Here's a cookie - a really, really big cookie, with chocolate chips and everything - even sprinkles! That was wonderful - sad, touching, poignant. A great look into Dean's state of mind, and his reasons for doing things the way he does. Thanks, hon, for sharing this - it was a piece of gold!...Jules

Author's Response: Wow. I don't even know what to say. I'm so glad that you liked it. So far, I think this is the story I'm most proud of... Thanks you so much for such a lovely review. AND cookies - YUM!

This is just gorgeous lam, I'm so sorry I'm so late getting to it! That's what happens when you volunteer to help a family member move house, and it ends up taking half the week! Anywaaaay, you have done a beautiful job with this...I would have loved to see this on the show. Adored this part:

Dean knew that there'd be no living with Sam if he didn't eat, but he couldn't find any enthusiasm for it. His mother had made him his last sandwich, and he'd eaten his last cheeseburger with Carmen.

*sniff* Great work!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the lovely review. Moving really is a b****! I moved four years ago and I'm still not fully unpacked and now have this nasty habit... I loved this episode - can Jensen Ackles acting get any better? And really I've been expecting the "we're not in Kansas anymore" all along, but I am a Wizard of Oz freak....

Real nice ending to a wonderful episode.- Loved it - K

Author's Response: Thanks so much for reviewing. I don't know how you can be such a prolific (and accomplished!) author and still find the time to R andR so faithfully! Just couldn't get this episode out of my mind, and Dean just kept bringing up the Wizard of Oz...

What a story..!!!.....so quickly on the heels of the the show...hopefully someday i'll be that productive.....thanks for a really great read....loved how it ended with him using Dad's selflessness to put everything in perspective......

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review. I'm almost embarrased to tell you how many times I've already watched this episode - it just tears me apart. I sometimes think that John gets treated a bit harshly - Dean's hero wouldn't, in the end, have clay feet, I don't think....

This is great! Dean doesn't think he has dreams anymore, but I think that's because his life-- despite rogue hunters and determined Feds-- is pretty good. He and Sammy are both alive, they're together, and they're fighting the good fight. Sure, it's not perfect, but it seems right for them. Great job on this one!

Author's Response:

Thanks for taking the time to review. I think Dean is almost at his lowest point at the end of this episode (certainly his lowest to this point). He does manage to find joy in his daily routine, usually - whether it's food, beer, or random sex - or hanging with Sammy. I think Dean's biggest fear of dreams for the future is that Sam won't be in them. Now he realizes that the past is past, he has to rely on the future - ok enough rambling - thanks again for the review.

Author's Response: OOOOHHH! Thank you for the great review. I was really nervous about this one. I just couldn't get the last shot of Dean in the episode out of my head. I'm getting to work on the next chapter of Fester tomorrow. In the meantime, please feel free to wait with Dean on the bathroom floor...

Oh, poor, Dean. When you said that the last sandwich he'd eaten had been made my his Mom, his last cheeseburger with

Carmen, my heart just broke a little. And I felt for Sam when Dean bit his head off about the meal they ordered. Life

is just not fair if your last name is Winchester.

Author's Response:

Of course Dean would never say it wasn't fair. Thank you so much for your review! I'm honoured that you read it - gosh, I love your writing so much, I'm just like a fangirl here!

nice look into Dean's head!

Author's Response: Thanks! I keep thinking he spends so much time in mine, I should really return the favour.

I loved it! It sums up everything I was thinking! And the ending fit the story so well! Good job!

Author's Response: Thank you for the great review. I have to admit, I pretty much started with the ending of this story.

Very nice, I liked this a lot, especially the Dorothy analogy at the end.  Well done.

Laura

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the review! and especially thanks for noticing the analogy. The Wizard of Oz is one of my favourite movies and is responsible for my love of the supernatural too - nightmares galore over the Wicked Witch as a kid... The boys are from Kansas afterall and Dean was referencing the movie all along, but when his first words upon seeing Sam were Auntie Em - it just all hit home for me. Dorothy tries to go home as soon as she thinks Auntie Em is in danger afterall, even if it means having to give up Toto, and then she's injured in the tornado and sucked up in it - just too good to pass up.

Great insight into Dean's head.  Always about everyone else, sacrifice and protect,  the things he does best.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review. That's our Dean. I hope I was able to get into his head just a wee bit as he seems to spend an awful lot of time in mine...
