I really liked what you did.  Very well done!  The only thing I would  have liked to have seen was a little of Sam finding out what happened to Dean and how he felt, even though I know it didn't happen in the show.  Anyway, great job!

Author's Response:

Thanks, hon.  I posted this over on ff.net as well, and the #1 request seems to be for some kind of sequel where Sam finds out what happened and apologizes like mad.  lol.  Not sure I could write it, though.  It would feel too much like wishful thinking.

So glad you liked it!

It was a great story.... and there really was a gap begging to be filled after that episode.  You truly brought the rawness, the intense emotions and utter unfairness to light.  I feel like I just got kicked!  As a reader.....I just wanted there to be justice at the end, or remorse.  I wanted Dean to rise up and defend himself, John to apologize and Sam to beg Dean for forgiveness.  But the Winchesters didn't have the same view of the events that I had.  Dean's brain is so hard-wired from a young age that he didn't even see the indignity of it all. He internalized it all into that damaged psyche of his....and life went on.  Sam was too young to even look to the consequences.  He remained in the dark until Dark Side of the Moon, and even then did not know how Dean coped with his disappearance.  John was too driven and too removed from true fatherhood to even know how to do things differently.  Again.....great tag, but a disturbingly sad time for the Winchester family.

I know what you mean.  You want so many things to happen after this episode, but know from watching 5.16 that there's no closure on this one.  John lost his temper and took his anger out on Dean, and Sam never had a clue.  (I confess, that episode REALLY changed the way I view Sam Winchester, and I'm still struggling to see  him as anything but self-centered.)

I wish there was closure on this, too.  I especially wish that Sam took responsibility for what he inadvertantly put on Dean.  Him just shrugging it off, all, "oops!" just wasn't enough remorse for me.  And yet, I totally get why he thought those two weeks were great.
