I loved this piece! It's fabulous! It takes us through many of the phases of Sam's life, showing us how important prayer was to him in a confusing and uncertain life.
In fact his prayers sometimes included talks with his mom. Beautiful! I can just imagine a young, innocent Sammy reaching out to make contact with the mother he never knew.
Many nights he prayed for the safety of his father and brother. It gave him something to do that seemed helpful even if he couldn't really be out on a hunt yet. Another passage that hit me deeply. Poor Sam being left behind, feeling helpless to do anything to protect his family except pray.
He had thought that she was the answer, the road to redemption but instead she was the road to hell. Duh! Hello -demon.
Castiel brought him back his hope, his path on the road to redemption when he said "Sam is my friend." When Cas said that on the show I cheered! I'm glad someone has finally written about it.
