This was really cute.  I don't think you have to worry about offending anyone involved in Supernatural.  I loved the way you described an older Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.  Very spot on descriptions!  I liked the reference to Gunsmoke, one of my favorite westerns.  Very touching and amusing story.  Definitely one of your best!  You should definitely pat yourself on the back.

Author's Response:

Thanks! Someone told me they thought Kripke would get a kick out of it.  I certainly hope so, IF any of them were to ever read it.

Jensen and us all love westerns, huh?  I'd love to see him do a western.  And I know both guys will still be very attrative and desirable as they age.  Very distinquished looking I am sure.

This was definitely a fun story to write.  Thanks again, B.J.

I think you did a great job.   It made me laugh.   I stated out thinking I was reading about Jared and Jensen in the future, and it ended up Dean reading aloud about Sam and Dean in the future.    Very creative!  :p

Author's Response: Thanks!  And thanks for the shiny stars.  I'm not allowed to write about Jensen and Jared *wink*.  It was fun to picture Sam and Dean in the future or past, depending on your POV.  And I love Chuck, so it was a bonus to get to write a confrontation scene between him and Dean.  Take care, B.J.

To take your challenge - here's a wee drabble response (just for a laugh!) and now I feel your pain - especially with names like Padaleki and Kripke!

It was a milestone moment, though he thought it was an episode he wouldn’t turn into a celebration.  Sam had said it was too much of a gamble, and he’d been right.

The supernatural black dog’s hackles had been up, when it growled Dean could have sworn it bared at least one hundred dagger-like teeth.  Its breath stank like rotten meat.

“Dude, manners!” he’d protested, fanning the stench away.

The first guy, whatsisname, Padaleki, had run away, screaming; while his colleague, Kripke, cowered in the corner, no help whatsoever.

Still, Carver Edlund’s first draft Black Dog story wasn’t half bad.

Author's Response: Hey, not bad!  You should have entered the challenge.  Thanks for reading and reviewing.  Later, B.J.

Pretty cool story B.J...... you totally had me going with where this was going...

I adored the Princess Bride reference ( one of my fav movies- btw) and then it totally made sense. Gotta say... your descriptions of the older Jensen and Jared... were adorable... and every bit as handsome ( even in my mind) as now. Gotta picture them aging that way...

Loved the bits about Kirpke and Edlund and their penchant for continuing to write more storylines- alas no beach scenes- and the leprechaun stuff- priceless... not to mention the Gunsmoke reference ( was that a shout to Jensen's love for westerns?)

Pulling it all together at the end- with the Chuck and the boys - I really didnt see that coming- but it made total sense.

Nicely done!

Tree

Author's Response:

Thanks, Tree!  Really glad you liked it.  I was worried it got too close to the RP ban, so you know I wasn't writing Jensen and Jared, not allowed! LOL

I do think both guys will age magnificently, Jensen certainly looks better every year.

I too love The Princess Bride and yep, Jensen and I love our westerns and it was fun letting Dean poke fun at Marshall Dillon.  And what a joy to write something with Chuck in it.  I just love that quirky prophet!

Sometimes the most enjoyable stories are the challenge ones, ones that never would have been written without someone spurring on the idea.

Later, B.J.
