I didn't expect THAT!  Grrr on Ted!  Just when I was liking him, he turns out to be awful!   Thanks for the exciting twist!  Fabulous chapter!

Great chapter!  This explains more, gets them back to the caves, heals them up, AND marks Sam for some whumping next time!  Awesome!

Author's Response:

Hey Primrose.

many thanks for reading and reviewing and I'm pleased it explained some stuff for ya.

BEV!!!! I just loved this chapter... Dean all hurt, but stoically curled up on the front seat of the Impala- determined to tough it out- even though he's delusional- seeing things out in the desert! You certainly know how to bring out the HurtDean girl in me!!!

I wasnt sure what to make of Ted quite yet... I think I trust him... he did heal the boys after all- but I hate that he's throwing them right back into the fire as it were. He certainly knew what bait to use on Dean- dangling those kids- sacrificially as it were... no way was Dean gonna let that slide by- especially after that vision ( kudos on the description btw! - nice ick-factor on that one!)

I love all the mythology in this chapter- intricately woven- and still so perfectly intune with whats been written before you! I'm still amazed at how skillfully all of you have blended this tale together... simply amazing.

Now- I'm sitting back with baited breath- to see whats in store for the boys. They're headed back to the caves... in one piece- but for how long????

Pfhew! have been real worried whether you'd like it.

Hey, it's me...there's always gonna be hurt Dean! That boy is so much fun to heal!

The lore was really cool...the Yeibichai are just amazing. I even enjoyed the research...oh no...I turning into Sammy!

Heehee so glad you like it.

Riveting chapter with Navajo spirit dancers, a shaman who healed Dean and Sam and a new mission for them, saving Ted's grandchildren. Poor kids, they must be scared to death. I'm looking forward to Thursday.

Author's Response:

Hey oceane

thank you for coming to read and review and I'm really glad you enjoyed the chapter. The lore connected to this story is indeed wonderful

Souxie - well... first my apologies- I'm a tad behind on reviews... not sure where this last week had gotten too and I look up and wham- there's two chapters of UIS sitting here. On one hand- BONUS- twice the goodness to read- but on the other- what a slacker I am.... so please forgive.

Well- whats not to love about this chapter... I always ADORE those scenes where the boys get the chance to take a breather and heal or rest... just a respite from the action and angst where there can be a little humor or crack in the bravado for moment. I loved the bargaining over the 'emergency M&M's and Twinkies' - could really see the two of them going round and round about this - especially loved the wording you chose here...

Dean’s angry response attempted to stop its furious charge on a dime. Its feet skidded with a rubbery squeal against Dean’s will, its arms pin-wheeling with the effort to stop itself from toppling over the edge and finding out exactly how far it was from the top of Ass-Hat Remarks Mountain.  ---- that's just priceless!!!

I also later loved the Ripley/Dallas/Jonesy banter... nice homeage to Aliens there... although I was almost waiting for some classic Scooby-speak when you mentioned ScoobyDoo... loved that too.

Yet - despite the easy-going humor- you still gave us a glimpse of angst on Sam's part too- his internal struggle over having to leave his brother alone while he went to get the Impala was a nice glimpse into what happened while in-between chapters.

Great chapter! So awesome to see it all coming together and I cant wait to see what happens next- I know this has to just be a brief calm before another storm!

Gah, the plot thickens!

Nicely trippy chapter, Bev!

That was quite a rollercoaster Sharron! You certainly know how to amp up the angst and I was getting "a trifle concerned" for Sam's well-being in the first half.

It's very intriguing with all the dreams and blurring reality. I loved the cliff hanger finish...

Great chapter- roll on catching up with the rest of the story!

Author's Response:

Ta very much, chuck!  Finishing on a cliffie is a bit of a pathological need for me I'm afraid!

And I might make Dean think something's happened to Sam, just to torture the poor boy, but I'd never really hurt Sammy...!

I enjoyed the chapter.

Nice bit of angst to balance the humour of Kirsty's chapter with Sam's worry about Dean's state of mind.

I loved the interaction and references as Sam tries to persuade Dean to co-operate with hypothermia treatment! I'm still consolling myself about the near miss of unclothed Dean!

Author's Response: Ah, yes, I was a bit of a tease about unclothed Dean...but that doesn't stop us from picturing it anyway.  Glad you are enjoying our efforts.  Take care, B.J.

Hello Kirsty- finally catching up with this story again.

I really liked Tonenili he's just the right mixture of otherwordly and childlike single-mindedness. The Dean and Yei interchanges were a real giggle- I could see that happening on a good day let alone when Dean's hurt! And I liked Sam's reaction to the Yei.

Alison

Author's Response:

Hiya Alison,

I loved Tony, he was just so wonderfully irritating.  I was struggling with what to do with my chapter until he popped into my head.  He helped me a whole lot more than the Winchesters.

Hope you had a good Christmas.  Seems ages ago now... Happy New Year.

Hiya Toza,

The image of Dean waking up next to the fire was too delicious for words!! Nice to see he's finally got some of those wet clothes off, loved him checking beneath the blanket to see just how far things had gone!!

Sam's anxiety at leaving Dean unprotected and alone in the woods showed just how desperate their situation had become.

Lovely to see the Impala make a reappearance - we know nothing can go wrong once she's back on the scene.!!! lol

Love that their headed to safety - will they make it though?

I reviewed this a couple of days ago but my internet was glitchy and it got eaten in transit. Seems to have settled down again now though.

Aah Bev,

What a beautiful chapter, your descriptions of the early morning desert, the dancers and the dancing evoking such detailed, atmospheric images.

Poor Dean, once again wavering in and out of peaceful slumber and into terrifying visions.  Sam's belief that his brother's concussion was kicking in big time was hilarious and so on target with the acceptance and care that they exhibit for each other.

Ted was gorgeous, his transformation from Yeibichi god to 'Ted' was wonderful to behold!  What a nice guy - well, until he kicked Dean in the ankle, definately a shot below the belt!  But hey, he's fixed them up perfectly - they're now ready for whatever the rest of the Legionnaires might be ready to throw at them!!

Lovely chapter, can't wait to see what'll happen next.

YAY, you healed him... or Ted did for that matter. Now he's good to go get them kids. And maybe get a few more scratches or worse. I love the lore you put in, hun. Very interesting. And from now on, I am spoiler free coz I haven't read the remaining chapters. Awesome. Just when the showdown is approaching. That's truly gonna fill the hiatus nicely.

I have always admired you skill in painting their world and you've outdone yourself in the descriptions of emotions and the beautiful dancing scene. The healing was riveting to read and I felt shivers running up and down my spine. Brilliant, sweetie... AWESOME chapter.

Hugs and snogs, Ilka

Wow, what a brilliant chapter, very intense, mind you i felt a bit sick when they were climbing up the bodies lol.

Author's Response:

WOW. Brilliant review. LOL. Seriously, thx Lindsay. And is it mean of me to say that I am happy to have madeyou feel sick? I loved writing this climbing bit. I could see every detail of the corpses and I didn't feel sick. I LOVED IT! I am a weirdo that way. I must remember to write some gore into End of Days future chapters. That is if my writing muse should ever decide to come back to me :((

I loved this chapter, great banter between the boys lol.

Author's Response: Thanks, I appreciate it!  I love writing the brothers, how they banter with each other and then how they try to hide their fears and concern for the other.  Later, B.J.

Exciting chapter, poor Dean, hurt again.

Author's Response:

Glad you thought my chapter was exciting, thanks for your kind comment.

Yep, the story's only started and Dean is hurt - blame Cal, she gave him to me like that. What's an author to do but ramp it up more!?!?!

Awww...Sam felt guilty for leaving Dean alone while he got the impala and with it, first aid kit, water and some food. Thank goodness, they're going back to town, they need to rest a little before the ultimate fight. I'm looking forward to the next update.

Reviewer: Primrose (Signed) · Date: 05/01/10 10:59 PM · On: Chapter 9 - Candy Makes The Best Medicine, by TozaBoma

I'm so happy they had a chance to rest up and eat awful food!  I know Sam feels guilty, but I don't think they'd have made it without the supplies.  Poor guy.  This was delightful to read, just a little angsty guilt, and a chance to take a break.  Great job!

I'm exhausted only reading Dean and Sam's escape from that cave, once again they nearly died in this place. OK!They're out but hardly alive especially Dean, unfortunately for them, they're far from civilization. What's going to happen next, can't wait to know. Great work everyone.

P.S.: I want to be the first one to be volunteer to take care of them once they'll be back to town, they'll need lot and lot of care.

Author's Response:

Hiya Oceane,

I'm sorry we exhausted you, but we had to get them out eventually, the cave has not proven to be one of their happier experinces so far!!  You're right, they're in no fit state for messing with a kitten, let alone a monster but at least they're away from it and safe(ish) for the time being...now we just gotta get them fixed up and back on the road.

Thanks you for your very kind offer to take care of them, I'm sure they could do with a fair bit of TLC to set them right again!!

Thanks again
