What? No one knows that Dean has disappeared? How are they going to find him on the streets? I'm really worried about him now, wandering around as ill as he is. I'm glad that Dennis has figured out what Dean has and it is quite treatable. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they find him soon. Sam is gonna go ballistic when he finds his brother missing!
Author's Response: Dean will put his loved ones through their paces as always. Poor bastard.....

Great chapter. Just like Dean, just when they find out what's wrong with him, he's done a runner, gone from the safety of the hospital to who knows where. Sam's gonna love this. Can't wait to read the next post. Thanks...
Author's Response: Dean, always a runner. He'll never balk from adversity, or flee when others are in peril, but he'll run from anything that will hold him down.

The title of this fic is quite appropiate since I'm really addicted to it! Thanks for the awesome update, I'm glad Dennis showed up again, he really redeemed himself. They better find Dean soon otherwise he'll be even worse off than he is now.
Author's Response: Aw, thanks. At first I too had perceived Dr Dennis as a dick, but I saw the reality of his administration.

Awww.... thank YOU! I loved this chapter. Once again you are the master of twists and turns :) Who would have thought of that? Brilliant idea. I had a feeling Dennis could come in handy and I like the way you describe him. He has learned his lesson but he also knows the limits of how much they confide in him. Now I sooo want to see another chapter up soon. Hopefully they will find Dean soon. But they will probably only find him by sheer luck, given his confused state and the fact that he has no papers etc. on him. Looking forward to more!
Author's Response: I didn't like Dennis at first either, but I realized his position. I think he will come out well, lol

Oh DEAN! Poor boy! And Sam and David are going to freak... Great twist - how the heck are they going to find him??? And MY thanks to you for writing such a great story - it's easy to keep up with it faithfully... this is the only story I'm following right now, in fact!
Author's Response: Thanks so much. I can't believe how time is flying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aw man... I so feel for all of them. Dean just can't pull himself together, he has spiraled too far down. I guess deep inside he might have been touched by Sam's efforts, the people's mails, David's help - but he is too far gone and mentally exhausted that he just doesn't care anymore. He is empty. And I absolutely loved how you portrayed that. Just like Tree said above I cannot praise your writing style and choice of words enough. One needs to hit bottom sometimes to completely restart. I guess Dean is so in need of a restart. I am at a loss on how to get him up again but knowing you, the answer is playing out in your head already :)
Author's Response: Ah, you are a doll. Thanks for reading!--ml

Awww...Poor Sam I feel so much for him, seeing your brother weaker and weaker who didn't want to get better it's heartbreaking. David tried to talk to Dean, Sam too but nothing is working, what's going to happen now, I can't wait to know.
Author's Response: Yes, poor Dean is wearing down. Thanks for reading!--ml

OMG, I was sure Sam was going to get through to Dean, but now I'm not so sure anymore. I can't blame David for giving Dean a lecture, I hope that will somehow get him out of his depression.
Author's Response: David and Dean will try to break through, although neither is fully equipped to really fix it. Thanks for reading--ml

I'm sorry, but am I the only one that thinks Dean is overdoing it a little. He made a mistake, big deal boo-hoo, deal with it. But he didn't do all the other things he's blaming himself for. Plus back then he saw everything as black and white, the way he had been taught. So now he knows sometimes the supernatural is grey. Like David said he really needs to get his head out of his ass. Sorry for the rant, but Dean malady has gone on long enough, it's affecting Sam as well. Looking forward to more. Thanks.
Author's Response: I hear you. But I think Dean is suffering from an accumulative effect of so many traumas and disappointments. Hard to fix, no matter how much one wants to see him well...

Aw Dean... always with the massive self-reproach and lack of faith. If there ever a poster boy for lacking self-worth, it would be him. I was sooo hoping that Sam was going to get through to him... and still keeping my fingers crossed that when he regains consciousness that maybe- JUST MAYBE - some of this has sunk in. But I'm afraid true to his Basic Training, that dog has just been beaten too many times!!! I know I dont come out of hiding as often as I should to review- but I think you know how much a ABSOLUTELY ADORE your writing and its always the details! Nothing could be more true than in this chapter... David watched him as he waited. His patient's reddish beard was uncharacteristically long... he'd seen Dean in various states of scruff, but this was the most whisker he'd ever witnessed. It was sparse still, due to his youth, and his light colouring, nothing like his father's dark, dense beard. But the fact that he'd allowed it to get to this length was telling. He was usually fairly fastidious, but he'd paid little attention to himself in the past days. He was thin, and colourless, too much so for David's comfort..
I LOVE that you chose to capture Jensen's reddish beard as it grows in- and bring that nuance to life in this story... picturing Dean's coloring as he's slowly sinking further and further into this deep pit of despair... It makes for a vivd picture of his condition, scruff against his pale complexion, muscle tone wasting away due to injury, and lack of use... Simply perfect! and even though I've never been known as anything remotely resembling a SamGirl - my heart was definately tugged at Sam's absolute frustration and consuming worry over his brother. "Now what..?!" he thought bitterly. "I'm not a bloody faith-healer! NOW WHAT?!" Once again, Mal- absolutely a fabulously woven tale! Tree
Author's Response: (eyes truly tearing up) thanks for that---ml

I really feel badly for everyone involved. David and Sam are trying so hard to get Dean to see how important he was to many people's lives and are really not succeeding yet. Dean is in such a dark place right now that I'm not sure what will bring him back. His health seems to be suffering as well and that is quite worrisome. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: Thank you. I feel for the lot of them...ml

Wow. I'm with David. Dean's too weak and sick to actually hear Sam. Short of Iris coming back and forgiving him, it's hard to imagine what is going to pull him out of this funk. The only thing I can imagine, is if he has to come to Sam's rescue - he's going to really have to see what this is doing to Sam....
Author's Response: Thanks, truly. Never meant to drag this tale out, but famous last words, right? ---ml

I love the supernatural! I love to be surprised! I love to be intrigued! And I love art that connects with the heart! One of the things I absolutely adore about Supernatural is its ability to merge all those things and give me a show where I often laugh harder tahn I ever have before, cry harder than I ever thought I would have and still teaches me. All that is to say that what Supernatural does for me, this story accomplishes the same. When I started reading it the story was compelling and if nothing else that would have been enough. But then there were so many twists and turns without the fake flash that I was compelled to keep reading. And the soul component you interjected with Dean's struggle. I have to say great work! Now I wait to see how Sam will convince Dean!
Author's Response: Thank you very much, Star, for the enthusiastic review. I treasure these, ---ml

Jeez, I really hope Sam finds a way to get through to Dean so that he knows he's helped hundreds of people. But things aren't looking too good at the moment. Thanks for the update!
Author's Response: Por nada. Sam will try until he is blue in the face, but he may have to realize that there are some things he just can't fix.

I just ache for Dean and Sam here. Dean is falling into a deep depression and Sam is trying so hard to keep Dean from falling too far. I really liked Dennis here, too. He seems to be a really caring doctor. Hopefully, between David, Dennis, and Sam (especially Sam) they will get Dean out of this awful funk. Perhaps if Sam reads the letters, Dean will realize his life has real meaning and he is important. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: I fear Dean has shut his mind to what is in front of him. Hard to blame him, considering his experiences.

Poor Sam, is trying so hard to help Dean but Dean doesn't want to live anymore, it's scary. Sam must be desesperated by now, how he can get through Dean, I wonder. Heartbreaking chapter, I can't wait for more.
Author's Response: I feel for Sam too. And David. Neither is equipped to heal the psyche.

Always great to see an update! I have no idea what Sam is going to do with Dean - maybe it will take a flood of people arriving in person....
Author's Response: I think Dean's head will prove to be as hard a barrier as any of them has faced thus far. Poor bastard.

Wow, is Dean really that sick or is it all in his head as the doc's said? Will reading the e-mails make a difference? Great chapter, looking forward to the next one. Thanks..
Author's Response: I think Dean is both physically and emotionally vanquished. It will take a miracle....

Just wanted to say I'm reading and enjoying this story. Thank you so much for sticking with it. I hope Dean can snap out of his funk. Can't wait to see if Sam will be successful.
Author's Response: Thanks Saber, really good to hear. Second last post here, won't leave you waiting too long, Mal

Loved it! Although not much action, you always manage to capture my full attention and at the end of each chapter I'm like "uh, more?". Your style of writing is amazing - I cannot tell you enough. And just when I thought we are nearing the end of the story you manage another turn. Poor Dean. He never catches a break. Let's hope they get a hold of Dennis. Looking forward to more - thanks!
Author's Response: Aw Dag...thanks for that. I try to keep it interesting. Even when I'm slow to update, the story still plays out in my mind. Unfortunately it's competing with a whole lot of other distractions, lol. Mal

Ha, every time I think Dean's out of the woods, you manage to make it worse again. Since I'm a sucker for hurt-Dean stories, I don't mind at all, but I do hope that Dennis will know how to treat him.
Thanks for the update!
Author's Response: Dennis...he has to deal with the painful awakening he's been subjected to. I'm not sure he is the key to Dean's recovery....

Awww...Dean is giving up body and soul. Sam and David've no solution in sight. What's going to happen now, can't wait to know.
Author's Response: Dean will need a fresh perspective. At the moment, all he can see is what they didn't do, who wasn't saved, and what mistakes were made. He needs to hear from the legions they've aided.
Reviewer: Maureen Nesbitt (Signed) · Date: 30/03/11 10:50 AM · On: Chapter 29
Great update, it's terrible that Dean is still feeling so bad about the killing of good vampires, and of course trying to recover from the wounds, is he ever going to forgive himself and get back to the Dean we all know and love? Thanks.
Author's Response: Dean has so much more depth than he reveals. He suffers with what he holds close. It's up to those around him to decipher the cues and take action.
