     I enjoyed reading this.  I enjoy stories told from Bobby's point of view.  I think you are right about Bobby coming all that way just to pick up the Impala.  He would have done whatever he had to do to see Dean while he was there.

You are definitely channeling some Bobby Singer!  I could totally imagine Bobby saying and feeling all of this and you fit this all in perfectly with the story we already know!  Very nice!

I love the idea of this; it really is a gaping hole when you look back on it, knowing how they developed Bobby's character into that important second father figure.  I'm sure you are right, there's no way he wouldn't have gone to see Dean - and it was sad you chose a moment when we know Dean wasn't in his body to have Bobby tell him how much he was needed.

Loved the description of Dean's presence/energy as the Impala idling - very appropriate!  And your little throwaway about pissed being John's default setting made me laugh.

It was interesting to look at the early Bobby's interactions with the boys compared to their later relationship.  Yes, I was sad that Dean wouldn't hear Bobby's words, but I don't think he was ready for a "substitute father" at that point (and there was no other time Dean was alone in the hospital!)  But I think Bobby really needed the closure.
