Yeah! I was so excited when I saw a new story from you. I have missed reading your stuff. This one sounds like a good one from the start. I can't wait for the next chapter. I hope you had a restful hiatus, but I'm glad they don't last forever. Look forward to next week and some more from you. Take care. Jane
Author's Response: Hullo, Jane. Yes, I did actually. Well, sort of.... I was writing, but work was really busy so I had a bit of trouble actually getting some decent time for a while there. The hiatus went for a wee bit longer than I expected. Hope you enjoy what I've got planned for the boys next. And thank you - it's great to be back. Jules

Awe Jules, you have already got me hooked. Cannot wait for more!! Denise
Author's Response: Hey, hun! Thank you for that. Hope you enjoy the next chapter - Winchester whumpage is definitely on the horizon - lol. Jules

so glad to see you back, this story has all my favourite elements, Sam's Stanford friends, vengeful spirits and set right after my all time favourite episode. Best christmas present ever.
Author's Response: Aww, thank you for that. The heat hasn't fried my brain yet, obviously. So, Beth picked a really good episode for her birthday wish list, eh? I had to admit, it did give me lots of lovely leftover angst to work with - lol, I'm just evil. Jules

I really like what's here so far and I can't wait for the next installment!
Author's Response: Thank you very much for that. Hope you enjoy the next chapter just as much as the first. Lots of angst to come - lol. Jules

Wonderful - another great Mizpah story to keep us entertained during the Hellatus!! Great work, Julie
Author's Response: Thanks Rachel. I heard a whisper that the US hiatus is being extended for another week. And what is with Channel 10??? What the flip are they playing at? Hope you enjoy chapter two - the tension begins to ramp up even more.... Jules

Being as I'm impatient and all, I don't normally read wips. But a Mizpah story set right after my favourite ever eppy? That's just too good to miss! And lo and behold - already, we've got angst up the wazoo, characters I love to hate after just one chapter, (that Felicia, what a bitch!) and a case that's all intriguing... Loved the embarrassing stories for Sam and Matt, they felt really natural - it's a great relationship your building between those two. All their history together, and now the added layer of whatever's going on, and Matt trying to set that against his memories of Sam. It feels like they were good friends, and I really hope that gets them through what you're gonna throw at them! He glanced at Sam's upturned face for a brief moment, an expression of wounded pride flickering in his eyes before he forced his usual cocky grin. "I'll see you back at the motel." Oh, this moment made me flinch. Poor, poor Dean. Coming on top of the Djinn-Sammy's distance and coldness, it's gotta hurt. And it's such a good way to describe it, 'wounded pride' - he would have been so proud; of Sam going to Stanford, and of himself, though I can't find a way to express what I'm trying to say without making him sound really egotistical (pride in himself always seemed like something of a survival techinique for Dean to me. He doesn't fit into the normal paradigms, and so I think he would percieve other people as looking down on him a lot, making that pride a necessary boost.) To find out (however erroneously) that Sam never mentioned him... ouch. Wow. Rambling... Roll on next week! ;) Cal
Author's Response: Impatient, eh? Well, I can't say I blame you. I'm the same, and I tend to pick carefully what WIP's I read these days because I hate waiting weeks for an update. Must be old age - well, that's my excuse..... Awww.....you're making me blush now. Thank you - and yep, angst up the wazoo as well as everything else, and the boys in a barbed wire canoe without a paddle.... I'm so chuffed that the "wounded pride" expression translated exactly how I wanted it to. Like you, I don't see Dean as boastful about what is really close to his heart, and I think he would have been proud - parentally proud - of Sam's achievements, even though the separation caused great pain. I think, too, that one of Dean's biggest fears from that time would have been just how much did Sam not think about his family. So Felicia pushed a pretty major button there. Thanks so much Cal, for reading and for your lovely review. Hope you enjoy the next chapter. Jules

Love the start of this one. Season two was always my favorite season until season four came along. And What Is and What Should Never Be is one of my all time faves. It's nice to see your version of what happened after that and I like seeing Sam with his college friends. It's nice to know he does have some normal memories.
Author's Response: Thank you! Yes, Sam does have some normal memories, but I imagine it wasn't all that good for him at Stanford, despite his having friends and Jessica. He admitted to Dean at the end of Skin that he always felt like a freak, even at school where he didn't fit in, as much as he longed to be normal. I think that Sam has only ever felt truly at home with his brother. Hope you enjoy what's coming, hun. Jules

Okay, I am intrigued. Love that you set it in Alton. Being a fan of Troy Taylor for years, I've read plenty about Alton's ghosts. Loving this story. You better update soon. Poor Matt. He's being haunted and his girlfriend is a bitch. Please update this soon. Love your stories.
Author's Response: Thank you. I actually Googled the map of the state, then found a website for Alton which proclaimed that it was the most haunted spot in America. I did some more research and thought - yep, this is the town I want. Yes, poor Matt - he's certainly got a lot on his plate at the moment, and it's only going to get worse.... Thanks so much for coming along for the ride. Jules

Love the beginning of this story. I've always enjoyed stories where Sam meets up with college buddies and Dean feeling either left out or not good enough for Sam's friends. Dean sure does have some issues especially after the djinn got through with messing with his mind. I hope Sam can find a way to let Dean know that he did talk about his big brother a lot while in college. That Felicia is a bi-a-tch for sure. How dare she hurt both brothers with her catty remarks. I wonder if Matt is right about him being in danger. Looking forward to the next chapter!
Author's Response: Thank you. It's all BHoney's doing, actually. I'm just fleshing out her idea. But it would be a mystery to Dean, like an itch he couldn't scratch, Sam's time at Stanford. I could see his curiosity in Skin when Sam was interacting with Becca Warren. And I think that Dean felt a wee bit uncomfortable then, too. This time it's much worse because of the Djinn. And yep, Felicia is a class-A biatch for sure. And she's not finished with the brothers yet..... Jules

I liked the first chapter lots, poor Dean he's having a hard time already and now because of Felicia's hurtful words he's even worse, hope he's not going to do anything silly. Can't wait for the next post, Thanks..
Author's Response: Thank you so much for that. Yes, Dean's doing it tough at the moment. Not just because of Felicia, but the whole Djinn thing is way too fresh. This isn't going to be an easy hunt for him at all. So glad you're coming along for the ride. Jules

Hooray, you're back! I missed you terribly! I remember that Beth had asked on the forums for stories about Sam reuniting with some college friends. I'm not surprised this is what she requested. I love it. It's a great start to the story, and you've set it right at one of Dean's hardest times emotionally. I can alreayd see what kinds of problems that's going to lead to! I can't wait for chapter 2!
Author's Response: Awww, thank you, Julie. I actually missed being away from the site. But there was nothing in my Bank folder ready to go, so I had to take a long break. When I emailed Beth and asked her whether she'd like a birthday story, this idea was at the top of her list. Originally I was going to go for a S1 fic, but after a few emails back and forth, we settled on immediately after WIAWSNB, to capitalise on the angst - aren't we mean? Thank you for that - I'm really enjoying weaving the Djinn-memories around the action to keep Dean completely off-balance. And yep, problems galore for our intrepid hunters. Jules

Hey Jules Nice to see you back again. And what a start, the way the victims died and Dean still affected by the Djinn, its great. So glad Matt knows what Sam and Dean do but will the poor guy be the next victim? Seven days to wait for the next chapter huh? Way too long but I promise to be patient, yeah right! Lol Jacq xx
Author's Response: Thank you so much, Jacq - it's good to be back. Yes, we hit the ground running with this one. As for Matt being the next victim - well, something's in the wind, that's for sure. And Dean's going to have a pretty tough time of it, dealing with his memories and the reality of Sam's Stanford friends. Oh, LOL - hope you can be patient. Real life is crazy, especially at this time of year. Jules

OH WOW JULES!!! Back to the good ol' days of Season 2!! GLEEE ;) I love that Dean feels like the outsider because of Sam's Stanford friends and that time apart. I love that you had Jen say to Sam (and us) that it was all lies because Sam didn't stop talking about him. I can't wait for MORE!!!
Author's Response: Hullo, Pink! Yes, I'm back, and with a blast from the past. And a troubled time it was, too. And I'm glad that you love so much right from the very first chapter. Yes, Dean's not feeling very comfortable around Sam's friends, especially not with the Djinn memories still so fresh in his mind. He's in for a rough ride - and so is Sam. Thanks hun - it's so good to be back, actually. Jules
