Oh, Mary, this is so sad and poignant. The first time I read it, I thought Dean was just injured, but I re-read it and thought, oh, no, he's not just injured, he's letting go of life. *sniff* I wish I could rewind my thinking and see this as only injured!Dean not dead!Dean. So sad, but beautifully crafted drabble. Sue
Author's Response: Hey Sue Thanks. I wrote as a deathfic and then went to other way from you, realised that maybe it could be seen as him just letting go of all the baggage of his life. Roweena's review gave me the graphic image though of Dean dying on his burning car! That won't go a way for a while. Thanks again for the kind words, Mary x

I so want to review this but I just don't know what to say. You've managed to blow my little brain to pieces - it's trying to get to grips with everyone being gone but Dean and the Impala. And that last line...

Oh I love the movie! Altho the book is even better, I might add... Dude! 3 very different drabbles and this one is my fav! I love angst, hurt and loss. Poor boys always get a load of em in my stories. And yeah I HAVE killed them too. *blushes in shame* This drabble is full of angst and grief and at first read I immediately thought Dean dies. However, it could also be that he lets go of the Impala as she is a total wreck. Or he simply lets go of the hardship and grief, which would be very uncharacteristical for him but the nicest way of interpreting it. A lot of subtext here! Terrific, brilliant and excellently done! *applauds* Ilka
Author's Response: Yeah, the book was the best, I read it one night in the house on my own and I swear I jumped at every car that passed for the rest of the night, the film wasn't quite as scary! Imagination over film every time. Oooh don't you love when someone's review of your story makes you look at it in a different light - suddenly black burning metal took on a whole new meaning for me when you mentioned the car being wrecked. Dean torches his girl, the last of his family and follows her into the great beyond? What a great end, a Dean style salt'n'burn!! I can see it in my head. If only I could do banners!!Oh God, I just might have to expand this now....aargh! I love angst but if I kill Dean I usually find a way to bring him back, this was too short to do that!
