Excellent.  Love the different POVs.  And I particularly like that Sammy's POV wasn't all nostalgic, but more defiant.  Great job!

Author's Response: Thank you so much!!! It wasn't that easy to switch POV but I'm glad it worked! My first version of Sam had him all sad and desperate but it just wouldn't work so defiant it was, I'm so glad that worked, too. Thanks a lot! :)

I like a lot of things about how you wrote this Dean POV - the episodic visits to the Impala, the rain, the idea that he goes there to talk to Sam, and the neat tie in with your Sam story when he finds the amulet again.

Both stories strike a nice balance between the brothers like you said, and in my view neither and both are to blame for everything that has gone on between them - we are all responsible for our actions even when our choices are as hard as theirs were...

Author's Response:

Originally I had planned to write it as one scene with Dean putting the amulet back on at the end of it. And it didn't work like that, Dean needs his time to come to term with things.

And you are so right, neither and both are to blame, that's what I've always said, they are both responsible for what they've done! Man, I'm so glad you're with me on that! :) Thanks a lot!

Like you, I've read (and written) a few takes on the amulet but I don't think I've read one yet that sits so well inside Sam's head as this one - the anger feels right, especially in the light of the way Sam behaves subsequently, and how he gently but oh so firmly brings Dean around to the only course of action left open to them in fighting Lucifer.

So good on ya!

Author's Response: Thanks a lot, I wasn't really sure if people would agree with me about Sam feeling angry at Dean for throwing the amulet away, almost all tags I've read concentrated on him feeling sad and abandoned. I'm not saying he didn't feel like that but I guess if that had been all he was feeling he wouldn't have fought for Dean's faith in him later one. Glad you're agreeing with me! :)

Great story!  Very sad and heartfelt.  When Dean realizes that he is all that's left of his family, that just broke my heart.  And the fact that he tried so hard to make a life with Ben and Lisa is sad because in the end, it isn't what he really wants.  He's a man between worlds.  There is no place for him.

Author's Response:

The sad thing was that I hadn't realized it either, until now, that Dean is the last one left of their family, I actually had to stop writing for a moment. But I do think there is a place for him, it's with Sammy in the Impala! ;) But I know what you mean, if Sam wouldn't come back I couldn't see him settle down either. Which is so sad.

Anyway, thanks a lot!! :)

This was a fantastic one shot!  I loved it!  It had nostalgia and feeling and passion.  It sums up who Sam has become and how he will react to events in the future.  Excellent job!  I felt like I was in his head.

life that includes you dickhead.  LOL!  gotta love the sentimentality in that!

But I'm still here and I'm not leaving, not this time.  I'm not losing faith, not in you, Dean, not ever in you.   Wow!  I can just see Sam's righteous anger. This fits perfectly into the way Kripke steered the last few episodes.  We see Sam's unwavering faith in his brother.

Author's Response:

I wasn't really sure if I wanted to go that way since Sam feeling angry at Dean after all those memories that really hurt Dean was weird. But it worked and when I watched the next episodes it really made sense, I love that he can be angry at Dean and still love him more than anything and won't lose his faith in him. Gotta love that guy!

Very nice tags... and I've read a few. I like the determination on Sam's part- and I like that Dean isnt giving up either - despite how it all ended. Nicely done and welcome aboard UnGen!

Author's Response:

Thank you so much! I didn't really want to write a tag for both episodes since (for me) they are the most intense episodes this season and I didn't know if I could do them justice. I've read quite a few tags where both of them tried to deal with the situation but all of them had either Sam feeling sorry for things he couldn't change or Dean finding and just putting the amulet back on without really thinking about it. I couldn't see both of them reacting that way.

Thanks for the welcome, this site is awesome!!!
