You felt the same way I felt at the end of the episode. It was only a few weeks ago when Dean discovered that the amulet had anything to do with God but for the past 20 years it has been a bond of brotherhood for the Winchesters. The worst part is that although Dean has given up on everything, he's never given up on Sam. He's always believed that together they could conquer anything. With this piece you've captured Sam's sorrow and confusion. He's been disillusioned with angels and god and now the only person he could always count on has given up. "...and I've done a fair amount of pushing my older brother away. now I want to pull him close," So heart-warming and hopeful.

Oh, now that is awesome! Dean's POV was good but I really like this one. And I am absolutely certain Sam dug that amulet out of the trashcan.

Oh gooooood Lord. So poignant, so fitting, wow. And I am so glad you have Sam pick up the amulet. The necklace hitting the bottom of the can is the PERFECT symbol for their brotherhood and faith hit rock bottom, don't you think? I just hope Sam does what's necessary to restore some of Dean's faith in himself, his bro and ultimately in God... I love the way you bring Famine's words together with Joshua's! I hadn't really made the connection. It makes sense though! Both contributed to Dean and Sam's current situation!

Awesome Sam POV Vanessa... totally non-judgemental... refressing considering how many folks really seemed to want to berate Dean for throwing that amulet away at the end of the eppy... I think you captured what we all hope Sam really knows and feels... that he DOES understand whats going on with this brother and how horribly things have become twisted... I'm glad I'm not the only one who hopes, thinks, prays, that Sam picked the amulet out of the trash and stowed it. I was sad that Dean tossed it but I understand why as you said in this piece everyone's let him down and he's given up, well almost? Like you the ending of this episode left me shattered and heartbroken for Dean, Sam and Cas. Thanks for this, it expressed everything I myself was feeling. Silvertayl

Sam had to pick it out of the trash didn't he? I liked this - a tangible symbol of our brotherhood. It is and I still can't believe that Dean just binned it. Shows were his head is at for just now, and his heart. Sam's happy remembrances all but finishing him. This episode was very sad, the bit in the field upset me the most, Dean was so happy and then with Mary....and to end with this was just cruel. Liked your little tag, there is a little hope in there somewhere. Thanks, Mary xx
