Great job!  I love Ellen and her motherly connection with the boys. That last scene of Ellen sneaking in a little comforting kiss....and Dean's reaction....just perfect!

Hey Hun.

That was a lovely little interlude. I've always liked the way Ellen looked out for the boys whilst giving them grief as well and you got her so right. I smiled as she kissed Dean at the end, such a sweet image.

I read this story elsewhere and really loved it. I enjoyed rereading it again. Loved how Ellen took charge and took care of the boys. Such a great mother figure for Dean and Sam. It's great to see someone taking charge and taking care of Dean. Dean being Dean took the brunt of the fuglies in order to protect Sam. Always his number one priority. Absolutely, loved the ending! Thanks for sharing your story here.

I LOVEEEEE these sorts of stories. Not just because I'm an addicted H/C fan or that I'm obviously a HurtDean fan... but I just love it when its Ellen or Bobby (especially) that goes all paternal on the boys - takes charge- watches over- etc... I think because - especially in Dean's case, no one was really there to provide that for him. And you so nicely/subtlely pointed that out with

"I'll tell you," he says, "but Sammy comes first. Always."

that its nice to see him be put first or be the focus of someones care or attention. And before someone gets their hairs bent out of shape- I'm not saying that as a Sam vs Dean thing... I'm saying that as how Dean always put Sam first- kinda thing- that its cool when in this case- Ellen recognizes that and presses him to say "hey- next time you idiot- tell me when you're hurt this bad!"

Sorta like when Bobby chastises him for being an idjit for not putting himself above others...

Anyway... just love the story! I think I've reread it 3 times already- might have to come back for a fourth! LOL

Thanks a bunch for a delightful read!
