Oh lord. Rats are like... ~to quote the Ghostfacers~ the rats of the world. And bein' surrounded by them is... yucky. I don't mind them myself... if they stay where they are... Poor Dean's not as lucky it would seem.

John showing up stop Sam struggling to either go for help or stay with Dean. But that hunt what gone wrong didn't stop Sam to go and Dean to be hurted by Sam leaving. I loved preseries as well Tree. I enjoyed this story start to end. I wish you a very Happy New Year.

What a sad ending to an awesome story. I'm a sucker for happy endings, so this ending was tough to read. But then again, I should have chosen another fandom to get happy endings, I guess. Thank you for sharing your story and the regular updates! Look forward to read your new story!

I cried again! That ending just kills me because I can soooo relate to what Dean is feeling. I always tell everyone Jennifer is the Sam to my Dean and I know how hard it is to let go when you just want them to stay! Great job, Tree! Very satisfying tale, well told. The awful tragedy of Sam's very reasonable desires for a life outside of hunting clashing with Dean's understandable fears of losing Sam has always fascinated. Such an impossible situation and your tale expresses that heartache eloquently. Please write more mutli-chapters, particularly pre-series. It has huge potential for the angst and reckless behaviour you write so well. Cheers.

I found time to finish reading your story. I kept wondering how Sam was going to get Dean out of the hole or even just leave him long enough to find help. You had some tense moments as Dean's condition got worse. I'm glad that John arrived in time to help his boys. It was nice that you had Dean see Sam off at the bus station, no angry words, just a goodbye. We all know the brothers reunite a in few years, but it is rough knowing that Sam cuts off his family for a while. You did a great job with the emotional aspects of conversatons between the brothers, though now I'm as depressed as Dean. Thanks for sharing a story with us. Until next time, take care.

He's definately worse for the wear with his family torn apart. I think they all did considering the hands they were dealt and how in retrospect- they were pushed... I'm not a huge fan of rampant John-bashing... and I think when the chips were down, he never wanted to see his boys hurt. Anyway- so glad you liked it and thanks so much for the faithful reviews. I love the way you ended this. Very cool how you brought it into the start of the show. I think you really captured the true heart-break of the moment, and the whole story line with "Only the soft sound of breathing, that of one's failing respirations and another's heartbroken sobs, broke the stillness." first of all I forgive you for being late if you forgive me for forgetting to leave a review for the last chapter. I blame Santa! this was a heartbreakingly brilliant chapter. You can't leave Dean in so much pain over the holidays (or me, I also have in-laws , so I'm already in pain!) I just love your writing and the way you get inside Dean's head. I'd love to see you do something with season 7's Dean.Can't wait for the next chapter, have a great christmas.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the chapter- its one of my favorites of the story as well. I love the tension and desperation. Even though I'm a die-hard DeanGirl - I just love how frantic Sam feels here- I love that he hates hunting all the more because of the toll it takes on Dean and how in Dean's poor scrambled head- he combines Sam's hate of hunting for hating him. I'll do my best to not leave you hanging long- we'll see if the in-laws and my souless mother cooperate this weekend! LOL As for a storyline in S7 - there is something brewing in my head that is post- Death's Door - that is nothing but an Angst-fest.
