This was such a sweet piece. It's like we're peeking in the window at a relatively normal family. I love your Dark Horse series because it portrays John as a loving father. As we know, he made a lot of poor choices but he had to have done some things right. I know people who've lost parents and they all mourn the loss of their remembering the face or laugh as much as the loss of the person. I like that you mentioned even at such a young age that Sam had his own mind and didn't like to do what his dad wanted him to do.
Author's Response: i ger very discouraged when I see people portray John in a negative light. He had faults, yes, but he would willingly die for his sons. If that isn't love, than I don't know what is. I am glad that you enjoyed the story and the series. :)

Nice story. I like John - Dean stories, so it was a pleasure to read. It's good to seeing a loving John towards his sons, especially after the show has trashed him so much.
Author's Response: I am so glad that you disagree with the way that the show has trashed his character. He was a loving father who was put into extreme situations. He may have been a little strict, certainly wouldn't win father of the year, but John loved his sons. He would never hurt them physically or emotionally. He raised them the best he knew how. Honestly, when the show started to trash his character more and more, I stopped watching. Only now am I getting back into the show because I missed it so much. Sorry for the little rant, but I get excited when someone appreciates John's character and dislikes the show's bashing of him. Thanks for the review.

very poignant, I'm glad you showed a softer, more approachable John. I believe he dearly loves his kids but is stuck in a desperate situation. Thanks for sharing. Bird x
Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed the story. I'm so happy you like my John. This is how I always pictured him. Thanks for the review.
