Well...I liked the story. It had a much sweeter ending than Swan Song...*sniffles*.....

I like that Dean chose not to forget those hard lessons, and loved that Cas took away the crushing pain associated with them.

Loved the gradual awakening, and the fact that I was putting together the pieces of the puzzle at about the same time as Dean was, as to what had happened and where he was in time. Like I was walking through it with him.

And adored the fact that Sam never gave up on his beloved big brother. Your take on Michael was a far better big brother than the show's version, too. Michael on the show was an entity that I loved to hate, just like Uriel. Kripke's version of the angels (except Cas, of course) really rattled my cage during seasons four and five. They were no better than the demons.

I'm glad you posted this.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Jules!  Frankly, I'd almost forgotten this story after the real season ending, so I'm glad it's still being read (and that you liked it).  And yes, I do think my ending was sweeter (good word for it!)

I liked your story and you take on what could happen.

I liked that Dean learned how important all those memories are.. the lessons learned.

Good concept. Thank you

I so wish that season 5 of SPN will end on a more or less happy note, but I don't think that's gonna happen. So reading stories that do have a happy ending are a joy to read, thank you!

Author's Response:

I'm sticking to Kripke's promise (well, implied promise) from Carry On My Wayward Son:  "There'll be peace when you are done."  Not necessarily a happy ending, but at least peace.

Thank you so much for your review!

Very bitter sweet - I am so glad you didn't let him succumb to the temptation of forgetfulness, even though living with those memories would be even harder when they aren't shared.

I have to confess, I cried!

Author's Response:

Oh, my. That's the highest praise a writer can get...that her work has touched the reader emotionally.  Thank you!

I couldn't let Dean forget...that would negate the whole series, which has been a learning experience from the first season.  Dean's learned so much: about himself, about his dad, and about the things they hunted, and he's grown so much as a result, that forgetting would do him (and the viewers!) a major disservice.

But Sam had learned too many negative things, lost too much of his empathy and sweetness, and he deserves to go back to that kinder time--for Dean's sake as well as his own.  And, with everything Dean has learned, I think he'll give Sam the chance to grow up himself this time around!
