Whew! I got behind on this story, and finally got caught up! It was SO WORTH IT! I love the setting, and the feel of the archaeological dig, and Native American lore. I was really pleased with the resolution, as well! Good story!

The mystery continues to build suspense. I love that you keep us in the dark about exactly what is attacking the site! Sometimes finding out what the monster is isn't as scary as wondering and imagining (Pennywise was so much more frightening than the alien spider).
Author's Response: Oh I know exactly what you mean! Sometimes seeing the monster just ruins it for me. I'm all scared and having fun then they show it and Gark, it's just some guy in a rubber suit or something stupid. One of my fav stories is a short story, scary scary scary and you NEVER see the monster.

A very revealing and yet mysterious chapter! I hope you explain what happened to Joe back in the day. It sounds like he was some sort of healer or sin eater who took upon himself the infirmities of others. *shrugs* Not sure what to think but I know I love this chapter. Your attention to detail, the surroundings, the senses makes your story come alive and places me there.

Fabulous! Joe is just mysterious enough to worry Dean (and me) even though he seems to be one of the good guys. His parting words: "when you wake we will talk about what you've seen," and "try not to be afraid" are eerie statements that cause fear rather than the sense of security that they're meant to evoke. The entire interaction with Joe is marvelous! It took the story down a completely different path than I expected. The entire chapter was intriguing. I'm glad you held back the recipes of the teas and poultices. You know that old adage that a little bit of knowledge can be dangerous holds true. You gave us just enough to show you have familiar wisdom with the medicines without giving someone foolish the bait to try and self-medicate.

As if your title wasn't intriguing enough, your story notes made this a must read! Fantastic! You've set the stage beautifully. I can picture the view in my mind, feel the sun and wind, smell the sunflowers. "Pissed off people chow"---too funny! At first I thought the noise was a flash flood (those scare the crap out of me) but a rock slide is more dangerous. I'm off to the next chapter.

I'm not sure why I read this chapter again, as I read it on the other site and it frustrated me there too.
I know you like to create emotional responses with your stories, especially cliffhangers, so good job, you have made me mad while reading this one. I keep thinking things will get better, but instead they are only worse. I hate Joe, he has chose to murder Dean. I love Dean and Sam (supernatural fan, makes sense) but I'm so mad at Dean for giving up and letting Joe kill him. Where is the Dean Winchester we all know? Dean isn't even trying to fight to stay alive for his brother. Sam is suppose to be saving Dean, but is not doing a very good job and who is the mummy? If Dean is already dead, than how can Sam save him? Sorry, I shouldn't have read this chapter again, but thought I missed something the first time around. But no, it still made me mad (and I don't like being upset with the brothers.) You are a very talented author and I enjoyed reading many of your earlier stories again over Christmas break.

I hate you..... hate you hate you hate you- I tell you!!!! This is sooo not an itty bitty cliffie....
