Very cool! I'm not always a huge fan of WeeChester- but this was a great tale. I love to see John before he was all hard and callous... granted- its easy to see how/ why he got that way- but we also know and saw that he dearly loved those boys and wasnt the bastard that too much of fanfiction makes him out to be.
I also loved this bit:Noticing his small bundle was unusually quiet he peered down and noticed Sammy was sucking on his fingers again. John was beginning to think this was a habit Sam might have developed if he was scared or anxious. Nice way to weave Sam's little mannerism's into the tale!!!
And I totally loved Pastor Jim... I know we never got to see much of him, but I think you captured the spirit of his personality quite well!
Again- nice little one-shot! Nice change of pace!
