I liked how you tied the events of And Then There Was None, Faith and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid together in this one shot.  You did an excellent job describing Sam and Dean's relationship.  I also think you did a fantastic job showing what kind of toll the events of And Then There Were None had on Sam, Dean and Bobby.

Author's Response:

Thanks! I love the continuity of the show and if I can incorporate those elements into my stories, well, it just makes them richer, showing the history and the toll their lives have.

I loved ATTWN and seeing the guys all together, hurting and yet supporting each other was great.  It was really sad to lose Rufus, but it also showed how Sam and Dean are different.  They do forgive, they do hold tight to their family and hopefully their fates will be different too.

Take care, B.J.

As always BJ- you knock it out of the park with writing such spot-on emotion. I'm alawys amazed and enthralled by how you managed to so beauticully capture not only the characters but how their inner thought-processes work and then you convey them not only with dialogue but with non-verbals such as  Just hearing his gravelly voice seemed to perk up the brothers.  They both turned and hesitant smiles breached their faces, their pain cast aside for a moment as they rejoiced in the figure standing before them.

I can just picture the looks on both Sam and Dean's faces just as easily as I can hear Bobby's voice.

Wonderful tag... love it like all your work!

Tree

Author's Response:

Thanks, Tree!  You're reviews are always so uplifting and positive. I'm only able to capture their emotions because the Js play Sam and Dean so vividly.  Just thinking of them puts the words into my head and I see them.

Always glad to know what I'm seeing comes thru in my words. Sam and Dean are such emotional men, whether they are stuffing down the hurt or enjoying a brotherly moment away from the fray.

All of the Safe Haven tags are exceptional, again showing how many ideas can spring out of one very-satisfying episode. We always want to know more about our Winchesters, including every thought and emotion.

Thanks again and take care, B.J.

That was beautifully written, B.J.  You captured the emotions of the episode well.  I wished that Rufus didn't die, but death is an unfortunate fact of life for hunters.  Losing him and coming close to losing Bobby had to take a toll on the Winchesters and you showed that in in your story.

Author's Response:

Thanks, Terry!  I too wish that Rufus didn't die, but Show has a way of making characters' deaths important and Rufus went out with a bang!

I found the parallels between Bobby & Rufus and Sam & Dean  really powerful in this episode.  Losing him hurt them all, but it was nice to see them come together even closer as family.

And we all know how much the boys love Bobby, just the thought of them losing him makes my heart ache for them.  They have endured too many losses in their lives, buried too many friends.

Thanks again, B.J.

Awesome b.j! wow, just awesome!! thanks!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Liz! So glad you had the chance to read and enjoyed my efforts.  All the stories in the challenge are awesome, so much emotion and seeing the boys' stories through different eyes.  Seems we all agree though, they care so much and as family they will see each other through.

I don't think evil stands a chance against our boys!

Take care, B.J.

Great story, I loved all the emotions and how you had the boys and Bobby deal with them. Great writing style too, really loved it. The ending, very fitting and it was very Bobby. Hugs, Vonnie

Author's Response:

Hugs to you, Vonnie! I love examining and feeling their emotions. And fanfics give us the opportunity to have them deal with the fallout that Show puts them through.

I always love the 'sit on the Impala and talk about their feelings' or the 'share a beer and not talk about their feelings' moments.  Any chance to get all three of them together, just sharing their love and being a family is good.

Thanks for a lovely review, B.J.

Great fic with astute observations.  And could so imagine Sam reliving Dean getting electrocuted in Faith when his brother had to electrocute Bobby to rid him of the worm.

Wise words from Bobby and loved the ending, Bobby sharing the whiskey with Sam and Dean back at the motel room.

And with regard to your chapter end notes, I think Dean and Sam left Bobby alone at the graveside for him to pay his respects and give him some space in case he broke down, it was a private moment between two old friends.  And you having him share the whiskey with the boys complimented that so well.

Great job.

Sarah

Author's Response:

Thanks, Sarah! I love the continuity of Supernatural and any chance to connect past actions or events into their present story.  You could tell that both Sam and Dean anguished about electrocuting Bobby and that there is always residual pain there.

Bobby is so wise and able to get to the heart of the matter. With Dean's speech on forgiveness, both Bobby and Sam had to be feeling it, for others and for themselves.  That is what family does.  And one reason why Rufus is to be pitied, he never moved past the hurt to offer forgiveness and that was his loss.

I agree about Bobby needing time alone with Rufus, and it is so sensitive of the boys to give him that time in case he did break down.  I just missed seeing the three of them together having that drink, which made it perfect to end my story with them sharing that bottle and supporting each other.

Thanks again, take care, B.J.

Loved this one BJ. You caught all the emotion between the boys and their love for Bobby perfect. Loved the end and sharing a drink of Rufus' favorite together. Perfect ending and made me smile. We will miss Rufus..great character and perfect constrast for Bobby. This was a great start for this latest SH challenge..now I can't wait to read everyone else's.

Take care,
Jane

Author's Response:

Thanks, Jane! Our brothers are all about emotion, particularly when it concerns family. It is always a pleasure to try and get inside their heads and guide them towards acceptance.

Rufus was a great character, and like so many before him, he had a powerful send-off.  We will miss him.

So many awesome challenge stories to read.  It's amazing how each writer can focus on a slightly different angle and come up with something so intriguing and different.  Enjoy!

Thanks again and take care, B.J.
