Hell's bells is right! What an awesome piece of writing. Your descriptions are amazingly easy to visualise, and I loved this line:

Not Dean, who had sacrificed everything, everything a man could give, to keep everybody safe but himself. Spot.On.

I also get a real sense of Sam's determination to protect his brother, and I have to admit that makes me melt. Great work, thank you.

Wow, thank you so much!  What a wonderful review - you've made me smile awfully big considering I woke up at 6 am, LOL!  I'm tickled to pieces that the visualizations in this story played well for you - I'm a very visual reader and I do like to write that way.  So it's extra nice to hear when it worked for others, too. 

*beams* And YAY, I melted you with Sam-ness!  Hee!  I gotta tell you, this story was hard to write, especially since we don't really *know* Sam's frame of mind now, only that he's sworn in no uncertain terms that he'll save Dean.   I'm very happy this rang true for you.  Thanks for reading and making my whole morning!
