the release of the demons. This is a very interesting premise and I'm looking forward to reading more. And I laughed out loud when Dean suggested the demon was "banging the Crossroads bitch." Such a Dean thing to say. You've both done a fantastic job writing the boys. Good stuff!!

Yippeee, it's here so soon, before I was expecting it! Christmas has come early again!

I love it that this story takes place so soon after AHBL2, because Dean and Sam dealing with Dean's deal is my all-time favourite topic at the moment, and I know you will do a fabulous job exploring it.

I laughed out loud when the giant's name was Andre, certainly helped me visualise his proportions! Very clever ladies! And terrific description of the action:

If Sam didn’t finish the rite soon, this guy was going to kill him. From the man’s size alone, Dean knew a few more glancing blows like the one to his jaw would send his brain smashing into the side of his skull.

Yikes.

Dean's dream had me very teary, as did their conversation by the lake. In fact I would have been a blithering mess, were it not for lines like this one:

“I solved it, dude,” Dean announced. “The guy pinned himself under a rock.”

Beautiful job ladies, sign me up for the next chapter - as soon as possible!

What a fantastic beginning to a story! I am so glad to see the two of you teamed up since you are both such phenomenal authors!

I love the emotion you have in this chapter...very deep and it is such that I can actually feel it between the brothers. As for this new case, definitely creepy...I'm with Sam, I think this is their kind of thing!

I'm looking forward to more!!!

Author's Response:

Yay! You agree with Sam. Hee.

Thanks so much for reading and reviewing -- it means the world to us. I'm glad you felt the emotion in ths chapter. We are working to lace the angst (with the right amount of balance with action and banter) throughout the story. You'll be the judge if we succeeded. :)

Well done both of you excellent start. Writing is so descriptive that this story is playing in my mind like a movie, takes real talent to do that.

"Sam" he muttered into the soft pillowcase.

"It`s right here" Sam replied sliding his Bowie knife under the pillow until Dean could wrap his fingers around the hilt.

This played in my mind ,also an image of a small boy hugging a teddy as his security blanket appeared.

Just one of so many that i wanted to mention, but i won`t waste your time. many, many thanks can`t wait for your next update, Lorraine

Author's Response:

*grin* I'm so glad you liked that scene. It just seemed to fit. And we're thrilled that you can see this like a movie -- it's a movie in our minds while we write, so it's very satisfying that it works that way for you.

And just so you know, you are never wasting anyone's time when you take the time to leave a review -- any and all writers will be interested in what you have to say. SJ and I both are!!

Wow, great start! Both of your writing styles mesh very well, it is so wonderful to read! I have always thought it would be interesting to see something along the lines of the 'Seven Deadly Sins' in Supernatural. Now with this story and the premiere coming soon I find I'm not the only one who thought of it! Great job, ladies. I am looking forward to seeing what's going to happen to the boys in creepsville Mercy. :) Keep up the good work!

Author's Response:

Katie -- thanks so much! The original idea is all sj's magic... but once we started talking it, um, morphed a bit. :) I look forward to seeing what you think of each chapters as the boys work to unravel the mystery.

Weird. I could totally hear both of you in the writing and, while you mesh together beautifully, it was also neat the way that happened. Awesome start ladies, awesome start...and I'm assuming there will be a sin for each day of the week until we get to Bloody Sunday? I love that title by the way. I can't wait to see how this all unfolds...I'm sure you ladies have a great adventure planned.

And, how creepy is it that you had this idea BEFORE knowing about the premiere? Gives me the shivers, lol.

Author's Response:

Yeah -- that kinda creeped us out, too. :) But I think I can safely say that Kripke has nothing to worry about. Though the premise may be similar, the devil's in the details, so to speak.

I like that you could hear both of us yet flowed with the mesh of it all. Thanks for saying that! We're so glad to see you here and hope that you continue to enjoy.

Wow - not one but two great authors.... Gaelic - do you sleep?

This is just so rich in every way. The boys are, of course, perfect. I can see and hear them deliver each line and gesture. Their individual torments are brought vividly to life - I love how much of the series you have woven in here - the deeper explorations of feelings and thoughts that can only be hinted at on the show. I hope that the series does as much justice to what Sam is going through as you do here - I'm a Deangirl through and through, but I can still see that sometimes Sam is not given the attention/ depth that he deserves - not so here.

I wish that I could comment on specific lines that really jumped out - but there are just too many. Would I be right in thinking that there will be seven chapters? One for each day of the week - until we reach Sunday?

Thank you both for a very rich and meaty first chapter - can't wait to see the rest.....

Author's Response:

*waves* Hi lam!

I sleep. Sometimes. Seriously, though, I know it looks like a lot has been posted at once, but Wolf and Man was nearly complete when we started posting, Linger was DONE when I posted it, and sj and I have been planning this story since February... it's outline, and we're just busy bringing it to life.

So, it's just a freaky timing thing. :) Besides, I learned when my daughter was born last July that mothers can exist on 3 hours of sleep a night for an extended period of time. I never knew that before! :)

Thanks so much for your review -- I love how detailed you get about how our writing affects you. I know sj is grinning as she reads this. :)

And you're nicely perceptive as well -- but there will actually be 8 chapters. Ha! *smiles quietly while lam scratches her head*

We're thrilled that you're enjoying this first installment and hope to see you back soon and often. :)

Wow, what a great start! You are taking us on a very interesting ride here. I was also thinking of the seven deadly sins and I am curious as to how this story will develop. I love the dialogue between the brothers. Dean's deal is becoming more and more of an issue as even the escaped demons from hell know about it already and tell him he's been eagerly awaited down there. By the way, I'm a huge U2 fan so the title caught my attention immediatly. Yes, the war has just begun... I look forward to the update! Looks like we have another team of great writers here! Thanks!

Author's Response:

Hooray! Another U2 fan!! :) SJ and I are like giggly schoolgirls about U2. Keep watching the chapter notes... I think you'll enjoy the lyrics there as the chapters are posted.

Thanks for the kudos on the dialogue -- it's one of the best things about the show (the gorgeousness of the boys not withstanding) and we worked to get it as spot on as we could. Or at least, as we hear them.

Writing this with sj has been a blast and we certainly hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

Fantastic start ladies! You've really driven home the point that things have changed, the stakes are higher...people just don't walk away from exorcisms. Also a great depiction of the tension between the boys in the wake of Dean's deal. The flashbacks of what happened immediately after Sam's death were incredibly vivid and heart wrenching.

So, what's the deal with this town? That bible passage has me thinking...we know that the third season opens with the seven deadly sins embodied as demons...but it sounds to me as if something in town is killing those that commit one of the sins...the opposite of pride is humility...being tied to or crushed under a rock naked is definitely humiliating...hmmm....what will Tuesday bring...

Author's Response:

I love that you speculate. Hee. I put this in Shiny's reply, but the fact that the premiere will be about the 7 deadly sins was a bit of a shock to us as we'd been plotting and scheming about this story since around February...

I don't know much more about the premiere -- in fact, your review just told me more than I knew! But unless there's some freaky Vulcan mind-melding going on, I think you'll see a big difference between this and the premiere -- and your speculations just make me smile.

You read for details and it's obvious that you enjoy trying to piece the parts together. I dig that! :)

Thanks for spending time with us -- it's been a blast to write with sj (she's amazing, isn't she?). We hope you enjoy how the story rolls out and that we see you back here often!
