"He is the one good thing in my life and I don’t want to do this without him.”  Aww. I'm glad Dean's sticking with Sam despite the events surrounding the apocalypse.  I like that you're bringing up a number of things that are little loose ends.

Author's Response: Thanks Terri.  It's those little details that drive me insane!  I don't like it when things are left hanging.  Of course, it doesn't change the fact that they are still hanging on the show. :)

Even after all this time, Cas still doesn't seem to get the bond between the Winchesters, does he?

Or perhaps he thought that between the hosts of heaven and hell combined, they'd managed to sever that bond once and for all with all their manipulation of both brothers in bringing on the apocalypse.

Cookie6 posed a scary question to me after the S4 finale - she wondered whether the angels - on Zachariah's orders - might have actually left Dean down there in hell until the first seal was broken......horrible thought, isn't it?

How heartbreaking to see Sam so weighed down by remorse and withdrawal that he seems to have lost the will to live. And I have no doubt that Dean will follow him if he loses his tenuous hold on life.

Author's Response:

You know, I find it totally believable that Zachariah left Dean in hell until the seal was broken.  Zachariah seems to be the one who is behind all of this.  Cas said they tried to break him out as soon as they found out the plan but we know Cas hasn't been told all the details about everything going on.

I think Cas will soon learn that nothing can ever break the bond between the brothers.

Thanks for continuing to read!

That message has to come out some time on the show - I've been waiting for it. That, and the fact that Cas was the one who let Sam out of the panic room.

Great start - I'm so glad you're posting this, even though it's AU now. Can't wait to see where you're going to take us. I've got a brand new box of tissues, so I'm ready for the ride.

Author's Response:

I know!  Both of those things are bugging me to no end.  I wonder if the phone message is one of those off screen discussions.....you know, like the one about Dean breaking the first seal. I so wanted to see Sam find that out.  I thought it might ease some of his own guilt.

Thanks for reviewing.  Hope you continue to like it.  Sometimes I'm afraid I might be going too heavy on the angst but I can't seem to help it. :)

Oh that was sad, a bleak future for our lovely boys.

Bev xx

Author's Response: Thanks Bev.  They just can't ever catch a break, can they?

Ah yes, that phone message.... Funny they seem to have skated over that in the season 5 so far don;t they...

Anyhow, when are you doing the next chapter on this one?  It is worth continuing even though you were going on a slightly different journey to Kripke...

Author's Response: This one is already done, AMB.  I actually thought you had already read it on FF.net.  I wrote it right after season 4 was over but thought I'd go ahead and post it here too.  I'll probably post the second chapter before the weekend.

You know I don't care if this is AU now or not, just continue to post this. Sometimes it is fun to see the different possibilities even after the new season already started and I never can get to much hurt Sam anyway. I like what I'm reading here. Hugs, Vonnie

Author's Response: Thanks!  I know some people haven't started the fifth season yet so I thought, what the heck, post it.  And like you said, you can never get too much hurt Sam. :)
