Like Sam, I think that Castiel was trying to do the best he could in a horribly hard situation. His intentions were good, he just went in the wrong direction. He definitely deserves redemption. He isn't bad and I believe he will make things right in the end. Nice little snippet into Castiel's thoughts.

Thanks, Gem! Yes, I think Sam understands, been down that road.  Dean is always a little hard to bend, more restrictive in what he sees as right and wrong.  Besides Cas hurt his brother, both in his mistake in bringing him back soulless, but mainly in bringing down the wall.

Dean needs to forgive him, Cas needs a friend and redemption to save him from this godlike being who isn't Cas, not the real Cas.

I can't wait to see what S7 brings. It's gonna be awesome!
