This was fabulous!  I loved that you picked up the narration from Swan Song!  It was a pleasure to read and you've summed up that elusive Winchesterness that is the essence of Sam and Dean and will make them immortal.

They hope it was their choice, but in the end only God knows for sure and he's not talking.  You took an everyday saying and gave it real meaning.  Great statement!  I love that it can be taken more than one way.

With the reflection of time he thought he'd find deeper meaning, new truths, better understanding.  In reality nothing much changed, every thought and feeling the same.  What a cruel truth!  What we say to convince ourselves is rarely a reality.  It really makes me believe that Dean isa real person.

As Sam's big brother, it was his duty to be there. As a man, it was his honor.  Oh!  That brought tears to my eyes.  How beautifully put!

They each had a part to play and they played it magnificently.  And that is all you can ask.  All you can expect from heroes.  Wow!  The narrator has an calmness to his words as he tells in understated words, how the Winchesters saved the world.  No one can expect more from the Winchesters than they've given.  No one can imagine (except Kripke) them having to give so much.

With these Winchesters, one should know, it is never the end.  Not for men such as these.  Yet another statement that shows the Winchesters are merely men but men of unusual honor and character.

Author's Response:

What an absolutely fabulous review!  Thank you.  I especially love hearing which lines resonated with you.  Yes, that elusive Winchesterness that so captivates us is the true essence of Sam and Dean.  I love how they always seem to find their way to their right course of action, even with insurmountable odds and every reason stacked against them.

And while some dismissed Dean's role here, I find his part integral and I love that he stayed totally human and it was how he lived his life, how he was always there for Sam that made all the difference.

And man, talk about heartache, not only losing Sam to Hell, but helping it come to pass.  Sam was truly heroic, doing what only he could do, but Dean was right there beside him, as our brothers should always be.

The Winchesters are men of honor, men of high ideals who also know how to fight in the trenches, who are willing to go that extra mile, even if it ends up sacrificing one of their own.

I can't wait to see where Sera and Kripke take the boys now.  Thanks again, much appreciated.  Take care, B.J.

Great job with this episode tag. It seems fitting that Dean would put off talking about Sam's final sacrifice as long as possible...if ever...and the musings about coincidence of destiny and free will were thought-provoking. Thanks!

Author's Response:

Thanks, Armaita!

I love all the philosophical musings that Supernatural presents, all while they are entertaining us and giving us so much awesome drama and comedy, along with the angst.

I don't know that we could ever say anything is totally Free Will, because destiny is so hard to define.  I think the Winchesters were chosen, so did God know how it would all work out?  Did all roads lead to them resisting heaven and hell and taking their own path, the path that their true destiny called them to?

Amazing that a little horror show on the CW allows us to consider all these possibilities.  Thanks for reading, take care, B.J.

I really loved this tag. I could easily hear Chuck's narration as I read this. Both boys are heroes and without each other Lucifer would have leveled the world and billions of souls would have perished. Thanks for sharing!

Author's Response:

Thanks for reading and reviewing, much appreciated.  I love Chuck and while narration is hard, Rob aced it.

Both boys are heroes and both held firm to what they believed in.  I love that it was their connection, their love and bond that overcame such evil as Lucifer.

Kripke gave us a wonderful humanistic ending to his story.  Thanks again, B.J.

I loved the narrator voice too.  I love that each of the boys really was a hero.  I really love the line as a brother it was his duty, as a man it was his honor.  *sniffle*

Author's Response:

Oh, thank you!  I too loved that line, how Dean was so proud of Sam and wanted to be there, even though it had to be unbearable.  It truly was an honor to bear witness to Sam's grand actions.

Sam was heroic, that look on his face, how peaceful he was in his certainty just breaks your heart.  And Dean would respect that, acknowledge the man his brother was, even if it was the hardest thing he ever had to witness.

And Chuck, yes, I love Chuck's narration.  Simply perfect and it is so easy for me now to hear his voice in my head.

Take care, B.J.

I loved this.  I didn't feel that you repeated anything from your previous tag for Swan Song.  I thought you did an excellent writing job summing up Sam and Dean's adventures and relationship.  Great job!

Author's Response:

Thank you!  I will probably repeat myself by the time I post the additional three tags I have in various stages of completion.  Like Mystery Spot before, Swan Song is fast becoming one of their most inspiring episodes.  So much I want to say about the awesomeness of the boys.

Thanks again!  Later, B.J.
