Truth is... I didn't know how to actually kill Dean, except that it would be a hunt gone terribly wrong... either that or some freak accident.

WOW, i know it was a death fic (thanks for the warning!) but in the first paragraph! I could hardly breathe! I liked how you had Sam take on some of Deans characteristics in his grief - obvious choices Sam made to keep Dean near like the amulet and the music, But the subtle ones...your choice of his words "why don't you let go of my shoulder and I won't break your nose" calling the barmaid "sweetheart"  and "surely it's the threat that matters and not the name" - Dean snark coming outta Sam's mouth. Brilliant writing, you really made Sam's grief the whole point.

I also saw Dean manifested in Sam's thoughts - "silently wondering if he didn't plan this when he walked into the bar" - you had our gentle Sam morph into Dean's need for danger to deal with his emotions like grief and anger.

the idea of Dean as a reaper is spectacular - creative as a writer coz it's new to fic thinking but SO fitting of Dean - he's really not an angel or the ghost type, I think you got this true to Dean's character. So glad that Dean is gunna prevent Sam on this suicide mission of self destruction his grief launched him into.

Oh, and "haunting your a$$ if you wreck the impala" well Dean did warn him...

Awesome but tragic little oneshot.

Heya Cookie!! Thank you so much for reading :) I never thought I'd write a Death fic... and I'm bad 'cause I never read them (they make me so upset). I'm glad you liked how Sam took on some of his characteristics, it felt right and I guess it was my way of keeping Dean in the story even without a phsyical body, he he. The bar scene was good to write, I liked it and pictured it in my mind quite well so it came out kinda easy :) Yey.

As for Dean being a reaper... he he, in one of my other stories there was the possibility of throwing something like that in but it didn't work out so I decided that I really really did wanna turn him into one though - and then came this one shot. 

And yeah - Dean totally warned him! Sam deserves to be haunted if he wrecks the Impala!!!

I thought maybe Dean would be Sam's guardian angel, but a reaper is cooler!  Excellent story!

What's really funny is that many people thought along the same lines... but I dunno... maybe I'm twisted and dark!Dean kinda has a special place in my heart with his own en suite and satellite dish...

Dean looking out for Sam and protecting him even in death... It's so sweet and definitely something Dean'd at least try to do! 

I'm not a big fan of death fics but I really like this one! The whole idea of Dean becoming a reaper's cool and together with your writing skills it works so well I just have to like it! :)

But even though I like your story very much, I wouldn't like it if the other died in the real show. I think it'd be too cruel to separate the brothers!

I'm not really a big fan of death fics myself... so I have no idea why I went and wrote one. I guess after writing one of my longer stories I just really wanted to make Dean a reaper but couldn't find a place for it in anything but a one shot.

And I'm the same... I'd hate for one of the guys to really die on the show because it's Sam and Dean forever... can't have one without the other.
