Always wondered why Sam thought he could get Dean to leave him in this episode. This was the real begining of our understanding that these boys are too deeply linked to live without each other. It took them a little longer to accept it, but I think in season four they are finally realizing that they are the two halves of the same whole, and the same soul. Nice little story. Thanks.

Really liked your take on that moment - that maybe Dean wouldn't be able to stop Sam from falling, but he would ALWAYS be there to pick him up. *sniff*  Awesome work. I hope there is more where that came from!

There is nothing these two wouldn't do for each other.  I think you've got it here; Dean loves Sam.  He wasn't ready to give up his life when he stayed behind with him.  He just loves his brother.
