Ah, so this is what you were working on...

Well, it turned out great. I'm glad you stuck to your original idea.

Dean's honesty was heartbreaking. And I do think he would have told Sam the deep-down truth in his final words to his brother, wanting to set things right between them before he says yes to Michael. Because I think deep down, Dean had a feeling Michael was only paying lip-service to the promise of leaving him intact after wearing him as a meatsuit. I don't believe Michael cared enough about humanity to cut anyone a break, not even his own chosen vessel.

The last line really got me.

Wonder what happened to the letter?

Great job, hun.

Jules

Author's Response:

I'm glad I stuck to my original idea also but would love to read the real letter Dean wrote.  And I have wondered what happened to the letter....I'm sure it will turn up in a fic or two somewhere. :)

Thanks for the review Jules.  I'm glad you liked it.

Awww! I love this! And that last line 'I love you, Sammy.' was the one to get me!

I read what some people gathered from the letter Dean was writing in the episode and it made me cry, but so did yours and I prefer it!

Dany

(By the way did you receive those links and did they worked?)

Author's Response:

Thanks Dany!  I'm still hoping they will release the full letter that Dean actually wrote so we can read it.

What links?  Did you send me an email?  If so, I didn't receive it. :(

I love this story, I actually first saw it on fanfiction.net, and then I just recently found this site. I thought I would review and just say how awesome it is that Dean wrote this to Sam, and how you really seem to capture what Dean might say, especially the whole"i can see your bitch face now..." lol, loved it :) I was also wondering if you still had the link for the picture of the letter, and if you could send it to me?

Author's Response:

Thanks for taking time to review Erin.  I really appreciate it and I'm glad you enjoyed my version of the letter.  I do still have the link and will send it to you.

Glad you found this site!  There are some really great writers here.  I think you'll enjoy it!

Between SH we did have a good go at working out what Dean wrote in that letter but like your take on it!  Dean wouldn't have wanted to leave Sam without some sort of goodbye and since he drove off without saying it, what he wrote makes sense.

And reading this brought a lump to my throat.

Good job Sonya.

Sarah

Author's Response:

Aw, thanks Sarah!  I actually got upset when I was writing it.  What are they doing to us this season??

We did have a good go at deciphering the letter, didn't we? :)

Very good, and as much as I would have imagined it to be, nice one.

Author's Response:

Thank you so much for taking time to read and comment.  And for the stars!  I'd love to know what Dean said in the real letter. :)

I'm glad you went with what you had, because I think this is what I would have liked to see in the letter from Dean to Sammy. Although I think at that time he wouldn't have been able to write anything like that, because he didn't trust Sam and was disappointed in him. Awesome writing. Hugs, Vonnie

Author's Response:

Thanks Vonnie!  Even though Dean had lost faith in his brother and everything around him, I still think he could have possibly written this letter because no matter what they've been through his love didn't change and I think he would have wanted Sam to know that.

Thank God, they're back on the same page now!  Let's hope it stays that way!

Absolutely brilliant, very moving, I think you captured Dean's mood perfectly. Thanks.

Author's Response: Thank you so much for the lovely review and the stars!  I'm glad you liked it.  I tried not to make it too sentimental because that's just not Dean.

Besides, you never were able to refuse my dying wish, no matter how many of them I made.

Ha!  Only a Winchester could say that particular line!

Author's Response: I was thinking back to season 3 when Dean kept having dying wishes and Sam asked "How many dying wishes are you going to get?"  To which Dean replied, "As many as I can squeeze out."

Aww, thanks so much for this letter, I wondered what Dean wrote and I LOVE the thought it was this! Perfect!!!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much Sabine!  I appreciate the review and the stars!

I hope we eventually find out what the real letter said...although SH is spending quite a bit of time trying to decipher it.  We may end up with the whole letter before it's over!

Awesome letter hun.... and I agree that I thought the letter was a bit to all of them as well.. mostly because I think Dean didnt have a lot to say anymore... mostly just a breif explanation that he was going to "take care" of each of them - and perhaps a last beg for forgiveness and understanding from each of them.

This was heartbreakingly beautiful... and I'm so glad that now Sam will never have to read such a thing (and considering the end of that eppy) they both have an "understanding" of sorts between them again...

Well crafted ( and I'm glad I'm not the only one who took a screencap and blew it up as large as possible to try and see that letter) LOL.

Tree

Author's Response:

Thanks Tree!  It seems there was a whole lot of us who wanted to know the content of that letter and spent a few hours trying to read it. :)

I have to wonder what Dean did with the letter when Sam and Cas hauled him back to Bobby's.  Maybe one of them actually got it and read it...like maybe Bobby since the box was addressed to him.  The letter might have helped Sam come to an even better understanding of his brother.

I'm so glad that both boys are finally on the same page.  That last scene will definitely go down as one of my favorite brother moments.
