Awesome ending sis.  Just loved how Dean got Cass, Bobby and Rufus to help him scare the sh*t out of those hunters who had tried to set up the Winchesters and hurt Sam.  Don't think they will be coming after the Winchesters again!

Great little talk between Dean and Sam, sometimes they just need to communicate!

Fantastic ending and great lead into Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid episode.

Hope you are soon 100% well sis and make sure you take things easy.

Author's Response:

Hi, sis,

Yep, getting there slowly. Flu is gone, just really tired now.

I sort of figured it would be a nice touch to call in the troops on the payback - not just for the fact that Dean really couldn't cover all that ground on his own, but also to give the hunters a message that the Winchesters aren't alone, and won't be easy targets.

And yeah, they really do need to talk, don't they? LOL.

Thanks for all your help on this one. It's been a while since we've sunk our teeth into a multi-chapter story, hasn't it?

"I just sent ‘em to Dean Winchester. He's gonna be real pleased to know that you're so close to where he's at right now. Especially after he found out about that little visit you and your buddy Tim paid to his brother."

xxxxxxx

You know what they say abuot payback! So great Cas, Bobby, and Dean all had a say!

Awesome story.

Hope you are feeling much better.

Thank you so, so much for all your time and effort and hard work. To you and to Chris and To Zig! You guys always deliver with a punch! That's a good thing!

This was so much fun! And one I will read over and over again for a long time to come!

Hugs to all!

Karen

Author's Response:

Hi, Karen,

Yep, payback's a bitch - LOL. I couldn't resist calling in the troops to give Dean a hand with said payback, knowing he couldn't cover all that distance in one night and still get back to Sam before he woke up and needed some more painkillers.

Thank you for reading. We're thrilled to have given you a fun ride.

hugs

What a great story! It's been a long time between drinks but worth the wait!

Kim

Author's Response:

Hi, Kim,

It has been a dry argument, hasn't it? The muse still isn't quite co-operating, but I'm picking away slowly.

Good to have you along for the ride, and chuffed that you enjoyed it. It's been some time since I've had a multi-chapter fic. I enjoyed the challenge of the longer story, I have to admit.

I so wanted that on the show!

Thank you for filling in the blanks....Sam telling Dean about the demon blood.

 Such fantastic storytelling!

Adored the scene in the parking garage best of all....

Thank you for this lovely piece of joy!

Karen

Author's Response:

Hi, Karen,

Yeah, I was waiting for that, too, but it didn't happen on-screen. Don't know if Sam told Dean "off-screen" or not, but it was a loose thread in my mind that needed snipping off, as it were.

So thrilled you loved the little confrontation between escaping Sam and determined Dean - lol. Poor Sammy, he just couldn't catch a break, could he? But at least big brother's got him now, and has put his mind at rest on a few things.

So hope things are better for you!

 Yahoo! You are back.

 Awesome chapter.

Nice twist.

Sam missing from his sick bed.

Whaaaa!

I have no clue...and can't wait to find out.

So much fun! Love your Sammy Whampage!

Hope to catch up with the next chapter soon.

Thank you so much for all your hard work in keeping us fans happy!

Karen

Author's Response:

They are getting there, Karen, thanks for that. Over the flu finally, just have the residual soreness and tiredness now.

Yep, Sam's done a runner....or something's done a runner with Sammy! Glad you're still on for the ride, hun.

Haha, yes you are good not leaving us with an evil cliffie this week but Dean is not going to take what Sam told him lying down ... be afraid Tim, Reggie, and Dancer for giving them dodgy intel, be very afraid!

Trust Sam to get half of the conversation in his medicated and injured state and book and it's a good job Dean knew exactly what his little brother would do and was waiting in the car park as there is no way Sam was in any fit state to steal a car!  And had to laugh that his puppy dog eyes worked on the doc and he let him sign out AMA!

Now Dean has the full story of what happened in Garber he is not going to let things lie and I sense there might be some retribution to come ... you treat Sammy bad and you've treated Dean bad too!

Awesome chapter again sis :)

Sarah

Author's Response:

Hey, sis. Yep, dodgy hunters beware! Now that Dean finally has all the pieces, you know he just won't leave it at that and move on, not without doing something about Sam's little problem.

Hmm, yes, I have treated Sammy quite badly in this story. I'll make it up to him in the next one, I promise.

Then again, maybe not....*evil grin*

Great chapter.  Poor Sam.  I love how you write the brothers.

Author's Response:

Thanks for that, Sylvia. I'm glad I'm hitting the marks for you.

Yes, poor Sammy, I've had him beaten terribly in this story. Limp Sam abounds - lol. Might have to go a bit easier on him in the next one, eh?

Oh it so good to find one of your wonderful long stories. I have missed you so much. You are so wonderful. I hope all is good in your life. I have been very busy of late so have not been able to check for your stories as often as I would like. But I am currently on holiday and thought I would just take a chance and there you were!! This is so good. Sweet and full of angst and mystery. I love how you write Dean and Sam. True to themselves on the show but more complete because we can have the story behind their words and their shared looks. Oh and to answer one of your questions, I am loving season 8. I go to Southern California every winter for a few weeks and have taken a side trip to be at Vegas to go to the Convention. My enthusiasm for the show, and the stories arising has not faded.       ~ Jo

Author's Response:

JO!!!!! OH MY GOSH!!!

It's been so long - how have you been???

Oh, so thrilled you're going to the Vegas Con. You'll have such a great time, hun.

I know what you mean about being busy. Real life has not been kind to me of late either, and I've not written nearly as much as I'd like. The muse went into hiding for a long time, but she's venturing out again, so let's hope she stays with me for a while.

So glad you're enjoying this. And season eight. I wanted to belt Dean over the back of the head during the first few episodes, but I'm loving the brother interaction now. And Dean's back in my good books - LOL. Did you see his little prayer at the end of the Titan episode? Oh, I almost burst into tears!

Well, I'm off to post chapter six and see if Dean can find his missing and very injured brother! Enjoy your holiday, hun, and bless you heaps!

Oh Lord, what have you done now?  You're killing us!  Friday is too far away.

Author's Response:

What have I done? Well, let's see.....*ticks off on fingers*

I've made Sam fall off a bridge, almost get flattened by a falling rock, had him shot, rained on, chewed on, operated on, and now Daphne'd...perhaps. I've also had Dean clonked over the head by a tree branch, sent him for a hair-raising ride in a helicopter and caused him to faint - er, pass out in a manly fashion. Hmm, what else can I do....*taps finger against chin*

Oh, I know! Post chapter six!!

Lol.

So glad you are enjoying this.

OMG just loved this chapter.  Big brother Dean saves the day and incinerates the fugly but Sam is, well, near death.  His ramblings about 'Keith' is a hint of what is to come.  Just let him get well enough to tell Dean all about it!   Exhilirating writing.

Author's Response:

Hey, Rozzy!

Ah, yes, those ramblings about "Keith" are indeed hints - you are right on the button. Things will get interesting, to say the least.

Glad you're still holding on for the ride!

Gah girl you are putting me a heart attack in the making here.  You finally get something good going for the boys with a medivac and Dean surviving the terror of a helicopter ride.  Okay you then have his concussed ass tip over on arrival at the hospital, as in passing out, but at least things seemed to be going well on his waking with Sam getting through surgery.  But then when I thought the story was drawing to a brotherly enduced lovely ending you go and twist this chapter with a seriously heart thumping cliffy.  Just WTF has happened to Sammy and just what is this going to do to Dean?   Evil writing which was delicious in the devouring so my thanks! Roz

Author's Response:

*chuckles evilly*

I know, I'm just bad that way.....my imagination's a freaky place at the best of times. Especially when I have such lovely boys to bash up - figuratively speaking, of course! I've met Jensen and Jared briefly at a Con, and could never conceive of bashing them....let along being able to reach that high.....they're way too pretty and gentlemanly.

And no, brotherly moment is not happening just yet - ha-ha-ha! Not when there's more angst to plow through!

But I have a little balm for your failing heart - I do have a bro-mo planned, and I haven't ended chapter six on an evil cliffie.

Aren't I being good?

LOL

Great chapter again sis ... and OMG you have left us with another cliffy - Sam disappearing from his hospital bed!!!  At least it seems like he might have left a note though but what prompted him to book?

Thank goodness Dean managed to get mobile reception and could call 911 as there was no way he could get Sam out of there, and thank goodness too they hadn't used all the flares as Dean needed a couple to alert the helicopter pilot and paramedics as to their exact location.

LOL you put Dean through it this chapter too, having him have to travel in the helicopter but there was no way he was leaving Sam and no way the paramedics were leaving Dean there either as he was just about running on empty and injured too!

And it looks like Dean has been putting two and two together and is getting four with Sam's incoherent ramblings and once he has the whole picture I wouldn't like to be in Reggie or Tim's shoes, or Dancer's for that matter as he definitely gave them dodgy intel on this hunt!

Holding tight to me seat for next weeks instalment!

Sarah

Author's Response:

Hey, sis!

Yep, another juicy cliffhanger. *chortles*

Hmm, yes, I did put Dean through a bit, didn't I? Nothing like sharing the bashing around. And you are right, Dean's very rapidly putting two and two together...let's see what  he does with his newfound knowledge....once he finds Sam....if he finds Sam.....

loving this as I do all your fics.  Cannot wait for next chapter.   Thanks so much for sharing

Author's Response:

Thank you so much. I'm very glad to have you along. Hit a speed bump last week and didn't post, but I'm back with chapter five....much to DolphinDreamer's relief - LOL.

Hope you enjoy the rest of the fic - three chapters to go including this one about to be posted. I'm not done with Sammy-bashing yet - lol.

Oops......sorry....*puppy eyes*

Real life threw me a few curves over the last week and a bit, but I'm back, and chapter five is about to go up.

*ramps up puppy eyes*

Forgive me?

Oh God, it was eating Sam. How horrible.  So glad Dean got there in time.  Can't wait for more.

Author's Response:

Mmm, yep, and that's why I said don't eat anything while reading.....but it didn't eat much before Dean blew it away, thankfully.

Although I can't imagine Sam being very happy about that at the moment - lol.

Thanks, Sylvia. Hope you enjoy chapter five, which is being posted very soon.

Whaaaaaaaaaaa!

You are evil! But I love it and you!

Such an adventure. Dean has his hands full...going to take a lot of doing to get Sam to help.

Awesome story!

Waves back!

Karen

Author's Response:

I am evil. And I enjoy it. And what makes it more fun with a fic like this is that my wonderful beta is a Sam-girl....*grins wickedly*...you can imagine Sarah's response to all these evil cliffies, since she gets them a chapter at a time and I don't give my plot away unless I'm stuck on something!

And yep, you're right, my friend - Dean's going to have his hands very full indeed, trying to get a badly-damaged Sam out of the woods. Especially as I don't think either of them are fit to tackle that bridge again....

Dun-dun-dunnnnnnnnnnnn!

Jules

Reviewer: ziggy (Signed) · Date: 15/02/13 06:47 AM · On: Chapter 4

OMG what an evil cliffy!  And if you hadn't injured Sam enough already you almost tore him to pieces courtesy of the Jenu in this chapter!  No wonder Dean wants to book out of that cavern and get his little brother to the ER like yesterday!

Thank goodness Dean managed to track down his little brother, despite not being in great form himself, and save him from becoming Jenu chow ... and he certainly got there in the nick of time and fired that flare at the fugly as Sam was at its mercy!

And in the brief moment on consciousness Sam had he was not aware it was Dean tending to him!

Awesome chapter sis, just hope Dean can get Sam to the ER in time!

Sarah

Author's Response:

I like evil cliffies. And I've sprinkled them through this fic like confetti! Well, sort of....seriously though, I've tried to limit myself to one per chapter, sis. And I've put them at the end of each chapter for convenience.....no, really.....*grins*

Hmm, yes, I am rather putting Sam through the wringer. Nothing personal - you know I love Sammy. But he's so pretty when he's hurt.

And no, you're right - in that moment, Sam had no idea it was Dean trying to feed him water - Sam's mind was giving him quite another picture altogether. Something that happened in his recent past......

Present? What present? Did I promise you a present? I don't seem to recall......

Absolutely love this recent chapter! This creature is totaly scary! I can't wait to see what happens next!

Thanks again!
Vikki

Author's Response:

Hi, Vikki,

Yep, the Jenu's a worthy foe for our boys, that's for sure. Not as tricky as a demon, but on its home turf it's formidable.

Let's see how the boys go up against it, especially Sam, who's now alone in the cave.....

Thanks so much for reading.

“You – you got shot, man.”

“S-since when – fuglies have guns?”

“It was...uh...friendly fire,” Dean admitted, feeling the heat of embarrassment on his face as he shrugged back into his wet garments.

Sam stared at him in confusion.

“I shot you.”

“Wha’ for?”

“I was tryin’ to shoot the fugly.”

“Y’ missed.”

“I can see that, asshat!”

xxxxxxxx

Adore that brotherly exchage!

This story is spectacular! One of my all time favorite things to read -- the boys in the wilderness...and fighting for their lives...exciting!

Thank you so much for all your hard work on this!

Karen

Author's Response:

I've thrown everythng at this fic, Karen. Wilderness, storm, smart monster, wounded boys, darkness....have I left anything out? If I have, it's probably coming up in a future chapter - lol.

So thrilled that you're enjoying it, my friend.

Jules

Reviewer: rozzy (Signed) · Date: 10/02/13 08:30 AM · On: Chapter 3

Trust Sam even all busted up and a  bullet wound to his side to still know what type of monster they were facing.  I would have said 'hunting' but that scary smart Jenu seems to to have claimed that role.  And now you've gone knocked out our Dean to an unknown fate and Sammy is left facing off again one heck of fugly foe, barely able to lift the flare-gun never mind fire it!!! Girl you are killing me here - update soon please....

Author's Response:

Hi, Rozzy,

Yes, they're just as much hunted as hunters this time. The Jenu's definitely stalking them, and it seems to be getting the upper hand. At least though now they know what they are facing. Small consolation, but...any port in a storm, right?

And yep, Sam's about to become a McHappy Meal....update coming up very shortly!

Jules

Curse the Winchesters luck - cos when things go pearshaped they go mega pearshaped.  Now you have managed to doublewhammy our Sammy here and by his brother's hand no less.  Love how twisted your imagination is allowed to run riot with our boys!!

Author's Response:

Oh, I have indeed. And they're going to keep going pear-shaped - lol. I'm not finished yet, not by a long shot.

Poor Dean's going to have to some serious sucking up for shooting his bro...once they get away from the monster, that is. Unless they get eaten.....

*grins evilly*

Jules

Reviewer: ziggy (Signed) · Date: 09/02/13 08:59 AM · On: Chapter 3

Good grief sis, you are putting our boys through it!  Gotta give Sam credit though, even with a bullet wound and in great pain he managed to name the fugly that was playing cat and mouse with them, and realise that fire and flares were the way to go.  Typical Winchester luck though that Dean's flare shot missed but at least the Jenu fled, giving them some well needed time and space.  At least Dean managed to drag Sam to the hill and find a cave to hole up in, and he managed to patch Sam up somewhat, but without antibiotics infection is bound to set in and now Sam is starting a fever.

Oh dear, the Jenu has now outwitted the boys again, getting Dean to follow him, luring him away from Sam and the cave, and heading straight into the Jenu's little trap .... leaving the way open for the fugly to go for the younger Winchester!  Just hope that Sam will be able to wield that flare gun and hit his target otherwise he is a sitting duck!

Loved the drama in this chapter ... and patiently waiting until next Friday!

Sarah

Author's Response:

I am indeed. Threw everything but the kitchen sink at this one. Next fic might have to be a bit of a holiday to make up for it - lol.

And yep, they're facing a rather clever foe this time. All the cunning of a wendigo but with a lot more hair.

Hmm, what can I throw at Sam this week...

Ju

Reviewer: ritsam (Signed) · Date: 08/02/13 09:10 PM · On: Chapter 3

Nooooo you can't just leave there, bad bad cliffie. Aww no, fugly's gonna eat Sammy now!?!? Now I have no clue what's gonna happen next and you won't post before friday... *sigh* my luck!!! Awesome story, so glad to have you back :-)

huggggsss

Author's Response:

Now me, I thought it was a great cliffie - ROFL! Nice, meaty...or am I getting confused with the Jenu's next meal? *laughs evilly*

Poor Sammy's monster-chow, looks like. Well, at least he'll be a long meal, not a quick snack!

Hee-hee!

Man, Dean is just not on his game, is he?  Poor guy just can't catch a break.  Love how he's got those survivalist skills, though.  And now Sam's on his own.  Can't wait till next week!

Author's Response:

No, he isn't. Everything's going tits up on him on this hunt. And the Jenu's gotten the better of him, for the time being....but it's dropped Sam into more hot water, that's for sure.

Ah, me, I do love bashing the boys - LOL.

Thanks so much for reading, Sylvia.
