Perfection!

If I said any more it would only detract from your words.

Thank you!

Author's Response: Thanks BJ!  I appreciate that! And thank you for the stars!

Very touching!  I loved all the emotion and thoughts.  It's exactly what I would expect Dean to think and how I can see him reacting.

I especially like that Dean remembers times when Bobby took John's place and acted as a father to them.

Not when... Not when I need him.  That pierced right through me.  Dean always turns to Bobby when he can't talk to Sam.  In that respect he really is alone now.

I'm glad that in the end Dean was able to see Sam as his reason to go on.  And glad that finally Dean let Sam return the favor and take care of him.  Now that Sam has become more of an equal to Dean and not so much a little brother, he'll be able to care for Dean the way Dean has always cared for him.  And for Dean that's huge.  Dean deserves to have someone who can take care of him and help him shoulder his burdens.  Now if only he'll let Sam do it.  At least here he did.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely review!  Yes, I wish Dean would let Sam be there for him but I don't know if he can ever do it.  He's so used to being the one to take care of others, he won't let others take care of him but he really needs someone right now. :'(

Wow, just wow.  Tears in my eyes what an amazing point of view and what a great reason...  Thank you for sharing.

Author's Response: Thank you so much!  I agree that it's a great reason.  I just think with everything they've been through, Dean loses sight of that every now and again.  I can totally relate.  Thanks again!!  :)

Superb! So sorry for Dean but this is exactly what he needs to do---Sam, too! I agree...don't think the show's writers would have the guts to write something like this...but we can hope they may come close!

Author's Response: Thank you!  I agree that I think this would help them both so much.  Never discount the therapeutic qualities of a good old cry!  I don't know how they keep going without letting go every once in awhile.  I'm very curious to see where the show goes with this whole storyline.  Thanks again!!

Holy shit, what I wouldn't give to see a scene like this on the show! Alas, I don't think the writers on the show will be able to write such a heartbreaking scene if their lives depended on it. This is one of the best one shots I've ever read! Just awesome!

Author's Response: Thank you for such an awesome review!  No, I don't think we'll ever see anything like this on the show just because they like to keep our boys so stoic but everyone has a breaking point and I don't know how they haven't reached theirs already. Thanks again!  Your review made me smile. :)

Dang! Now I'm getting all teary!  I guess I've gotten so used to Dean and his emotional brick wall he has constructed over the years, that even as I read this ......I felt resistant to Dean letting go and accepting Sam's comforting arms. I'm glad he did in the end:*)

Glad your muse returned!

Author's Response:

Ooh pretty stars!  Thanks Terri!  I wasn't even sure if you still read fanfiction. :)  I think a lot of people have quit or they've just quit reviewing.

I doubt we'll ever see anything like this on the show but even though Dean has built this brick wall, those can still come tumbling down.  Honestly, I don't see how either one of those boys are still walking upright.

Thanks again!!

I just noticed the little comment you made in the AN about Bobby being Dean's rock... Not sure you meant to make the tie between him as a rock and Dean's speech to Sam about him being real and building on it as STONE #1.... But it was the first thing that struck me... Not that I don't think that the brothers aren't number one for each other... But I definitely think that Bobby is/was that stone #1 constant in Dean's life.... The one constant he could always count on.
What will he do now? Which is what makes your story that much more poignant! It's that heartbreaking desperation that just pours off the page.... And even though at the end Sam is there and we get the sense that Dean is clinging to him... There is still that void that just is NOT the same.
As I said... You still have me choked up on this one.
Well done... And and tell that muse she most definitely kicked it in the ass this time!!!!

I got a pretty ribbon?!?  I'm so excited!

I didn't consciously make the tie but I guess it was kinda in the back of my mind because Bobby is the one thing that he could always depend on.  Even when he couldn't depend on Sam (like in S4) he knew Bobby was there.  I just don't see how he's going to be able to cope if Bobby is truly gone (as I think he is).

Thanks Tree!  This just totally made my day!
