Yum!  Your description of the cherry pie made me hungry for it (and I don't even like cherries).  As always, the words you chose perfectly expressed Dean's mood and I immediately felt empathy for the poor hunter.  And Marie's down-home sweetness endeared me to her right away.  I"m always amazed at how easily put me in the heads of your characters.  Keep writing!  I'm a fan for life!
