Hmm...from the way that Sam reacted to Dean's comment about it being a good shot, I'm wondering whether that had something to do with Dean's injury. Did Sam miss, perhaps, and clip Dean instead?
Looking forward to more, and hoping that the overall quietness of the site of late won't deter you from finishing the story.
