OMG No way!!!!!!!! I was SOOO not expecting that! Although with retrospect Sam's depression and sadness was mega. It's huge in the show, in the fics, but...nope, lost for words here...And just so sudden, wham, all that reflection and then you throw it at us from point blank range!! It's actually awesome!d
I think a death warning would take away the punch, the shock factor, so I agree you should leave it out.
My heart is in pieces for Dean. Your words "...Dean's still uneasy about leaving his baby brother alone right now, well, he's had that feeling most of this life..." And there was his greatest fear waiting or him!! My darkside would love to see how you'd write this.
Many fanfic writers have given wonderful tags from both bros POV post Jess/fire but this one is by far the deepest, darkest, most thought provoking. Top job.
