I really enjoy this. You captured Dean's voice and his frustration. His need to tell someone...and while there is no one alive, of all his dead family and friends, he chooses his father. Why, because he thinks he can help but also because he think the man should have told him more...about sammy, adam. angels, the campbells...but he does love him and looks up to him. Still wants to please him. I get this all from your writing. Unique idea with lots of feeling. Keep going!
Author's Response: I just saw this review now, so I apologize for being so late to answer (RL has been a beast lately!) I'm so glad you enjoyed this. I think Dean really needs someone to talk to, especially with some of the things he can't talk to Sam about, and he never had anyone else to turn to except his dad. And he still has a lot he wants his dad to know--his worry, frustration, anger and pride over everything that's happened in the past few years. Gulp, that last call really was tragic in a way. Dean's self esteem, self loathing really came out in that call. I'm sure if Dean had to kill Sammy, he kill himself next. Yikes! I'm really loving these calls Dean is making it to his father and the progression Dean makes in the "relationship" with his father really shows in the calls. Looking forward to more!

I think Dean's relationship with his dad changed (up and down and all over again) during the series, but he still felt the need to talk to him in times of stress. (I'd guess probably joy, too, except there's been very very little of that, especially lately!) Hope you like the rest of the story!

Wow, the last two talks were really sad. Dean's view of Christmas and Sam's are miles apart, Dean is trying to convince himself that the holidays were good. And the last one, god, you can really feel how frighten Dean is about going to hell.

I really enjoy these "phone calls" or Dean's conversations with John. I believe he had these kind of conversations with John even after John's death like he did in the Dijnn world. I look forward to reading more.

Hi there, yes do keep posting readers are less at present but we are out there lurking in the background. More reviewers would be good too for everyone (for other folk reading this), that's what I find anyway, back to 'Hey, Dad'... I really enjoyed reading this as a reminder of various stages they've been through, and I did get every episode so well done. Yes I can see that Dean would keep in touch with John, even after his death. It would be interesting to see what else Dean needs to say to John further down the line. Nice one Jacq

I used to post on DeanDamage (there are a few stories there that aren't here) but they seem to be mostly defunct now, and the one time I tried to set up an account on ff.net I got some nasty malware that scared me off. *sigh* I do have a backlog of stories (and quite a few half-finished ones) that I should do something with.
