Okay! I didn't get to hide out and read like I wanted but I chomped on this story in bits and pieces, and whew! What a ride! I loved all the character interactions and you did a great job with the brothers' complicated realtionship at this point in the season. And man, all the side plots dancing around the main event! Kudos to you for managing all of it, 'cause it made for a tense and riveting read. The seal and all the stuff going wrong? Definite Winchester luck going on there, lol. Dean's issues and Sam's issues were yanking my sympathy back and forth, and just... There's just so much that I dug about this story I can't even articulate it all. There were details left and right that made me stop and blink for a minute, and it was all good. Awesome job, thank you for sharing, and I hope you come back and write many more stories. :)

Stealing Dean's line here - dude, that was awesome. I enjoyed this from the very first chapter and it just got better and better as it unfolded. This was a great end to a great story and I loved that you've built the gap back up between the boys at the end there for taking it back into the series. I think you got the boys and Bobby dead on in this, especially Dean, loved how you wrote him. The snark was just right! (I'm a Dean girl can you gues?lol) All the conversations with the boys seemed so real, I could picture this playing out in my head and I like to do that when I read, so kudos to you for that. This could easily have been an episode. A good, likeable OC in Boatright too, coming good and helping the boys fight the good fight. Definitely one that I will come back to, look forward to more when life lets you. Mary xx
Author's Response: I'm a Dean girl too, and hope that didn't stop me from being sympathetic to Sam and justifying his story. (eek!) And thanks for the comments on the "gap" still being there. Sam and Dean still love one another, but there's always that tension between them nowadays, and I had to bring it back there because of "On the Head of a Pin," which is the episode after this story is told. Hey This is a great chapter, nice bit of tension going all the way through, even though I knew (hoped!) that you wouldn't really let Dean fall. Loved your Dean in this, so much snark in so few words, I think that it what adds the extra 'it' factor to this story, you've got the characters spot on! Loved it! Mary xx
Author's Response: Thanks Mary! I was hard trying to write Sam as caring and getting that driven part of him as well. As Chuck said, he was afraid revealing the demon blood thing would make Sam look unsympathetic. lol So walking the line between showing Sam cared for Dean but was being pulled away and influenced by Ruby was difficult. And I know Dean got beat up a lot in the story, but he got beat to hell in S4! So I didn't feel I was too off the wall. lol Thanks so much for the comments and for reading!

Thank you so much for sharing this story with us. Its been quite a roller coaster ride and Ruby has really managed to get Sam all twisted around. I'm glad Boatright survived too. Well written and it has fitted in very well with the episodes. So the 'Trailer' is that a hint of something to come? If so it looks really interesting. Jacq

The Trailer is the beginning for "On the Head of a Pin," so I won't be writing about that one. lol If I decide to write something else after I move, it'll probably be about Dean's time away from Sam - that's been tickling in my mind for a bit. Best chapter yet, I really liked this one, lots going on. Loved the fight with Dean and Ilyas, this part of Dean's thinking is, I believe asolutely spot on - Let me tell you the cost of revenge, shall I? Revenge is a father who was never around. Revenge is a child being forced into adulthood because his dad is out chasing the demon that killed his mom. Revenge is thinking you are nothing because every moment of your life you were told someone else’s needs were more important than your own. Revenge is when the brother you gave your life for can’t think of anything beyond killing the demon that sent you to hell. He can’t even see that you’re back and…” he broke off and swallowed. “Revenge bites you in the ass. Revenge never ends; it grows until everything in your life is driven by it. Revenge rips families apart, revenge drives brothers apart…” - That is exactly how Dean sees revenge, something that has cost him all his life, so sad. This whole part of the chapter was really well thought out, bringing together all the little bits already woven in the story, and pushing it forward to the conclusion. Dean is not a revenge-driven man because he knows that it is, in the long run, a fruitless undertaking. I love that about him!

It is NOT GOOD that everyone had to separate for this! Fabulous conflict for Sam here- he is in so much trouble, and you can tell Dean isn't going to be much better off. Maybe Bobby will have an easier time of things? Great story.
