Hmm....not sure about the pie, hun. Might just stick to plain old apple - lol. 

I'd actually read this when you posted, but never got back to leave you a review. 

This story, while it's not in any way similar apart from the pie, reminds me of BHoney's awesome The Importance Of Pie. The same sentiment runs through both stories. 

Loved the way you fleshed out the memory of Sam's from Dark Side of The Moon, giving us the background to and aftermath of the event. And adored how Sam wanted to give his brother something special, and hitting on the perfect present for his pie-worshipping sibling. 

Didn't envy John the bucket of KFC, though. Yecch.....greasy....*gags*...

I've never read Beth's Pie fic because I never have that much time but her Parenting Your Gifted Child is one of my all time faves.  Haven't heard from her in a long while.  Have you?

I had to do something to make Dark Side of the Moon a little easier for me to swallow.....no pun intended....okay, maybe just a little. :)  I know Zachariah manipulated those memories.  No way did Sam's best moments not include Dean in them somewhere.

I love this one:)  The comments about Dean asking the typical parent questions, even though Dean never had to deal with that....typical of the perfectly protective and watchful older brother.  And then Sammy brings him pie!! Guh! That's just sweeter than the pie you described!! That sounds just like a Sammy thing to do  for Dean .  Wonderful Thanksgiving tale!


Author's Response: Thanks Terri!  I liked this one quite a bit too and was extremely hungry for some pie after writing it. :)  I love stories about the boy's childhood and I really wanted a more positive twist on DSOTM since it was such a disturbing episode.  Thanks for reading and thanks for the stars!!

Aww..sweet. I agree that Zacariah was manipulating Sam's memories, and nice job of skirting that bit of canon to add a Dean-slant to Sammy's first real Thanksgiving. I knew what Sammy was taking home as soon as you mentioned the box;-)

Mmmmmmm Apple butter pumpkin pie!!! I doooooo love pie... and now I'm hungry!

Great story hun! and perfect for the holiday- almost forgot that little bit in DSOTM... and this is a nice twist (in a way) to an otherwise- angsty eppy. I like that Dean covered (which he would have) and that Sam brought back the pie for him... (the pie king! HAHAHA)

That whole episode bothered me a lot and this had been in the back of my mind for awhile, even before I wrote the drabble.  I thought the drabble might be enough to satisfy me, but nope, it wasn't so I had to write more.
