I love the way you've set this story up. Poor Dean! That's no hangover. I'm almost afraid to read on to see what you're going to do to him.
Author's Response: Thank you for reading, Mel! I hope you like the rest :)

I was three chapters behind. All caught up now. I knew Dean would somehow try to rescue Sam. It's a good thing they were wrong about Gary. Now that Bobby's here I hope he and Sam can figure out a way to help Dean. (Don't heal him yet!)
Author's Response: thanks for reading/reviewing, saber! hahaha i don't intend to heal him yet...or ever? no, i will. eventually. but not any time soon.

Bribery for the Admin? Okay- wet/shower/Dean works EVERY time!!!!! LOL Actually, I loved the helplessness accompanied by how Sam just assisted but then backed off.... too many other stories would have had him too "clingy" and basically scrubbing Dean's back before dressing him and putting him to bed. Not in character! But this was perfect- still very much concerned- but still Winchester stubborn/ independent - with Sam respecting that space - if not still very much watching out for him! PERFECT! And I gotta say- there's actually nothing better than leaving things the the imagination- (especially MY overactive imagination) *MMmmmmmm Dean in the shower- all hurt and weak!* Anyway- where was I??? LOL YAY- Bobby is there now and they KNOW who the bad guy is- but something tells me that Dean puking up blood aint good (never was in all the medical classes I took at least!) and something also tells me that just because they know its Brian- he's not exactly going to go quietly! I really LOVED the very end too! SO much like a typical episode ending- Sam promising they could fix Dean then turning to Bobby "How the hell are we going to fix this, Bobby?" - I can just imagine Bobby's half-worried scowl in response. He'd love to shrug and say "How do I know, idjit?" if he wasnt so damn worried about Dean too! So um... I'm figuring we just chalked off yet another day for Dean- he's kinda running out here!!!! Tick Tock!!! LOL Great chapter hun! Tree
Author's Response: hahaha that was exactly what it was :) I'm glad you liked the shower scene! (I liked writing it). thanks for all your wonderful reviews! next chapter is shorter, but I'm trying to figure out a way to tie everything up.

I so wanted to help Dean in his shower. Seems like he really needed help. Sigh...Anyhow, I'm so glad that Bobby is there. Perhaps they can find out why Brian is targeting the tourist and of course, poor Dean. Dean seems to be getting worse and worse. Will they be able to leave him alone for any length of time? Seems like his time is getting close for the Jersey Devil to strike. Sam's question at the end was really worrisome. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: meee too (with the shower-helping). i feel bad that i keep hurting dean but it's too much fun...so it will keep coming.

Well, that certainly was nail biting! So Gary doesn't have anything to do with the JDevil but his happy go lucky step brother Brian is the controller of the devil. I like that Gary had a soft spot for Dean. Dean needs people to be in his corner especially if he is a marked man. Dean still seems to be deteriorating pretty quickly. And I'm sure the woman's scream was the Jersey Devil trying to lure Sam and Dean out of the hospital. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: Nope! Gary is innocent! LOL who wouldn't have a soft spot for Dean? Especially injured, adorable, soaking wet Dean. Thanks for the review, moira! Next chapter up soon.

Brian???? Wait a minute.... *runs back to read previous chapters* Did I miss Brian? Oh who cares - did someone say something about Dean in the shower??? *totally loses train of thought* This is even more of an evil cliffie than the last one- how dare you leave it hanging and not go into SPECIFIC AND GRAPHIC detail of wet Dean getting undressed and into the shower?!?!?!?!?! I do love how suspicious of Gary and over-protective Sam was of Dean - very in character. And Dean- sick and half dead- ever the hunter- still prying for info on the guy... I almost expected Gary to say he was a hunter too... consecreted rounds... nice touch. Okay- back to Dean in the shower!!! LOL Tree
Author's Response: LOL - Brian was awhile back, the first night they were in the bar. The thing is, I only gave about 2 or 3 suspects, and then after I killed Jenkins there were only 2...so that was my attempt at making it a "shocking" reveal. Yeah, I didn't really think that one through too well. But now all you need to know is that Brian and Gary are step-brothers, both related to Mother Leeds (distantly, of course), and that Brian is the one controlling the Jersey Devil, for whatever reason...

Arggh! Short but such a tense chapter- its like watching the previews for the next eppy.. I totally devoured this and then dashed back off to see if there was something more to validate ( and there wasnt - more's the pity *stomps foot like a 2 y/o LOL) I loved the imagery though- I dont know why you were worried about it playing back and forth- it worked so well because it made it that much more nerve-wracking. I knew what was coming- but could feel my heart in my throat willing Sam to go back- willing Dean to hurry up... and just plain old hoping against hope that the Devil just wouldnt show... but I knew it wasnt going to happen that way cause after all- what would the point be if there was no angst and pain and that delicious wait of the evil cliffie??? Now as for Gary... hopefully he dies horribly- gutted by the very creature he thinks he's controlling ( serves him right for even thinking of harming the boys) and Dean? C'mon Dean- getupgetupgetup!!!! And Bobby! WTH ARE YOU!!!!! LOL! Okay... I'll just try to sit here patiently (yeah right) and wait for the next chapter! Tree
Author's Response: hahahaha your review made me laugh because i was thinking i should have had the next chapter submitted already. but i just did, so no fear! thanks for all your thoughts! i'm glad you thought that chapter was okay - i was really worried about that one.

Crap! What is Gary gonna do? Is he really gonna shoot Sam? I'm praying something or someone interferes with Gary's dastardly plans. Poor Dean, if something happens to Sam, he'll never get over it. Biting my nails until the next update.
Author's Response: Next chapter should be up soon! And all those questions will be answered...thanks for reading and reviewing, moira!
Reviewer: moira4eku (Signed) · Date: 17/04/11 10:30 PM · On: Chapter 10
Yikes! Dean will be done for if something happens to Sam. He definitely is in no shape to help himself out or anyone else for that matter. They really need Bobby to get there. I wonder if the scream is just a smoke screen to get Dean alone? Once again, you have another great chapter in your story! Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to the next chapter
Author's Response: Thanks moira!! I hope you like the next chapter - should be up soon :)

I think Sam is dead right - there is something sinister going on around the Devil, if not with the creature itself. Jenkins obviously knows more than he's letting on, and even Gary has pinged on Dean's radar. I had a bad feeling about the guys splitting up just then - thankfully nothing happened...this time... But something tells me that now that Dean has been marked by the creature, Sam better stay close. Personal space be damned. Jules
Author's Response: Thanks for all those reviews, Jules! Your thoughts on the story are dead-on. haha i don't know why but i loved that scene where dean was trying to kick off his still-tied boots. cute, helpless dean...
Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 17/04/11 09:32 PM · On: Chapter 6
Hmm.....is the Devil targeting the boys because they're hunters, or because Sam's such a magnet for the supernatural? And if it's Sam, then why did it go after Dean first and swoop away from Sam when it had him dead to rights? And it let the other two go, when it could have had an easy meal. *taps finger against chin*.... Something weird is definitely going on here. Jules oh - almost forgot - loved the little visual image of Dean trying to kick off his still-laced boots - lol
Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 17/04/11 09:22 PM · On: Chapter 5
Loved the X-Files reference...and I don't think Sam's voice is any more tuneful than Scully's was - LOL. Must have been a low blow for such a pyromanic as Dean to not be able to light a fire. Where's a big bucket of accelerant when you need one, eh? One brother down, one to go....at least in the creature's eyes. Wonder how close it is....*shivers* And where are heckle and jeckle? Did the Jersey Devil have a little evening snack first, or are the other brothers lost and alone as well? Jules
Reviewer: mizpah (Signed) · Date: 17/04/11 09:13 PM · On: Chapter 4
I find it highly suspicious that the townspeople aren't concerned about the deaths. Surely they'd be at least a little worried by the local monster eating their tourist trade. Unless they know something we don't.... And what was with the wind? Each brother thought he was alone, until the final (very evil) cliffhanger - but was it really Sam discovering his brother near the tree of his nightmares, or an illusion? Reading on to find out.... Jules

*Rubs hands together* This is exciting. I see trouble coming for Sam. And with Dean so sick who will watch our for Sammy? (Love me some sick Dean!) Thanks for not making us wait so long for more chapters. You rock!
Author's Response: no problem, saber! thanks for reading and for all your reviews :)

Sammy...Sammy...Sammy *shakes head* - just doesnt know that its never good to separate.... leaving his sick brother behind? Has been away from Dean so long that he's forgotten how stubborn a lucid Dean can be- much less an incoherant/ injured one? LOL I got $5 says that Sam is gonna get his butt in trouble chasing after the Devil and Dean is gonna think its his responsibility to go protect him- and of course- will Bobby show up in time???? OOooohh and its raining too! I lovvvveeee wetWinchesters! Heeheee!! Ten minutes huh? I bet its gonna feel like FOREVER! Tree
Author's Response: I agree - how could he NOT think Dean would go after him? Not smart...and haha to the wetWinchesters - that's EXACTLY why it's rainingg! Thanks for reading and thanks for the review, Tree!

Yeah! I'm glad that Bobby is coming to help out. Dean and Sam need all the help they can get. Well, I guess Jenkins isn't controlling the beast since he is now a victim. Yikes, what a way to go. I wonder who is controlling the Jersey Devil? Dean is just getting worse and worse. I'm surprised he can function at all. Looking forward to reading the next chapter!
Author's Response: Thanks for all those reviews! I'm glad Bobby is coming too - I love when he helps out the boys :)

Tee hee, Dean said he allergic to libraries. So Dean! Anyhow, I didn't think that Jenkins necklace might be a talismen to protect him from the devil. Dean is definitely getting worse, poor boy. They need to figure this out before the Jersey Devil comes for Dean. Looking forward to the next chapter!

Hmmmm....wonder if Jenkins is somehow controlling the Jersey Devil? Seems like he is involved somehow and perhaps Gary as well. I'm worried that Dean is about to get really sick from his cuts. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Hurry, Bobby. The boys need your help. Seems like those who caught the mysterious illness got progressively worse." He studied Dean, not liking the way his brother looked at all. "Until the Devil killed them," he added quietly. This reminds me of "I've got bad news and even worse news. Which do you want first." Still reading and wanting more.
Author's Response: I'm so glad you're still enjoying it! More soon :)

YAY- always love it when Bobby's on the way! I gotta admit- I didnt think you were gonna gank old man Jenkins... I was sure there was a Scooby Do plot in there - "It was old man Jenkins that was behind the Jersey Devil!" (Sam could be the perfect Velma - LOL) So- only 3 days left for Dean.... if there's anything better than Hurt/SickDean- then its gotta be when the clock is ticking on him... Great update!! Tree
Author's Response: Ha when I first started writing this, I think I was going to make Jenkins the killer. But that seemed far too obvious...and then I just thought it would be cool if the devil killed him. Thanks for your comments, Tree!

Dean grunted but didn't answer Sam's question. "Let's just get out of here. I think I'm allergic to libraries." Funny! Poor Dean. I hope he isn't too sick. Who am I kidding. I love sick Dean. More please.
Author's Response: hahaha I remember writing that and laughing and thinking no one else would think it was funny. you're the first person to say anything! thank you for reading and reviewing! there will be plenty more hurt dean...because who couldn't love that?

Love how you move the story along so smoothly, the plot thickens. I have to say I'm hedging on Jenkins, although he's surley- he does seem to want the boys to stay out of harms way. Th hurt Dean is still rocking the party by the way. (I'm a little twisted when it comes to that!) So all in all gold stars all round!! Abi.
Author's Response: thank you for yet another review! i love hurt dean too, so i write it as much as possible :)
Reviewer: Tree66 (Signed) · Date: 14/04/11 10:08 AM · On: Chapter 7
Ooh the plot thickens.... so the creature has a mark on it and Jenkins is wearing a necklace with the same design??? Methinks the old boy is controlling the creature maybe????? And Dean is getting sicker ( always gotta love that!) but I'm thinkin' those clawmarks gotta have some bad mojo in em'!!! Course- superSleuthSammy is putting it all together- right? Hopefully he'll figure it out in time- Most definately still liking it!!!! :) Tree
Author's Response: you're too smart - the clawmarks definitely have something to do with it. more soon - and lots more hurt/sick dean. thanks for reviewing again :)

I am truly greatful that I stumbled across this story. You are a very skilled writer and obviously know your Supernatural because the references flow so easily making this a seemless tale. I am just so impressed with your unfolding of the case, all the elements; the brothers working relationship and character, the outling and investigation of the case is all first rate and works really well. I can't actually believe that you haven't a) written anything before this and b) you haven't gotten more reviews because your work is really good! Thank you for the read, looking forward to more. Abi.
