He drew in a deep breath and bolstered his courage. He could do this for Sam. And if it really ended up being a mental issue, well, then maybe they'd lock them in a room together. Because Dean didn't do anything half-assed, and Sam wasn't stupid. If he was going to start believing in his brother's world, he was going to have to live in it.

It was said so simply. Four little letters put together to wipe away year's worth of guilt so heavy he didn't think he could bear it. One little word slipped from his brother's lips eased the burden.

Dean didn't bother translating; he was fairly certain Sam didn't know what had come out of his mouth either.

Dean gasped as he adjusted the extra weight; this night was going to give him a hernia, he was sure of it.

"How will we know if it works?""If it works.""Nice."

these are just my favorites, because a 9000 words quote may be a bit too long... So, here it is, i'm gonna need another one. Like, now. Or this weekend eventually. Please? Common... Yes, i am whining and begging, cause you know, i love this story...

The knife in Dean's stomach twisted further and swallowing became painful. His little brother had literally just turned his back on him. He either didn't want him anymore or didn't need him anymore, and frankly both were just as painful. It hurt and Dean hated hurting. It stewed and culminated into something else, something he could manage... anger. It welled within him, and he felt his own walls building up as he sat there staring at his brother's back.

He sniffed and gave a small nod. "Fine," he said stonily. He got up, exited the room and never returned as the same brother he'd been when he'd entered. Neither of them did.

This story is outstanding! Great paragraph, great memory. And now they think he tried to kill himself, crap...

ow, didn't think he would spill it to Mary and John, even more curious now...

"Look man, I don't know what you're dealin with." He licked his lips, searching the room. "But dude... whatever it is." He turned his hazel eyes to Sam. "You don't have to fucking go through it alone, alright?" Crap Sammy, you should have taken this opportunity... So glad you decided to post here, hope it's the first of many! I read this fantastic fic awhile ago with the intention of reviewing at the end. I was SOOO excited to see your update that I decided to reread and review as I go.

Wonderful intro. Great to see Dean 'normal' in the family he has mourned all his life.  His love and respect for his mother shone, and it tugged at my heart to see him happy here.

So, Sam is secretive and having trouble at school. You wrote his discomfort at having his school record and reputation tarnished very well. Already I'm feeling uneasy...

"Goth" books and Dean knows about them. hmmm...Loved the "he's a freakin vampire' comment. Dean's affection for his little brother is very obvious, not sure about Sam yet. He's so moody, broody and touchy, almost snarly.

You've got my attention! Great start! Looking forward to the ride.

PS Lucky you on meeting Jared and attending Chicago Con. I think I read your postings on one of the other forums, maybe saw some photos.  *jealous over here* Glad you had fun!!

awww, wow! I love how Dean finally believed Sam, and how they are now the Sam and Dean we all know and love! Great update....Really good. I love the male bonding between the brothers.
