Even though he denied it, Dean must have had these thoughts and fears as soon as the deal was made and Sam returned. Even Sam had not yet reached the moment of realization that he would never go back to the normal life he dreamed of. But Dean would also have known, in his heart of hearts, that there was no way out. Not without Sam dying too. He wasn't really hiding that from himself, as Sam would accuse him. He simply did what he had to to bury that knowledge and go on living for the time he had. He has always been the strongest Winchester, in my opinion. Thanks for the vignette.

Great chapter! I love how you express the uncertainty and anger in both boys! It's great that nothing important or earth-shattering happens. It's just too brothers sharing a moment.

That was just wonderful. They are in such a terrible situation, and you have really laid out the worst aspects of it here...without beating the reader over the head with it! I loved it that Sam just followed Dean until he pulled over, and the last line was terrific. Thanks for sharing!

The bit of humor of Sam chasing Dean in a stolen white Honda brings to mind him being chased by a killer rabbit with teeth like this.:)"whoops"

Awesome! In fact, awesome enough to forgive you for not updating something else -LOL!
Love the scene of Dean and Sam watching the sunrise. Totally agree that Dean will come to have mixed feelings - really he has mixed feelings right from the time he makes the deal - Jensen totally nailed that scene - and every other one in the epi...Not that he regrets saving Sam - but Hell? shudder....
I really hope that we see a scene or two like this come the new season... But we'll always have this - Thanks!!
