This was a phenomenal tag to The Man Who Would be King.  You did a fantastic job having Cas describe his reasons for choosing the path he did.  I really enjoyed this.  Very well written as usual.

Author's Response:

Thanks, I honestly wasn't sure this added anything to Ben Edlund's stunning script.  I think there are many reasons to sympathize with Cas, many explanations for why he forged a pact with the devil in Crowley.  After all, Sam and Dean  once worked for Crowley, what makes Cas' partnership that much worse?

I wish Dean would have tried harder to reach Cas, to listen and understand.  Maybe he was just too hurt by the betrayal, too fixed on his own view of right and wrong.  I love that Dean is always so sure, so right...but maybe he needed to bend a bit here to actually listen to Cas.  Maybe if they both would have reached out they could have found some middle ground.

It is a sad situation all around, but the bottom line is they needed to stop the Apocalypse, maybe more than the first time.  Desperate times...

Thanks for the supportive review, much appreciated, B.J.

Thanks for prolonging!!  During that scene, I just wanted to yell out, "Dean's your sign!!"  It's so true, that angels really weren't made for Team Free Will:(

Author's Response:

I agree, Dean always seems to know the way.  And yet, like Castiel, I wonder 'how'?  How does Dean find his center, how does he know and why couldn't he tell Cas more than just 'trust me'?

I liked that Cas responded back, "Can't you trust me?" which is a valid question, brotherhood and trust should go both ways.

I worry about Cas, where the writers will take him, if Dean and the others and his own inherent goodness will allow him to be saved and redeemed. I guess S7 will tell...

Thanks for reading, B.J.
