Yes, definitely had a Season 1 feel to it, a simple vengeful spirit and poor Sam getting skewered! I loved the Jackelope, and a little brotherly comfort and angst all added to it. Nice one.

So glad you liked the story and reviewed all of it. I do tend to set my hunt stories in the early Seasons, especially 1 & 2. They're still my favorite seasons, and I feel like I've got my best grasp of the characters in these seasons. 

Jackelopes are hard to resist, aren't they? Honestly, the first time I saw a postcard of one, naive Midwesterner that I was, I thought it was real...for about 5 seconds. It was really fun finding a way to use the jackelope in my story!

Still curious, so I will eagerly await the next chapter.  Greg obviously needed a gun for something. I am really seeing the scenery too. Nice one so far.

Hi Jacq,

Thanks for continuing to read and review. Glad the scenery's coming across for you - Wyoming has some truly awesome landscapes and I tried to do them justice with my description; convey a "you are there" feel to the story.  The next chapter should be up shortly.
