Another grand chapter! If Dean doesn't wake up now and understands how much Sam needs him, he will lose his brother. So wish he will connect Sam's behaviour - and I mean going out naked (as nice as this imagination is) this is not at all like Sam - with the sleepwalking in his younger days. Dean has every reason to "have a strange feeling rise up within him, leaving him with a sense of dread". I do actually hold the hope they will find Sam in his brother's car where he feels safe; no doubt they have to find him very soon. Excellent!!

Author's Response: Thanks again. You are so right that is not at all like Sam and I promise Dean will finally get it. Too bad, he won't be in the car though. Hugs, Vonnie

Oops,  i hope Sam hasn't wondered to far away, fab chapter, i enjoyed it.

Author's Response: Thanks, I promise they will find him in the next one. Hugs, Vonnie

Love how Rumsfield responded to Sam.  I'll bet Bobby didn't expect that the dog would be no help at all.  I guess only time will reveal the truth.

Kind of sad that Sam is sneaking into the Impala at night.  I guess it's the only way he feels close to Dean, feels any sense of belonging.

Author's Response:

Yeah, Runsfield is a big old puppy at heart around the boys. And you are right about the Impala, that's where he finds comfort. Hugs, Vonnie

Great chapter Vonnie!  Now that I think back, this was the beginning of the bad vibes between the brothers.  I'd love to go back to the good old days of season 1.

Poor Bobby!  He doesn't have any idea what he's up against.

Author's Response: This was a very tough time for the boys. And Bobby is in it for better or worse and I think its for worse. Thanks for your great review. Hugs, Vonnie

Another fantastic chapter, i love both brothers but Dean needs a kick up the butt if he can,t see that Sam needs him.

Author's Response: I promise Dean is going to see the light soon. Thanks for your kind words. Hugs, Vonnie

Oh, Sammy....

I don't think it's going to take Bobby very long to put two and two together and work out that Sam is actually the mysterious night-time visitor. Wonder how much longer it will take him to figure that Sam's actually sleepwalking.

How sad was that scene where Sam crawled into the mangled Impala and went to sleep? I wonder whether Dean and Bobby will eventually find him out there and connect the dots on Sam's strange behaviour.

That was more than sad when Dean accused Sam of attention-seeking. I love Dean, I really do, but sometimes he needs a smack upside the head to make him see what's right in front of him at times.

And the whole thing of Sam moving into the library.....*sniffles*....

Dean's going to feel MEGA guilty when Sam's somnambulistic tendencies come to light, especially if Dean remembers young Sam's theories on the reason why he did it when he was a kid.

Those boys were so fractured during the few weeks after John's death - it actually hurt watching the episodes.

Author's Response:

Sorry for not responding earlier. Dean is going to feel like a donkey when he figures it out and poor Sammy, well he is not out of trouble yet. They are both just so lost without their daddy. Thanks for your wonderful thoughts. Hugs, Vonnie

It's painfully obvious the whole time Dean should do all the things Bobby does for Sam right now (don't get me wrong, Bobby is doing a great job but it's not him Sam so desperately needs, it's his brother). As much I do love Dean I want to throttle him and make him see his behaviour hurts them both and can destroy Sam who - and this was a deeply touching detail - even while sleepwalking seeks the comfort of the Impala, so much connected with Dean for him! Desperate times.

Author's Response: You are so right, Bobby is doing his very best but Sam needs Dean. He is going to be lost without him. I promise Dean will see the light, only will it be too late? Thanks for another wonderful and thoughtful review. Hugs, Vonnie

Aww..Sam's sneaking out to go sleep in the car!  Nice detail!  I hope Dean gets a clue soon.

Author's Response: Thanks, Dean is going to get it soon, I promise. Hugs, Vonnie

I wondered who was there for Sam, who admitted that he wasn't dealing well with his Dad's death.  We never got to see it.  Good job!

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I love Bobby and he seemed to be the right one to be there. Hug, Vonnie

What a great but deeply sad chapter, it's just exactly as Bobby states, "a concussed, confused and heartbroken Sam was more than he could take". It is heartbreaking to see Sam this desperate thinking his broter hates him but still all he wants is Dean (and Sam asking for his brother over and over again is something I won't forget, haunting) who chose the worst time imaginable to leave. As hard this is on Dean too, if he doesn't come to his senses very soon and talk with Sam this won't end well this time. Hope he will see it and come back - knowing Dean he will find a way even during this storm. BRILLIANT chap!

Author's Response: Thanks, you are so sweet, again. This is going to be hard and it's not going to get better soon. I will update soon. Hugs, Vonnie

An excellent chapter, poor Sam, no wonder he's starting to sleepwalk again with all of the tension.

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm glad you like it. Sam does have a good reason to sleepwalk again, doesn't he? Hugs, Vonnie

And so it begins...and I have a feeling it's going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

Dean's internal war with himself was so well portrayed - I can still remember that look of stunned horror on his face when his father straightened up and left the room at the hospital to go and meet with the YED. Dean looked as though his whole world had just been tilted on its axis - and so it had, and was about to tilt even further with the death of his father.

I have to confess I was so pissed at John for laying that burden on Dean - telling him that he might have to kill the kid that he'd practically raised - the kid he loved more than life itself. No wonder Dean withdrew from Sam and put up a wall of anger and hostility. Even though it was hard - they needed each other so badly after John's death, but that secret just lay too heavily between them.

And poor Sam floundering in his grief, not understanding that it was much more than grief which was keeping his brother away from him. Wanting to do something to help - to reach out - but getting soundly rebuffed each time and taking it the wrong way, thinking that Dean hates him.

And now the sleepwalking is starting because he's so stressed. What a night for Dean to pick to go out - heavy rain, and flooding, and now his brother's got a head injury and Bobby's trying to deal with it as best he can on his own. No easy feat considering Dean's usually the only one who Sam will open up to.

Hopefully Dean will be back in the morning and Sam will be better, or Dean's internal Sammy's-in-trouble alarm will start going off and he'll find a way to get back to the house sooner.

Troubled times ahead.

Jules

Author's Response: Your are right,so it begins and it's not gonna end here by far. John really put way too much on Dean, he might have felt bad at times, but that never kept him from doing it and what he did right before dying really hit the ceiling. And poor Sammy has no idea. Even with everything he is going through he is trying to reach out to Dean. I think that is one of his coping mechanisms. I help you, so it helps me to forget about my own problems. Now he not just gets pushed away, he has to deal with all the stuff that has been going on in his life. So he can't cope anymore. I just don't think Dean is going to get over all of this so easily, just because Sam got hurt. Very troubled times ahead. Thanks for the awesome and thoughtful review. Hugs, Vonnie

Very apt Sam was the one who found the cause of his sleepwalking and I just loved the brother scene right after this when Dean had an answer for every of Sam's questions (what a great list of dangerous jobs!) and promised to be always there for Sam. Brilliant transition between the past and present events and that you chose the time when both brothers were so hurt after John's death (it feels like a sting it's about John who never found out what was behind Sam's sleepwalking) and didn't talk to each other - mostly Dean excluding Sam - makes it even more inevitable Sam's sleepwalking will be triggered again. Think he never felt so lost and alone before, so sad. It's up to Bobby now (glad this great guy won't give up on his boys) to figure out what's wrong and make Dean see Sam desperately needs him - wonderful picture, "...the kid followed his brother like a chick did his mother", it shows perfectly Dean is Sam's world as he is Dean's. Can't wait for more!!!!

Author's Response: Thanks so much, I thought it would be a good time to revive Sam's sleepwalking. There are a lot of things going on. And Bobby is the perfect guy to help. I will update soon. Hugs, Vonnie

So it was caused by stress - and that means that adult Sammy will be sleepwalking all over Bobby's place very shortly, yes?

Because Sam has to be stressed to the max after the accident, the confrontation with the YED, almost losing Dean and then really losing their dad. I think a lot of people, including Dean, forgot that it was Sam who found John's body - that had to leave some pretty deep emotional scars.

Really looking forward to what you have in store for the boys - and us - next, hun. Will puppy dog eyes work on you?

*bats puppy dog eyes in hopes of another update*...

Jules

Author's Response: You and Sam and your puppy dog eyes, how is a girl suppose to resist them. Well, I already promised an early update and I will promise it again. And yes, Sam will sleepwalk all over Bobby's place, the next chapter will just be the beginning  Thanks for the support. Hugs, Vonnie

I love all the hazzards Dean gives normal jobs.  And the fact that Sam believes them all and his adoration of big brother increases exponentially is funny.

Now that we know what the problem is with Sam's sleepwalking, I'm eager to find out about Bobby's.  Is it because he's worried about the boys?  I know, I know, read and find out.  :)

Author's Response: Thanks, I thought it would be like Dean to do something a little unusual to relief Sammy's fears. And Bobby has a lot of worries ahead of him. You'll find out in the next chapter. I promise an early update. Hugs, Vonnie

I'm glad that John kept being a father and not a hunter. Giving Dean a much-needed hug, hastily asking the anaesthesiologist to give Sam something in the interim and let Dean stay until he succumbed, assuring Sammy that nothing was his fault - that was the John that sadly I didn't see evidence of in the show.

And there were some truly lovely moments between the brothers - the most memorable being Sam keeping his focus on Dean's face while he drifted off, and the fact that  even though his words were garbled when he came out of the anaesthetic, Dean could understand.

I read Sabine's review, and agree totally with her comments. And I, too, hope that one brother won't be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice for his sibling, but if they go out in a blaze, please let them go out together, as they were meant to be.

hugs

Jules

Author's Response: Thanks for the wonderful comments. You and Sabine always get my stories and what I try to convey. I dread the thought of the brothers dying in the end, but you two are right, let them go out together and I hope we see a glimpse of them in heaven. Well, we have to wait and see. Hugs, Vonnie

This was an amazing brother chapter, focussing on what these brothers' connection is all about and among so many great scenes - John asking the anesthesiologist to let Dean stay with Sam as long as possible and give Sam something he wouldn't be aware of Dean's absence, then Dean telling Sam the truth finally - there was a key moment for me, just before surgery, "Sammy...still holding on to his brother's hand, his eyes never leaving Dean's face." Coming back to this line over and over again, it's a deep and wonderful insight into Sam's and Dean's unique bond (and just to add this here - if it comes to the worst at the end of this season, still hope it won't happen though, this would be my wish how it should end, Sam's last sight his brother and Dean right behind him). Also a heart warming scene at the end, Sam falling asleep while Dean was holding him. Very special, this chapter truly shines!!!

Author's Response: Thank you so much. Again you really made my day. I'm glad you feel this strongly and I agree with you on the season ending. Hugs, Vonnie

"...even though his voice was so hoarse, no one but Dean would have understood it. But that was alright, because he was the only one who needed to."  Simply but eloquently put!  This was my favorite line in the chapter.  It really shows the boys dependence on one another and the care they give.

Author's Response: Thanks, I'm so glad you like it. I like the line myself. I just wish the new season would start giving us this kind of relationship again. Hugs, Vonnie

Good thinking of John's to child-proof the house, given Sam's sleepwalking tendencies.

But I can understand Sammy's confusion over it all - suddenly the rules have been changed and he can't work out what's going on. It's typical of him that he would begin to worry that there is something wrong with him that his family isn't telling, especially given the conversation he interrupted.

John forgot to mention one thing, though, in his haste to get the house child-proof and his instructions to Dean - he forgot to tell Dean it's dangerous to wake a sleepwalker. Now Sam's hurt and Dean's feeling like it's his fault. And I'm sure Sam will have question upon question when he wakes up.

Hope he's going to be all right.

Really intrigued by this, Vonnie. Can't wait to see what you've got in store for the adult Sam. And how Dean reacts to the repeat performance.

Jules

Author's Response: Hey thanks. I'm glad you feel like me and agree that Sammy would be confused and worried. Things really got more complicated than John thought they would and now they have a lot to sort out. About the repeat performance, well it will get even worse. Thanks again for taking the time to review an being such a great friend. Hugs, Vonnie

How sad (and a little funny) that Sam thinks he might be dying.  poor kid!  That would be a natural assumption.  Maybe at the hospital they can find out more about what's happening.

Author's Response: Hey thanks for the review, I really appreciate it. You're right, it is a little funny and very sad. I figured Sam is such a sensitive soul, that he would pick up on something being wrong and this would be a logical assumption. Hugs, Vonnie

A good beginning!  I like that you're just vague enough for our minds to think of all kinds of things that could be wrong with Sam.

Author's Response: Yes it is, yet the title is a dead giveaway, at least if you understand medical language. It translates to sleepwalking.

Reviewer: bia1007 (Signed) · Date: 13/10/09 01:22 PM · On: Chapter 2

Great continuation, Dean's fear for his little brother was very clear and John's (as always I love the John you write, it's the real John we see here I believe) decision to stay and take some pressure off Sam was wonderful (enjoyed them getting the house "Sammy proved") but I'm not sure if it was the right way to not tell Sam why they're doing this. He's scared and suspects he's fatally ill, now to make it worse he's hurt - this will only add to his fear and to Dean feeling guilty. Hope they will tell Sam on the way to the hospital, there might be more behind his sleepwalking than they think. More soon I hope!!!

Und Liebes, sehr gern geschehen, ich habe mich vom ersten Lesen an in Deine Geschichten verliebt und das hat seitdem nicht mehr aufgehört. Liebe Grüsse, Sabine

Author's Response:

Thanks, you are right not telling Sam did more damage than good and it's causing Dean a lot of guilt. I want John to be a good dad and I just don't think the would have left Sam and Dean by themselves in a situation like that, especially not while Sam was only that little. Later maybe, but not then.

Es bedeutet mir sehr viel das Du dich in meine Geschichten verliebt hast. Du bist mein treuster Fan. Liebe Gruesse, Vonnie
