Work ten hours a day, hour and a half travel time, all those animals.....hmm, if you get a flat tyre on the way home, don't take a shortcut through the park.....

Awww...Vader took to Sammy - and to Bobby - lol. Loved Dean's line about puppy eyes and Sam falling for Vader's sad brown eyes.

Weird that the glitter residue is only visible in water - some sort of water creature?

Ten more minutes of lunch...can I sneak in another chappy?

Jules

Author's Response: This isn't a very long story, and it gets kinda wierd.... I went for a bit of humour!

Love the start, and that very atmosphere-setting description. Puts you right there in the darkness with that horrible chill creeping down your spine.

Poor Vadar....

And we're off on another one! This one's got a pretty blue ribbon on it - very spech. Oh - don't worry when the ribbon fades to red - it just means it's been taken off the current featured stories list. Doesn't mean it ever loses its featured status...unless you edit it, then you need to let me or Tree know so we can put your pretty ribbon back on.

Right - onto the next chapter.

Jules

Author's Response: i love my ribbon! This was my second ever story written, but published here AFTER harvester. I am flattered to find you here!!!

So Dean really was dying.  Eeeeks!  I'm glad that Dean is back to his hard-ass self but it's so nice to have a little helpless vulnerable Dean, too.

Thank you for sharing this fantastic story with us!  If you couldn't tell I loved every bit of it.  Now I'll have to check out more of your work.

Author's Response:

I have just found your reviews, wow, you took my breath away!  This was my second story, Dogs Of War was the first.  Thank you, thank you, so very much.

I read through the reviews so fast, barley catching my breath, you made me a little story all of my own!

Again, thank you so much.  I look forward to more reviews from you!!!

(PS...I'm an old bag, I know the night stalker!)

Yahoo!  How great that Urass and Amross kept their courage even though they were scared.

And this was the perfect spot for a little bit of mush.

Ironic that Sam told Dean he'd come for him.  the same words that Bagool used before claiming a victim and then later using them on the orc himself.  Of course, adding the Winchester panache to it.

Again with the creepy.  Even knowing what the monster is I still got a shiver up my neck.

I'm enjoying this story so much I almost don't want it to end.

Yay!  Urass is a good guy!  You had me very worried.

I got a bit confused at first because I read chapter 9 before 8.  But I'm sqaured away now.

Ooooh!  The urchins are what are eating Dean?!  And I was just beginning to really like them.

I love that you put the book in.  What a clever way to get information to the masses without raising suspicions.

'But he was alone with them.  Alone in what he was, in who he was.  They tried, and they cared, but they could never really understand or be there.  Not like Sam.  Not ever like Sam.'  A very touching way to describe the unique brotherly bond between the Winchesters. That was so sad about Sam's soul.  but we knew it wasn't whole.  And what Sam said about his brother's soul  being the 'biggest damn soul that ever walked this Earth' is so true.  Don't you just love those boys?

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 27/02/12 05:15 PM · On: Chapter 6

Dean's soul very big indeed!  Have I told you that I love this story?  Can't write any more.  I'm off to the next chapter.

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 27/02/12 05:01 PM · On: Chapter 5

Oh my heck!  I laughed so hard!  I love your urchins or whatever they are and the whole exchange they have with Bobby.  Urass was great!  Sometimes people go too far and it flops and sometimes it's a total success. Go as far as you want.  I've got your back!

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 27/02/12 04:28 PM · On: Chapter 4

On the ceiling?! No freakin' way! I love Bobby and you make me love him even more.  '...more determined footsteps.  He was getting the boy out in one piece.  Killing the monster?  That was a bonus.  Not a priority at this stage.'  Hell yeah!! Poor Dean!  throwing up on yourself is the worst.  hang on.  Sammy and Bobby are coming. Loved the part where Dean thinks about how important and how much it means to him to have his brother tell him he's got his back.  Very touching but not mushy.  You've built the tension up so much that I can't wait for the next chapter. And luckily I don't have to.

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 26/02/12 10:28 PM · On: Chapter 3

Faaaabulous! With every chapter I'm getting sucked in deeper and deeper.  I love cliffhangers, too but maybe not this one so much.  Kidding.  I'm okay because I don't have to wait for the next chapter to be posted.  Yay!

Again, a wonderfully descriptive chapter.  I can visualize the expressions, feel the tension, smell the cave.

I hope Vadar is okay.  Funny, huh?  Kill as many people as you want because that's entertaining but don't harm the dog.   Hee!

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 26/02/12 10:05 PM · On: Chapter 2

Another great chapter!  I love your writing style.  It seems to flow easily giving me a movie in my head.

I'm especially impressed that you managed to convey Dean and Sam's bit of mental telepathy.  Awesome!  That's not an easy task, I'm sure but you made it smooth.

I also liked how you ended this chapter with 'she never made it home.'  Oooh!  That was so Night Stalker.  You might be too young to know about that series but it was a cool precursor to Supernatural that aired back in the 70's.

Reviewer: Shannondoah (Signed) · Date: 26/02/12 08:15 AM · On: Chapter 1

Wow!  What a great first chapter!  Very intriguing and mysterious.  And I love those words, "I'm here for you."  Like they were specifically chosen to be the victim of The Thing and not just random wrong place wrong time victims.

I also like that you formatted your story to follow the show--- beginning with the first victim, then cutting to the boys and following up with another victim.

Your portrayal of Bobby, Sam and Dean are spot on.  You've captured the attitudes and personalities of each man in just a short amount of space.  Rock on!

I'll be keeping my open for updates.

I really like the story, the urchins where great..lol..The Sam I am bit cracked me up..Thanks for writing..

Reviewer: Tree66 (Signed) · Date: 15/10/11 04:13 PM · On: Chapter 12

Well- I was gonna leave this whole mushy heartfelt review- but since Cas came back (nick of time btw) and healed Dean- and you ended on such a high note- with the urchins taking charge and following Sam I Am- lol, and of course- Dean cracking Yer-Ass jokes... well, I just couldnt leave a more reflective review....

Great job in wrapping this up so nicely and in a truly Winchester/show-style way. No chick-flick moments- just the brother's being themselves and getting back to normal. But I will say it was a WONDERFUL touch that during those harrowing moments- when Sam thought Dean was dying that Bobby was there to remind him how big Dean's soul was... I just loved that part.

SO... on to another story huh? I might have to go back first and read this one through start to finish - uninterrupted.... but I'm looking forward to the next.

Well done!

(oh and I fixed the pretties!)

good story. I'm loving it

Reviewer: Tree66 (Signed) · Date: 12/10/11 06:47 PM · On: Chapter 11

Love the sense of panic and desperation in Sam - the feeling of 'oh-so-close' until he finally finds his brother and even then- when you can tell, he just wants to sink into that moment of relief- but there's no time because of the danger they're in...

The stench piles... wow - what can I say about those but EWWW.... I think I had some flashbacks to my former FD days and finding decomps in landfills for just a sec. I'm not sure whether to cringe or high-five you for managing to create such a spot-on description...

Course' you gave me nakedDean - so all's forgiven I suppose... naked-fevered-Dean... *sighs contentedly*

Oh- and then if the stench pile wasnt enough- Bagool arrives with entrails in-tow... I LOVVVVEEEE it... You are a writer after my own heart. Give me eviscerations and gore ANY day of the week. I was almost waiting for him to take a bite!!!

I will admit- I was kinda waiting for an urchin uprising... kinda like the Munchkins doing a song and dance in praise to their returning leader... LOL - Not disappointed or anything... don't get me wrong... you just threw me for a loop when Sam off'd him so quickly. BUT.... I loved the line ""Well, douche bag, turns out we're here for you"  It was like Sam was channelling his inner-Dean... or maybe his inner John McLane ala Die-Hard or something.  While I was maybe expecting a fight scene- that ending was actually fitting!

Ahhh- then we got to the comfort in the H/C --- We dont often get so much tenderness- in fic or in the show... (other than the occasional brotherly back from the dead hug) - but this was wonderful... I love nothing more than the "I got ya" hug between them.... (think I use that myself when I write)

Guess I'm waiting for the wrap up now. Sadly coming to an end...

and I have a PM to answer??? LOL

Still dont trust the urchins... I have a feeling they'll turn the minute the pressure is on... but just maybe if they help for the time being???? *keeps fingers crossed*

I'm also hoping that they're as close as they seem. I thought that just MAYBE they'd hear a groan or two from Dean or vice versa- Dean might hear some noise from them... no such luck-huh? At least you gave me some Dean at the start of the chapter(albeit he was in some pretty desperate conditions)

I'm assuming there at the end- Bagool was out gathering some dinner - err - souls. At least he wasnt back in the cave fixin' to feast on Dean...

C'mon Sam... get your ass (Urass- heehee) in gear!

YAY - Vader's back!

Okay- I'm seriously biting my nails here. Nice job of keeping up the edge of the seat suspense on this one - just dangling the rescue over my head chapter after chapter (naughty girl! lol)

So- what was it that Bobby and Sam read in that book? Inquiring minds want to know! :) I loved the "oh crap" moment between Bobby and Sam.. I could see that one playing out in my head.

You did a phenomenal job of describing Bagool... I had this mental image straight out of LOTR... but after reading THAT... you really twisted that creature up... All I can say is I hope they get to Dean before that thing does...

No Dean in the chap? Okay well- thats normally a banning offense in these parts! (just kidding!) I'll let it slide- just cause you did some damn-good panicked!Sam. I love it when Sam goes into rescue mode... nothing stands in his way!

Still trusting Urass (okay - how funny does that sound?!?!) not so much the other urchins... kinda hoping they might become Vader-chow?

Next chapter? please?????

Author's Response:

Oh, I so love your reviews....you get where I'm coming from!  More Dean in next chapter.... This is a Sam heavy story, wasn't planned that way, it's jut how it unfolded.

Things might get kinda icky from here on...

Reviewer: Tree66 (Signed) · Date: 05/10/11 02:09 PM · On: Chapter 8

Hmmm - I'm hoping that Urass really is on their side. It looks like he did just hold off the others from making lunch out of Dean.

I loved the way you wrote Bobby in that chapter. He was so totally in character- all the way down to the choice of language and the way he behaved - not letting Sam sink into despair- instead snapping him out of it by being a bit snarly and snarky.

I also loved Pete! Nice little Hunter's network there. Reminded me of white-trash Rufus- I could just picture his trailer- all the hunting paraphanelia strewn about- yet he knows exactly what and where it is. Perfect use of the Indiana Jones/ Last Crusade reference... Too bad Dean wasnt there - he could've added the whole "He chose wisely" line... LOL

You've got such an ominous quality still carrying on in this chapter. Just when you think that they're going to save Dean - Urass throws them a curveball with the potion and knife  - then Pete hits them with the whole "dont trust the urchins" bit...

Still... Sam's determined. Gotta give him that... Oh and btw- what happened to Vader? Did I miss something *goes back to read again* LOL

Hmmmm....I wonder if Urass is holding of the other urchins until Sam and Bobby can come back. I wonder what his true motive is? I like Sam being the tallest hunter in the world (Dean would be the prettiest, er I mean handsomest). I like this hunter friend of Bobby, will he help out with this hunt or just lend them the dagger? I'm really looking forward to the next chapter!

How terribly sad for Sam, that his soul is so  broken even a monster doesn't want it and that Urass can sense that about him. I wanted to tear up for Sam. And can I say, "Yikes" again? Poor Dean! What was biting him? Was it a rat, we know how Dean just hates rats! He seems so lost and in such great despair. I hope that Sam, Bobby, (and yes, Urass too) finds him and gets him out of there. Of course they have to kill Bagool, too. I'm sure he won't relent until he has Dean and his soul. Looking forward to reading the next chapter.

Reviewer: moira4eku (Signed) · Date: 05/10/11 10:46 AM · On: Chapter 6

Dang, I must of hit a key and lost my review of this chapter! Anyhow...Like I tried to say in my review that was lost how I'm not sure who I feel more sorry for: Dean who is buried in a stink pile of eaten carcasses and whatnot, or Bobby and Sam who are have come face to face with Bagool. How clever of Urass to hide Dean's sent from Bagool (but not so great for Dean, I'm afraid it will make him ill). I love how Urass and Bagool sense the importance of Dean's "big" soul. I hope Sam and Bobby can  handle the monster and save our hapless Dean. Looking forward to the next chapter.
