Wonderful tie in - Conrad's sister, can see why the need for payback would be there. The introduction of grey areas in Dean's life came at a confusing time and you depict the echo's of that in this story. Love the exchange between Iris and Dean. My favorite part of this chapter - hard to decide just one- was Dean's utter faith in Sam; "And Sammy was a bright bulb, he would find the trail, and quick, no doubt. Dean clung to that like a drowning sailor's lifeline."

I am so greatful that there is a next chapter as this would be a mother of a cliff hanger! Dean's confusion and growing despairation is so well written, your working out each turn perfectly. Love this story, and who is that masked chick... or Iris as she keeps being called?!!

There is an excellent mixed response from Dean here. The brave defences... " He'd been drugged, obviously. And early too. He was crestfallen to remember that nothing good had happened that could in any way justify his current state." That-a -boy Dean at least you looked for the silver linning to waking up staked out over an old musty matress!!! LOL. Sam's skills of deduction - and a prphetic fortune cookie all help to give this tale that Winchester flavor. Great Job. Abi.

Love stir crasy Dean and Sam bickering and you do it so well!! "Dean's jittery energy was driving him nuts, and it was getting to the point where it was this or fratricide." The routine of their lives is evident here, and you are happy that Dean gets a break and gets... well a happy! :) Sam likewise gets what he seems to be craving - peace - and as he points out the brothers are after different slices of heaven. Great start, draws you along and in at the same time ... so that's diagonally?? LOL. Whichever the direction, I'm ready to follow along!!! Abi.

Having wrapped up this series, I do hope that you come back and share some other stories with us. I understand what you're saying about the show, and while I don't quite share the exact same outlook, I just wanted to say that that is the beauty of fanfic, we get to give Dean (and Sam) reasons to smile if we so chose. I love writing hunts and angst and horror (and ADORE hurt!Dean h/c fics), but I also find myself writing bits of humor where the boys tease and laugh. Anyway, enough of my rambling. As I said, I do hope you'll eventually share more tales with us.
Author's Response: Well thank you, Vanessa. I do hope to return...Mal

THanks for the epilogue notes..and I agree completely with your wish for the coming season but having seen some of the spoilers ..... I shall be on the look out for your new stories whenever they turn up...thanks again for writing some really good stories Lisa
Author's Response: Many thanks Lisa, for your comments.

Hey Mal I'm not gonna get gushy - just suffice it to say that YOU and this series has been a staple in my H/C Dean diet... I'm not sure where exactly the sustanence will come from now- and I will dearly miss David and this little universe you created.... but I DO understand the reasoning. Please know (and I hope you view this) that UnGen is your home for SPN fic... so come back when you're ready... and also know that as for myself... I'll be eagerly running for the dinner table- hungry to devour whatever you serve up! Thanks for all the awesome stories! I'm so happy I have them here to go back over at my whim! Tree
Author's Response: That is immeasurably important to me. Thanks, Tree.

Mal, once again I need to stop by and say thanks. I can't even begin to tell you how much this series meant to me, how much I loved each and every story, always eagerly waiting for updates and cheering when I found one. When my little girl was born and I had to give her a bottle in the middle of the night I would often get it ready, fire up the laptop and put it next to me on the sofa, gather her in my arms and start reading as soon as she closed her eyes and happily drank her milk. It was something that made me -almost- look forward getting up in the middle of the night :) I clearly remember reading "The Sin Eater" during these occasions. These days when I have some spare time for myself I still wander to this side and enjoy some of the little gems posted here. Your stories have touched me in a way not many others have. Your writing style is capitative, your stories well laid out and perfectly reflect the brothers. I love "your" Dean and Sam. And I will miss the way you wrote them deeply, although I do understand that you feel it's time to move on. But please come back here when your muse decides it's time for another dose of the Winchesters. I'll take anything from you. Take care and I hope to see you again very soon?! **Hugs**
Author's Response: Aw Dagmar...that is really special to me. I was particularly connected to the story Sin Eater, not really sure why. So cool that it was there in the middle of your own milestones. My hubby and I have only one, our son Tom. He's in university now, in fourth year biology. He lives about thirty minutes away in the city now, in an apartment with his very sweet girlfriend. We miss them both, but we see them regularly. But back to Supernatural, I do look forward to the new season...just hoping for some better times for the brothers. I'm finding their foibles to be a source of sadness. Yeah, I know.. it's not real life, it's just tv... But I still feel it regardless. Silly, I know...but still...hard to keep writing a storyline that is surely doomed to an unhappy end. But many thanks for your unwavering support. Best of everything to you and your family---Mal

I'll be sorry to see this series end. I'm looking forward to your next SPN story. Thanks for a wonderful ride.
Author's Response: Thank you Moira. Such a cool name, btw...it's one of the names most strongly engraved into the bricks of our 19th century general store here. I should take a shot of it.... I hope to be back writing sometime later. So much work to do first, lol ---Take care, Mal

I didn't have the chance to review the final chapter of your amazing, powerful story so I'll do it here. You outdone yourself with this story, you kept me at the edge of my seat chapter after chapter. To me your story has the same quality than books written by known authors. You're truly talented and you did an outstanding work, you blew me away. You lived with Dean, Sam and David but especially in Dean's psyche for weeks and weeks and I can understand that with time you felt that way. I hope to see you again here because I enjoyed all your stories you wrote so far. For now, I wish you the best of time. Thank you Mal, take care.
Author's Response: Wow, thank you Oceane. I did enjoy writing, but I also enjoyed the feedback, which is of immeasurable value to me. As a creative person, I'm prone to the fragile ego of our type, and getting such positive reinforcement is very valuable to me. Here's to season seven and some real inspiration for more writing...Mal

Dear Mal, again I find myself sittimg here, re-reading the final chapter of another one of your wonderful stories, dreading the end, knowing it has to come to a close but somehow still wishing it would continue. For several months alot of us joined you on this amazing journey. You always managed to keep the story interesting and at a high level, never stopping to surprise us with twists and turns and yet in the end managed to find a closure that absolutely satisfied. I have told you again and again how much I love your writing style. Your choice of words is brilliant - you manage to make me feel like the story plays out in front of my inner eye (hope that's how you say in English...) I am sad to see this story end - I have loved to travel this road with you. You have said before that you don't know if you will be able to offer us another story. But I trust your muse will return. I sure hope so. There are only very few witers out there who make me anxiously wait for updates as I enjoy their stories so much - you are one of them. Please keep writing - we will be waiting for you. Thank you so much Mal! Hugs from Germany, Dagmar

What a lovely ending to an amazing story, it was a hell of a ride, I enjoyed every minute of it! I just loved that Dean gave Johan's necklace to Lucas, it's such a Dean thing to do, always thinking about someone else's need.
I do hope you'll come up with an idea for a new story though sometime, because I believe you do have more to offer the Supernatural realm!
Author's Response: Zuimar---thanks for your many kind words. It always meant alot to me...Mal

Thank you for another wonderfully satisfying ending to another great story! Please don't say this will be your last Supernatural story! I'm determined to plant a seed for a new one... With them heading off to the beach, I was sure that Sam was going to steer them back down to Florida and Emily and Sally... I think I could really, really use another story with them!!! *nudge, nudge* And have you moved recently to Ontario? I'm in Ontario (well usually)! I thought you were in the US and Nova Scotia????
Author's Response: Hey Lisa. I'm taking a breather because it was becoming a downer. But I always loved your input, and looked out for it. I've always been in Ontario. Just have the place down east that tugs us away twice a year or so. Someday it will be forever, lol

I'm kinda sad to see this story come to an end. I'm glad that Dean has found closure and seems to be more grounded. Hopefully all involved can move along, too. I hope this is not the last time we see David and even Dennis. What great OC's you have created. A fine line with Oc's not taking control of the story and you certainly maintained that, and I thank you. I absolutely loved how Dean automatically started to think about fixing up the Impala with the money Sam got for the sword! Thanks for the great story and I hope you have another one up your sleeve!

I don't normally review. I confess to being one of the "lurkers" but I felt it necessary to let you know how much I enjoy your stories. I have each of them saved in my favorites and go back to read them over and over again. I think you have a lot to offer;)

Great chapter, to see Dean bounce back so quickly was great. He's been so down and sickly like forever it seems. So back on the road but no hunting, I'm fine with that, and so it seems is Sam. So what's next for the boys? Thanks.

This chapter just brought tears to my eyes. I'm so glad that Dean got to see Fion (Paul), Iris, and Conrad in their view of heaven. How beautiful it was. And Fion is right, if left on his own, eventually he would have succumbed to the evil inside him and would have eventually killed innocents and would be in hell right now instead of heaven. And it goes for Conrad as well. It was wonderful to see Dean finally see the light and will get better. It is kinda scary that he is literally at death's door for him to have talked to Paul. I wonder if he flatlined and Sam and the others right now are panicking? Looking forward to the next chapter.
Author's Response: Aw, now you know our Dean will never die in my written world. I just wish I could write his truly happily-ever-after ending. Great character....very heart-wrenching. I hope they do right by him in season 7. I'm counting on it.....
Reviewer: zuimar (Signed) · Date: 22/06/11 03:50 PM · On: Chapter 38
Man, how do you come up with these ideas? What a great way to give Dean closure with all that he has been dealing with. This chapter was written so beautifully, amazing! I've re-read it lots of times over the past days, hence my late review.
Author's Response: Apparently I have WAY too much spare time, lol. But I think I have some idea of where things are going, at least sub-consciously, while I write. Well, good theory anyway.....
Reviewer: Oceane (Signed) · Date: 21/06/11 06:37 PM · On: Chapter 38
Loved this chapter so much, beautiful and so poignant. Paul's words reached Dean's mind and soul in a wonderful way. Awesome work Mal.
Author's Response: Thank you so much. I have an image of Paul in my head, I wish I could share it. But you probably know who he is in your own imagination...my image is redundant. And thank you, for always offering such lovely commentary.

Wonderful! You almost had me in tears. Finn/Paul is trying so hard to give Dean peace and make him see the good that came out of his actions. I love this chapter. Your choice of words is once again brilliant. I can literally see the scene playing out. Did Dean flatline? Sounds like it. Whatever happened, I am curious in what state he will wake up in. I guess it will finally go uphill from here? It looks like we might be nearing the end of this amazing journey. I am so willing to let it continue a little longer :) Thanks Mal!
Author's Response: Aw, Dag...thanks. But only Almost in tears?? lol. I wish I had more to add to the story here but it's wandered enough now, I think. Thanks for following it---Mal

Fantastic, I hope Finn has finally gotten through to Dean he's worth it, That he's not to blame for everything. Now he has to pull himself together and start getting better, Thanks really enjoying it.
Author's Response: Thanks Maureen. I hope and need our hero to rise above this as much as he does.
Reviewer: Soennelchen (Signed) · Date: 13/06/11 05:39 AM · On: Chapter 37
Wow Mal, you worry about this chapter? No need to - you can clearly multitask :) Great update again. I love your version of Missouri. Although we have only seen her once the way you describe her and every little detail of her behavior seems spot on to me. Dean's response "Great. My biggest fan." is so typical him, yet he finds himself drawn more and more to her and the visions she has. I hope that she will be able to help Dean on his long way of recovery both physically and psychologically. Can't wait for the next chapter. Thank you!
Author's Response: Missouri always fascinated me. I hope they can get her back in season 7. But as such a brief character, she's fair game for interpretation. And thanks for ignoring the errors , btw!
