I enjoyed reading this and look forward to an update on Die Another Day as well as more stories from this crossover.  I don't mind you defending John.  Someone once said that parenthood isn't for whimps and we could have a huge debate over the rights and wrongs.  I perfer to think that he did the best that he knew how and leave it at that.

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing. Funny you should mention Die Another Day, I just got chapter 4 back from my Beta and hope to post it either tomorrow or the next day depending on how many errors I have to fix. :)

Ah, John. He was a complicated man who had to try and raise his sons in a situation no one could have imagined or prepared for. I agree. He did the best he could on his own, accepted help occasionally from Bobby or Pastor Jim, screwed up sometimes but through trial, error and a lot of love somehow managed to shape Sam and Dean into the men they are today.

I love the thought that John might have made that call! and I TOTALLY agree that between the fandom and the writers- John has been so villified... Without a doubt- he loved his boys- no way otherwise- he sacrificed his soul for Dean or responded to Sam the way he did- heck- the fact that he did save Dean in and of itself shows that he KNEW Dean would take care of Sam and shows how much he cared about them... but far too many fics, etc... make him out to be an abusive bastard. Was he perfect- no- but how many of us are? The road to hell is paved with good intentions... and John Winchester was no exception...

Nicely done!!! Great read!

Thanks so much for saying you enjoyed it!

Yes, I've read far too many fics where John was portrayed as an abusive SOB (or rather, I've started reading them. Once I realize where the author is going I get turned off) and I really wanted to show another view of him, as well as going into his relationship with Bobby a bit. It seems like many writers (both fans and the official writing staff) feel the need to put John down in order to lift Bobby up as a father figure. But it doesn't need to be that way.
